"Diva" Trip - "Cliff Notes" p.236 OLD THREAD!

Good morning, ladies!!

I had a "craptastic" night of sleep last night. I hate nights like that. :sad2: Oh well. Today, after school, Noelle gets her braces on!! I'm nervous for her. I hope she doesn't hate them too much. I know they'll be painful at first so I bought lots of soft foods. I just hope she doesn't feel too self-conscious.

Anyway, have a great day everyone (Anyone? Anyone here anymore?? lol).

Mommau4, I think that is a great idea, doing area attractions. I would toss in universal though expecially with the new harry potter area.

Beth I think if you go you will DEF love Univ but I would go to Islands of Adventure for sure. That is a REALLY neat park in just the themeing alone and I think you would really like it. And even if you did go over to Universal it has rides and things that the hollywood version doesn't have.

Thanks Patty and Kelly. We'll see. The kids love the idea of Orlando, but honestly, I'm not sure I can gather up the courage to face the summer heat and humidity. :scared1:

We are currently talking over four different locations for next years family trip. San Juan Islands, WA, Orlando, FL, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Northern CA specifically the Santa Cruz, Monterey and Bay area. The only reason I'm even thinking that far ahead is because some of the timeshares go quickly.

They all have their pros and cons, so we'll see. Making a decision is always the hardest part for me.

Hey Beth I am sure Noelle will be fine. When Lynn got her's on she had some pain but they usually recommend a pain releiver like Tylenol or whatever and that helps. She should be fine in a day or so. After that it will just be when she gets the adjustments. I am sure she will do great and so many kids have them I don't think she will feel self conscious and she is so gorgeous nothing will take away from that!! ;)

Good luck on your decision for your vacation! All those places are lovely. I have been to all except Myrtle Beach but have heard it is really fun! I am sure wherever you chose you will have a blast!!

I don't know WHAT we are going to do. At this point after my DL trip and my trip with mom to OR I have NO more plans for the immediate future. I seriously doubt our Oct trip is going to happen unless the airfare goes WAY down and I am just hoping that we can make the diva trip!

Mom really wanted us to go to her place in Mexico next year but Shane and I's passports expired this year and with EVERYTHING else I didn't want to spend the money and time to renew them if we weren't taking a trip anytime soon and then the girls don't have them yet and on and on. Plus I KNOW we are going to want to go back to DL next summer for the whole cars thing but I am not even renewing my AP for the first time in 5 years. It is up in June on our last day of our trip but I don't want to have to pay the fee but rather am using all my money for our trip. So I am going to let it expire and IF we go on the ladies trip I will just get a new one at that time.

Katy has her 6th grade camping trip next year that is about 300 bucks and then yesterday shelby brought home a flier that they are thinking about doing a 5th grade trip now. I about passed out. They want 500 bucks for it. They have NEVER done this before and I am stressing cuz next year is rightfully Katy's turn and she deserves it but I would hate to not let Shelby go with her class but that is a LOT of money. It sounds bad but I am almost hoping that a lot of other parents can't do it either and it doesn't happen. The 6th grade trip is a given and happens every year but this is a new thing for the 5th graders and as much as I would love for her to do it I just can't afford 2 trips in one year AND I don't think it is fair to Katy since it is "her" year. So hopefully it all works out. But either way with having to save for those trips it is going to put a dent in our vacation plans. Cuz we still have our normal soccer/swim etc to pay for. So not sure if we will be doing much of anything next year. I fear that with the girls getting closer and closer to high school and all the fees associated with that our days of doing much are going to be dwindling LOL.

I will be anxious to hear what you decide! I can live vicariously through you!! ;)

Although these are all places we'd love to visit, the northern CA trip comes up quite often when deciding our next trip.

Since yesterday was a holiday and the kids had no school I told them they could pick anywhere or anything to do. They all picked swimming so I was forced to wear a bathing suit in public:eek: It was a lot of fun though, my brother came too. He's 23 but is always more than happy to babysit or come on our outings to help out. We even got my stubborn 6 yr old to put in face in the water and by the end of the day he was jumping off the side of the pool.

Brad and I are going to look at travel trailers today, I can't wait to go on a road trip:)

Have a great day everyone!

Tell me about it. The older they get the more expensive everything is!! And I thought it was bad when they were babies. LOL I'd gladly go back to buying diapers at this point. LOL They were cheap compared to some of the fees now.

In November I'm going to be living vicariously through Sarah, Cheryl, Stacie, Vicki, and Heather. So jealous that they'll all be in WDW at the same time!

The northern CA is probably most appealing to me right now because I don't have to fly to get there, unlike all the other places listed. The only downside is there are no timeshares in the area so we'd need to find a hotel that is affordable and holds 6 (not likely) or look into rental properties, which I have no clue where to begin doing that. So, lots to consider still. But fun to plan, I guess. lol

Sounds like your swim day was fun! And last time I saw you, you were looking great, so I don't know why you'd worry about a swim suit!!

Have fun travel trailer shopping. Hope you find some good deals!

Don't forget about me, Beth - I'll be there from Nov 8-13, too!:woohoo:

Just a quick hello from me. Bree & I had a fabulous trip to WDW. We just got back Sunday evening. The last few days were too HOT and humid, but the crowds were fairly low all week. Our favorite thing was the Tea Party at the Grand Floridian. It's such a lovely resort. I want to stay there. ;)

HI and have a good day everyone. :)

Maybe you could take a nap, Beth? I love naps, but rarely take them.
And pixie dust to Wendy on getting her brakes fixed. I am so sorry life is been a bummer lately.

Welcome back Linda!

I saw your pics on FB and it looks like you both had a FAB time!! I just have to say again that you two are the cutest!! Just love you both!! I am glad you had a good time!

Beth have you thought about looking into one of those places that have suites? Or like an extended stay type place that has rooms that are like condos? Just trying to think of other options. Not really sure what all is available in that area. I have a friend that lives in Monterey. I can ask her if she knows of anything and also my mom goes there every single year in August for the historic races. Just make sure if you go go in the BEGINNING of summer because during that time of year you won't GET a room LOL. Mom has to book a whole year in advance LOL. Good luck and it is a beautiful place if it works out!! If you DO go you should take a side trip to Gilroy and go to the theme park they have there. I can't remember the name off the top of my head but they have beautiful gardens I have heard. Might be fun :)

No biggie. Just don't answer the phone when the bill collectors call. That's what I do. And as for groceries, just watch an episode of Extreme Couponing and low and behold you can get $1,200 worth of stuff for like 5 cents!! It's amazing. Of course, all you'll get is 600 bottles of mustard and 900 tubes of toothpaste, but hey, I'm sure you can whip something up with that. :thumbsup2

Above all, hang in there. We are here for ya, and love a good pity party any day. :grouphug:

If I even kind of liked mustard, I would look into that. I can't help but think of The Terminal when he makes a "sandwich" out of sodium crackers and mustard. Yuck!

My cats food doesn't smell too bad, maybe I can REALLY become a "cat lady."

Yeah PARTEEEEEEE ok pity party but what the heck as long as it is a party. I can celebrate anything.

Yes make sure you have caller Id and only answer calls from family. I do not pay bills -- I know how but it kills me to pay out money that was doing just fine in the bank. Dad's are so handy to have around. I think fixing your brakes would make him happy-- Dad's are like that.

Anyway for real Wendy-- I hope car gets fixed for as cheaply as possible.

night all

 Parties are always fun! I have a bill collector on my bum already, so I'm good at avoiding those calls. :rolleyes1

I had craptastic sleep too. Not only was I stressing about my brakes, but I knew my grades would be posted today and I was freaking out.

Noelle doesn't seem like she'd be self conscious about anything, she's so outgoing. She'll be fine. :thumbsup2

I feel ya, I haven't been on vacation since I went to Vegas last July, and I was only able to go because my room was comped. Other than that, I wont be going anywhere until the Disneyland 1/2, even then I don't plan on going to the parks. And hopefully *fingers crossed* I make it on the Girls Trip next year. Other than that, I will be enjoying all that sunny Sacramento has to offer. :rotfl2:

Yay for swimming! Have fun looking at travel trailers and thinking about road trips!

In November I'm going to be living vicariously through Sarah, Cheryl, Stacie, Vicki, and Heather. So jealous that they'll all be in WDW at the same time!

How exciting for them!

I'm glad you and Bree had a fun time at WDW. Big monkey hugs to the both of you!

My mom is such a saint, she went to work two hours early just so I could borrow her car today. :worship:

I just got some happy news! I won a $25 Target gift card from a contest I entered last Friday. I know what my mom's getting as a thank you gift for letting me borrow her car!

What? I didn't know that you'd be there as well. Dang it, now I'm really jealous. A few of my favorite Divas in one spot and I won't be there! :sad2: You guys are going to have a great time. :)
And I am so happy I'll get to see some of you in October!

Beth have you thought about looking into one of those places that have suites?
I can stay at the Santa Cruz Travelodge with 3 double beds for only $304 a night!! :thumbsup2

Not.

LOL
I'm not worried. If that's where we decide to go, I'll most likely look into vacation home rentals. Something will work out, I'm sure.

Other than that, I will be enjoying all that sunny Sacramento has to offer. :rotfl2:
Hey, "staycations" can be fun! We did one last summer. And you are close to Lake Tahoe, right? I honeymooned there. It's so pretty!

Yay!! I never win a gosh darn thing.
I'm sure your mom will be happy, and it was nice of her to help you out. But, that's what moms do. :goodvibes

DH and I took the kids to the Rivercats game. We had such a blast. Two more days off then back to work for finals....woo hoo!

The game on Sunday? DH and I were there too! LOL!

I know what you mean! Used to be Sacramento to Santa Ana on Southwest was $69 each way on the "wanna get away" fare. When I looked a couple weeks ago it was $109 each way! :scared1:

Looking at October right now, I can get $98 each way. Better, but still not great. Trish was talking about driving in March. Airfare would have to get a whole lot higher for me to do the 7+ hour drive each way..... LOL

Do you watch for the DING fares? I recently got SNA to San Jose for $62. The trouble is not as far ahead of planning. Right now the Ding fares coming out are for July. I imagine part way through June they will switch to August etc...

Staycations are fun if you have money to do something and can get a hotel for a night.

Tahoe is 100 miles away and takes about a full tank of gas, with the way gas prices are, that's about a weeks worth of groceries for me! :scared1:

If it makes you feel better, it was more of an investment. The site I won it from has a yearly membership fee.

The game on Sunday? DH and I were there too! LOL!

I thought about going, does that count? ;)

Airfare is ridiculous! Especially when you're not able to plan ahead. :sad2:

I just booked my friends return flight to Houston from LAX for $104 one way. It was the best fare I could find and only 2.5 weeks out. The problem with southwest is you need to keep checking the fares as they change frequently!! However the best rate I found for her to fly out was $129 and I booked that over a month ago and I haven't seen it anywhere near that lately. Now it is over $200 for the same flight. Other flights that same day are over $300!

sa-WEET!

And I am LOL about your cat food comment. I opened up one of those "designer label" cans of cat food last year and was thinking that the cat was eating better than I was. Their food costs more than ours, ounce for ounce. Truly.

I bought the $1 a can cat food once too Lisa, and I agree, it smelled pretty darn good!:upsidedow Are you finished with jury duty? Can you tell us anything about the case?

Kelly - thanks for the kind words. :) We really had a nice trip. I really needed the time off of work. The daily grind gets to you, you know? I think I gained 5 pounds with all the good food, but I refuse to step on the scale. :rolleyes1Sounds like you are going to be busy with the girls this summer. And enjoy your June DL trip. princess:

Aren't all the tornados just awful? Whenever I start to feel sorry for myself, I just turn on the news and see all the devastation all over this country. I feel so bad for all those people. :sad1:

Off to cook dinner. At least I'm eating healthy tonight...grilled chicken breast and boiled parsley potatos. And some cabbage. :thumbsup2

True. Gas is just crazy right now.

Me, too. It's so sad.

mmm...toothpaste and mustard smoothies....my favorite!

Oh how funny! Too bad we didn't discuss this earlier or we could have met for a beer!

Wendy~ Next time go! :cool2:

So we bought me a new car today!!! :dance3: I am now the proud owner of a 2007 Jeep Liberty in a shiny black. I love it!!! It was a great price and there are only 40,000 miles on it. Yay! Now it's time to finish grading papers and finalize the final I am writing for my ASL 2 class. I think I will take it easy on them just to surprise them...

Jen~ I have a Jeep Liberty Renegade! I freakin love it! I have had it for 8 months!

The storms are awful! Jordan's step mom called & the garage roof was uplifted, their huge tree is now 5 houses down, and they have huge lots in that neighborhood, but she was just thankful that she wasn't still at work then the twister came. She works at jail & didn't want to be stuck there!
