DME app is close to useless!

I mean MDE app. I'm really hoping they improve the app soon. It's really the worst Disneyworld app I have. Here are my problems with it:

1: it doesn't always let me log in, freezes up.

2: u have to scroll through months to get to your trip

3: my resort info doesn't always show up, my dining usually does.

4: my chosen park info never shows up.

With all of these problems I can't imagine using it for fast passes in the park. I use mobile magic, undercover tourist, and two other free apps for wait times and dining info and have never had any technical issues with them.

Is everyone else having these issues? Am I expecting too much when Disney's website can't even perform well on a regular basis?

Agreed.

And, this may be one of the reasons that a recent FP+ test was announced ahead of time, then cancelled
just a short time before it was set to begin.

One trick I discovered with the Android MDE app is that, sometimes, it will hang on startup at the "Locating" screen. I thought it was terminally hung when this happened, but I found a way out....

1. Hit the Menu button on the phone.
2. Observe the MDE menu on the bottom of the screen, with "Help & Support," "About," and "Exit."
3. Press the "About" button.
4. That'll take you to the "About" screen which reports version information. On the lower-right-hand corner, press the circled Mickey icon.
5. After a few seconds of "Loading..." with the Spinning Circle of Doom, you'll be taken to the main map menu, and you're in.

I won't promise this will work for everyone, but it has worked for me 100% of the times I thought the app was locked up in "Locating" while starting up.

All standard disclaimers apply, your mileage may vary, do not take internally, void where prohibited or taxed, and all forgotten articles become the property of the owner... :)

OP here, I should have mentioned I have an iphone. I know the app seems to work differently on different devices.:confused3

I have the same problems and didn't get the upgrade people were talking about in other posts. It is quite frustrating!

MDE app was mostly working last week when we were in the parks to show us accurately posted wait times and FP return times.

One morning it wasn't working, but my Mobile Magic had the exact same problem (just showing hours every ride was open and not their wait times or FP info), so the problem wasn't restricted to the MDE app.

A systemic failure like that seems monumentally problematic once My Magic+ is fully rolled out.

I didn't even know there was a place on it for resort information. Where is that located? Under 'my plans' I only see dining.

Disney has always had awful websites but this mess absolutely takes the cake. It is absolutely terrible.

My chosen park info just started appearing in the mobile version 30 min ago... It has always in the regular version... Maybe due to this week's update?

Odd that you're having issues with it. My wife and I used it on our iPhone 5s last year at the parks and it was great. I checked it periodically now and haven't had any problems with it. I can see my upcoming resort and dining reservation on it already and it's pretty stable with no crashes.

My Samsung Galaxy that I had last year was completely useless. For a long time there wasn't even a compatible version for the phone. Once one was created for that model it crashed constantly and often would cause the entire phone to reboot spontaneously. I expected that one to be better since it was on Verizon's network but I was wrong.

The apps on my iPad also work great and did when were there on our last trip.

You might be able to uninstall and reinstall the app. I'd also make sure you are at the latest and greatest software version for your phone. It may be that it is optimized for the iPhone 5 with the 6.1.2 software. :confused3

Hopefully they will make some enhancements e.g. Maintaining date, party size when looking for reservations, edit a dining date or time on a confirmed reservation.

I have a Sprint iPhone 5 and I love the MDE app. It lets me do everything right from the phone. Today I canceled my Liberty Tree ressie and changed to Nine Dragons in about 2 minutes while walking from FW to WS heading towards Canada from Club Cool.

All of my ressie's show up for hotel and ADR's. I have zero issues with this app. Not sure why peeps on this thread is having so many problems with this app. :duck:

Sprint IPhone 5 too and it works great for me. However, during my January trip sometimes I couldn't get a connection in MK. I think it was a park issue because after we left MK it was fine. It was also still in the testing phase then too. We leave this Tuesday and hopefully it still works as good or better. I love being able to cancel or rebook ADR right away.

I have an AT&T iPhone 4S and have no issues either. Sometimes it's a little slow in the parks but I mostly contribute that to thousands of people trying to use the same cell towers.

OP, are you using the older Mobile Magic app or the new My Disney Experience one? (not that it matters much I suppose, since I had the same experience with both apps)

US Cellular Galaxy S3 here and I also have no problems with the app. I used it extensively on my trip in January and the only issues I had were with my internet connection in a couple of spots at MK and EPCOT.

It shows both my upcoming DVC reservations and all my dining ressies for both trips. I love not having to make a separate list of my reservations!

I've been using it on the iPod Touch 5 and haven't had any issues at all. It's been really great for those last minute dining ADR's. Some days I'll just check when I arrive at the park to see what's available and make a quick ADR - so much better than having to find a phone and spend time while someone else looks for openings. I can see my resort reservations just fine too.

But some people have been complaining that the MDE website isn't working for them either - and I haven't had any issues with that (once they finally integrated all the reservations from the old site, that is).
