Do all DVC resort rooms have balconies? We are staying for our 1st stay at VWL in March (thought it would be SSR in July, but DH made a surprise spring break trip. Should I request a specific area at this resort?

Thanks, Tiger

If you stay on the first floor at SSR there is a patio. Nice size, no railing or anything around it but plants and such. Eventhough you only have 2 chairs and a small square table you could probably seat about six on it. It was nice.

I know that at VWL there is exactly one studio with neither a patio nor a balcony. We met the people staying there-unfortunately they were new owners having second thoughts. I don't know the room number, but I know it's on the 4th floor.

Boy, I've been a member since DVC started and nobody ever told me about a villa without a balcony. NO PLACE NO HOW! I am blown over. I would have requested a room change ASAP if I found I had nowhere to sit outside in Florida. These are deluxe accommodations aren't they?

Even the hotel rooms at Vero Beach, by which I mean not even a villa, have balconies or patios.

So all DVC resorts have balconies (except the odd one as mentioned in the above post)?

Also, are there any units at VWL that face Magic Kingdom.

Sorry for all of the questions as it's our first time!

Thanks, Tiger

The villas are on the other side of the lodge. There is no way to see the fireworks from the villas, or even the resort for that matter. We were not pleased at all with the views from the balconies at the VWL. Our first one was of the dumpsters and the CM service road. Beautiful! The second was on the opposite side of the building and of nothing more than overgrown trees. I guess that's what you'd get in the "wilderness".

You can see the water pageant however from the beach.

They did a very good job of hiding the Magic Kingdom from the entire Wilderness Lodge area. Besides all of the trees, there is an island between the Lodge and the Contemporary/Magic Kingdom hiding the view, so you really feel like you are in the middle of the wilderness. You won't be able to see the castle from the resort at all.

The balconies at OKW are very large - the ones in the 2 bedrooms have a large (I think 36 or 42 inch) round table and 4 chairs.
The balconies at other resorts vary in size. Some are fairly long, but all are narrow with just enough room for 2 chairs and a small end table.

Thanks - that makes me a bit sad now that we won't be able to see the MK. I have never camped a day in my life, nor have a desire to, so seeing the trees and stuff doesn't thrill me, but I've always been captivated by the beauty of this resort. We actually chose this resort because of animals, nature, etc... and we are going "home" to Saratoga for 2 weeks this summer and figured we should try another resort, so we chose VWL. I'm sure we'll enjoy it - and we'll definitely sit out on the beach to see water pageant as I think my DD will love this as I know my DH and I really enjoy it!

Thanks, Tiger

VWL 4533 when used as a studio does not have a balcony (it's a lockoff room).

I didn't mean to sound like VWL wasn't a nice place. Actually we're going back in April, it just is very secluded due to the trees and such. It is an absolutely beautiful resort. The lobby is gorgeous. You will enjoy it very much. Your little one will like the geyser as well! Have a great trip!

You will love the WL!! It is such a beautiful resort. We are not into that "woodsy" theme or campers and we thought we wouldn't like it but gave it a shot. Sure glad we did! We loved it. DS was 20 months when we were there in Nov. and he loved walking over that bridge in the lobby, back and forth. It entertained him for a long time! We really enjoyed the resort, the restaurants, the pool, the surrey bikes. We stood for 3 days and didn't leave the place! DS and DD almost 7yo didn't like the water parade. DS wasn't really interested. He just wanted to play in the sand!

From what we saw of the villas, the views were just OK. We stood at the lodge and had an amazing view of the pool and lagoon.

From experience the BW balcony's only fit 2 chairs and small table. Not big at all. From what we saw at WLV it looked the same.
