Since we'll probably do at least 2 DL trips in the coming year, I think we'll get APs for our June trip - how does this work? I know it's not a huge discount but do I buy them online through DVC or get a voucher and redeem it in the park????

Info appreciated!

When I've brought on line they send me a voucher that is then redeemed at the park. When the voucher is redeemed is when the pass is activated. You don't want it activated until your first use so that you get the full year to use it.:)

Also be careful about renewing. The rate is cheaper but the year cycle starts on the day the old one expires
(IE Original Activation Date 4/30/08
Expiration Date 4/29/09
Renewal Pass- activation 4/30/09
Renewal Expiration 4/29/10)

so you might not have enough time to get 2 (or more) additional trips in and your money and your ap are running away hand in hand.

Actually DLR APs go from date to date. So our APs were activated on 9/20, and we could have gone into the parks on 9/20 the next year. Since we got them during a Leap Year, our year was 367 days on the AP.

I can see if you're renewing them it doesn't feel like that, but if you are not renewing them, you can see that you get 366 days on the AP since you can get in on that same date, different year, as when you activated the AP.

I bought a DL AP last year at the park window. What's nice about DL is you get 10% off on practically all dining with the blackout pass and 15% with the full year pass.

Also make sure that you check online with "mousesavers" and "disneyland.com" to make sure that there aren't any specials for AP that are better than you can get through MS. Last fall I was able to get the AP for $10 cheaper than I could have gotten it through MS by checking for special offers.

Just show you member ID at the ticket window for your discount. There are no DVC discounts on the renewal rate. Also, the discount is only good for Premium and Deluxe AP's only. If you visit the member site, there is more information. From the site: "Your Disney Vacation Club Member ID Card must be provided and ALL ADULTS must present a valid driver's license or state identification card showing they reside in the same household. Limit 8 purchases per household." Southern California residents get a better price on the Southern California passes, so we don't even use our DVC discounts for our Disneyland AP's, only for our WDW AP's.

FYI, if you buy a Deluxe AP at a Costco in So. California, you can get a $50 Disney gift card with each pass purchased, which is a better discount than the DVC discount. You essentially would pay $219 instead of $269. There are blockout dates with that pass, so you should check before buying to see if those dates will be a problem.

I had read that but wasn't sure if a) it was only for SCal residents (I'm not) and b) if I can count on finding it at Costco (since I never "count" on finding something particular at Costco. We're going down in mid June. If I have a car (not sure yet) I could stop at a Costco (and would be willing to since I'll be buying 2 of the deluxe passes).

Does anyone know the most convenient Costco (if any) between SNA and DL?

Also, if I don't go that route and don't find a better deal on Mousesavers, I guess I'll just get them at the ticket window and show my DVC card at the window (I'll be buying for me and my dd8 (who I don't think I'll need ID for)).
