DiveQuest cancelled indefinitley

I got a call two days ago from Disney telling me that our reservation at Epcot DiveQuest could not be honored because they were having to suspend it indefinitely. They said it had to do with "animal safety" and it seemed to affect all the guest interaction programs at the Living Seas.

The Disney rep was calling 300 or so guests over the coming weeks. Does anyone know what lead to this?:confused3
 
this is the official response: We are conducting maintenance work around the aquarium at The Seas with Nemo & Friends which is reducing the visibility in the aquarium and causing a change in the water color. We apologize for this inconvenience and expect the water to return to normal shortly. This activity is not harmful to the fish, Cast Members or Guests.
 
Is this temporary, then? My DH and my 12-year old DD just got certified in Hawaii and we were really looking forward to them diving in the tank.
 

I have 2 dives scheduled for Wednesday, November 9 - and haven't gotten a single call or anything.

Anyone have start dates?
 
Great. We have Dolphins in Depth and Aqua Seas booked for the first week of November. This just happened in September too. :confused3
 
We have Dolphins in Depth booked on 10/25 and Seas Aqua on 10/28. No call yet but we are overseas, so I don't think they would call us anyway.

I'm hoping this will be done by the time we get there, we booked a Platinum plan largely because it allowed us to do Dolphins in Depth !!

I booked a dive for DH for the day before yours, Nov.8th I haven't heard anything (and they better have it going, this was his birthday gift from me!) We're going to Hawaii in Feb. and he wants to have another dive under his belt before we get there.
 
DD has a dive scheduled for 10/21 and we have not yet received a call. Wondering if I should call? It was so hard to book this one, I am not looking forward to trying to rebook.
 
Yeah if this is not fixed for a while I hope they will sub Wild Africa Trek for the Platinum Plan.
 
Just talked to a CM and they currently are only cancelling through October 9. May change next week.
 
Ours was canceled for Oct. 13. They called on Wednesday. I may call them back if people are hearing only through Oct. 9 (two days ago they told me it was through Oct. 22).

OK, so I just called the tour line and they said they were not scheduling anything until Nov. 8. Not sure if they are canceling people very far out in that time period until they see how it is going.

Very little chance for us next week.:sad2:

I don't know how I'm going to break the news to my sister. This is THE thing she was looking forward to do, especially considering she can't do much of anything this trip. Now I'm thinking we may cancel our platinum package entirely!! This really bites big time.
I'm going to drop an email to the IPO and see what they say. Will post if they give me any interesting information!

Uh huh. And I heard they were closing it to enhance the guest experience because many guests were complaining about dolphin breakdowns during park hours, so the dolphins will now be closed starting one hour after normal park closing so they can put them into routine maintenance. Those guests staying in Dolphin resorts can expect to take a manta ray back to their hotels at the end of the day.
 
Living Seas was closed completely today with no Crush or Nemo running at all according to the time boards we saw. We did not even try to enter as it was listed as down.

It was open yesterday but the dolphins were a little moody, they were hanging out near the chain opening near the top.

Yes, let us know what they say. I have a PP the 1st week of November too and we have Dolphins In Depth and Aqua Seas booked. I would want to cancel it if these are not going on.
 
We had a YES class booked for the 17th at the Seas; they called yesterday to reschedule us into a different class. We were offered a choice of another class at Epcot or a class at AK.


I was glad I'd read this thread earlier, so I wasn't taken off guard by the call.

IPO just said they have no info really on any dates and The Seas CM's would reschedule us if needed. Which for us would mean another trip. DH is not coming with me in December so it would be next year at some point.
