I apoligize in advance if this question has already been asked/answered. I have read at other blog web sites that when you arrive at the Orlando International Airport and are using DME that you can take a bus directly to the park of your choice and skip the bus to the hotel. I just called Disney and they said that was not true. Is it or is not true and if it is true has anybody done this before? I arrive in June on a Saturday night and will be staying at AKL and I know that is the furthest hotel away from the airport and I think that from landing at the airport driving to the hotel and then going to the MK that we will probably be looking at least a two - three hour time frame and when in Disney I don't want to waste any time at all. Any insight that you can give will be appreciated. Thanks

You have to ride it to your resort. If you check in online they will text you your room number and you can bypass the front desk.

You absolutely cannot do that? If you remember where you read that, would you mind sharing where it was?

There is no bus to the park from the airport. You could always skip bus and take a cab. And whst would you do with carryon bags assuming you want other bags delivered to hotel? Personally if I were arriving late, like 5 or later, I wouldn't waste a whole days ticket at the park. Also I would keep all my bags and take to hotel with me on bus. After waiting several hours for bags to arrive on ME I just take bags with. If room isn't ready just leave them with bellman. At least you know where they are

I don't recall the blog that I was reading it on because I have been on so many this year. But I will have to go back and search for it. The park is open till 2:00 am and my kids are a little older so we can get a lot down in such a short period of time and not have to deal with the heat of the summer during the day. In your opinon would it be best to go the hotel at AKL and take the bus to MK or take a bus to Epcot then the monorail to MK?

Adding an extra transfer is never a good idea. Just take the bus from AKL to MK.

bus to MK not the extra stop as that will only add time as you would have to take 2 monorails not one

Even if you were staying at another hotel it may take you even longer to get to your resort. For instance we stayed at Art of Animation and the bus went to the Boardwalk and Pop Century before the last stop at Art of Animation. The next time we stayed at Port Orleans and the bus stopped at the Poly and then Fort Wilderness before dropping us off at our hotel.

You are correct in thinking it could take up to an hour to get from the airport to your hotel, but also since you are the furthest hotel away you will probably be dropped off first. The bus driver will let you know when you get aboard where you are stopping and in what order.

Just drop your luggage at bell check, if you have any carry on luggage, even if you room is ready and jump the bus to the Magic Kingdom. You don't want to go to Epcot to wait up to 15 minutes for the monorail, to dump you off at the T&T center to wait another 10 minutes for the monorail to the Magic Kingdom.

Even if you grab a cab at the resort to go to Magic Kingdom, the cab will only drop you at the T&T center and you still have to take the monorail or boat to get the the Magic Kingdom, where the bus drops you off by the entrance. (well as close as you can get to the entrance anyway).

When we went in September we stayed at CSR & were the first stop! I wonder if it depends also on how many people they have going to which hotels once the busses fill up?

Routing probably depends a lot on the driver's return trip. It would make sense to end at or near the first resort where a pickup is scheduled.

DME routing is variable and depends on the destinations of arriving/departing guests at any given time.

You never know the route they will take. It isn't static. It changes based on needs.

Drop your carryons, take the bus to MK. Or maybe take a cab. It'll drop you at TTC so there's an extra step, but given my own family's horrible bus luck at AKL I would expect that you'd still be standing waiting for that MK bus by the time the cab got to TTC.

If you decide to spend $30 on a cab, it's worth the extra $2 to be dropped off at the Contemporary. You can walk to MK from there.

I meant from AKL. Good catch of my poor communication!

Also a great idea that I continue to never think of, to be dropped at the contemporary.
