Thanks Katie, you're the best! I'm only a 7 hour drive away, are you sure you don't want to give me a ride?
That stinks Wendy. I have the "when it rains it pours" kinda luck too. I hope you get it resolved without going broke or having to ride a scooter to work...
Believe me, I would use a scooter or a bike or walk to work if it weren't so darned far away (30 minutes by car and that's mostly on the interstate). Boo for our "when it rains, it pours luck," even though it looks like we're in some good company when it comes to this kind of stuff!
Yep, sometimes, life can be a real *****. I feel your pain when it comes to auto repairs. I swear, if the old mini van we are driving now breaks down, well, it's bus pass time for us. Seriously.

Good luck and I hope it all works out for you. Things usually do in the end.

And I'm just glad you were close to home and weren't hurt!
I'm not picky! I borrowed my grandmas car to get to work. She has a Buick LeSabre, I felt so weird driving her big boat of a car! I've considered a bus pass in the past, but unfortunately the schedule in no way caters to me.
Am I nuts for seriously thinking about going to Orlando next summer (2012) and...... *gasp*....... not doing Disney?????
We can get a timeshare in early June from my aunt for a fairly cheap price, and there is tons to do just around the resort. Plus there is so many other things to do in the area. We went to Gatorland and loved it. And I've always wanted to try an airboat ride. I'm just not sure if I'll be kicking myself for not going once we are actually there.
I also toyed with going to Universal Orlando since I've never been there, but I'm not sure there's enough there to interest me.
Hmmm, what to do, what to do....
As long as you take me, I see no problem.
Wendylady, I am sure you already checked but have you checked the brake fluid? It might also be a hose with a tear so the fluid is leaking out. If the brakes just went from good to the floor it seems like it is going to be fluid related. No harm in checking. If there is a college near by that has an auto shop you might be able to get work done by just paying for parts.
There must be some really nice friends that would love to help you out. It is even ok to cry for 5 mins then get a plan of attack. I sure wish cars would fix themselves but we know how well that works. GL -- it will work out.

Thanks for the helpful information!

My brakes have been "yelling" at me for a few weeks now. I just don't have the income to fix them.

My ex offered to put them in if I bought them, but between you and me I don't really trust him to do it right.
Wendy~ I always have my dad do my brakes for me....much cheaper than paying a shop. We go over to Napa and buy the stuff we need. Do you have anyone that knows how to do that?
I'm working on my dad now. I feel bad asking him though, because his birthday is tomorrow and I feel horrible bugging him about it.
Sorry to hear about the runaway teens, I hope they come home soon.
Wendy I am so sorry about your car troubles. I know how you feel. I had those same problems a few months back. First my brakes went then I needed 4 new tires.
Thanks Kelly. I had to get new tires in January! They were my birthday gift. Too bad I only get one birthday a year!
Car troubles just stink!
You gals are the best.

I just was so frustrated earlier, but I'm starting see a light at the end of the tunnel. Worst case, I don't get groceries for awhile or I pay my bills late. It's not the end of the world, I just feel better venting...sorry, you all had to be a part of my pity party.
I hope you all have a great evening!!
