"Diva" Trip - "Cliff Notes" p.236 OLD THREAD!

Well ladies I am finally home and exhausted. The play was a smash the kids did really well! The cast party afterwards was a lot of fun with hugs from a lot of the cast and crying from a few that they won't get to see us every day anymore. Warms the heart to know you made an impact. Many of them will likely be in the play next year too but 5 of them will be moving up to high school and on to another drama squad where I hope they have just as much fun.

The planned adult champagne toast after the cast party turned into something that should be saved for weekends not work nights, and we just got home but I think we all needed to blow off a little steam. It was fun we are exhausted and just wanted to stop by and let you all know it was a success. Did take a minute to catch up some and have a few answers then I am going to bed!

Carnation Cafe makes really good Cinnamon Roll French toast !

I never travel, but the few places I like like to see are the Bat Caves - forgot the official name, and the Grand Canyon. I never had a desire to go far from home.

We have done the Grand Canyon when we lived in AZ and it is amazing but will never have the draw of my favorite place...can you guess? Which Bat Caves? My step-daughter lives in Austin Texas and when we go down to visit a must do is the bridge which houses the largest urban bat population in the world. We just take a picnic dinner and watch them as they fly out from under the bridge and circle around getting their groups together and fly off for the night, It is an amazing thing to see and the first time we all went I was not sure we would like it but it is so amazing.

Hi to all,

Nice to meet you all. (Even though I feel like I know a few of you already.)

I am finally going to toss my mickey ears into the Diva's trip planning thread and officially start planning my first Diva Trip with you all.

My name is Patty AKA Gamma to 2 of the best grand kids. Boy soon to be 7 and Girl soon to be 4. We are going to celebrate their birthday's with Mickey.

Grandma and Grandpa are taking family to DL this May. ( not a big family -only daughter, son-in-law and the 2 kids.) I planned so much for this trip to have Disney toss in the POC screening OUR weekend. Not happy about this but not going to let it ruin our trip.

I have lurked on this tread for a LOOONNNG time.

During the Diva Adventure I plan to try new restaurants, part take in the scavenger hunt, watch the shows, and generally have a Hoop De Do time. Oh, I forgot, drink a glass of that wine I read so much about Magicale I think is name.

I am applying for a "Great Weather Card" for the trip next year, so no weather worries now :).

I will try to get a picture up soon. I need daughter to help me -- actually Austen probably knows how --poor Gamma.

Well keep posting. I enjoy reading, but now I can actually reply.

I am so excited and it is still 11 months away.

Happy Patty

:dance3: :yay: :dance3: :yay: :dance3: :yay:

Welcome aboard glad to have you here !

I have a quick question for any ladies who have been to New York. DH and I are planning a trip (without kids:cool1:) in September and I am clueless about where to stay. Even suggestions on areas to look into or avoid would be helpful! We plan on doing the usual tourist stuff. Actually we'll be getting a city pass so everything here http://www.citypass.com/new-york We don't need much other than a clean place to stay. Thank you!

Morning!!

Welcome Patty!! I have been on the trip twice now and you will love it!! Hope you can make it and look forward to getting to know you on the thread!!

Angie I went to NY in 09 and I am sure there are a lot of people that prob have opinions but I can tell you that a lot of people prob try to stay up in the Times Square area as that is where a lot of the action is and you can prob get deals on rooms there but it was SUPER busy and I DEF would not want to be there. It is def the city that doesn't sleep and if that doesn't bother you then it prob wouldn't be a big deal but we prefer things a little more peaceful. We actually stayed down in Battery Park down by the WTC site and by the Statue of Liberty. It was a bit farther by subway or cab to the other attractions but we stayed in a REALLY nice Embassy Suites that had a view of the Hudson AND Liberty and we were still close to sites on that end of town. I can tell you getting a 1 or 2 day pass for the double decker bus is def the way to go also. It was the best way to get around town! It stops every few blocks and you can just hop on and off the entire length you have the ticket and we never used the subway or cabs except for the few times we wanted to divert off the route of the bus. We took the subway the night that we went to Broadway and then took a cab home because we didn't want to ride the subway that late at night. If you have any other questions feel free to ask but we had a BLAST and you will LOVE it!! :) Also FYI if you want to tour Liberty Island you need to get timed tickets ahead of time to go into the crown or the base of the statute! ENJOY!! :)

Anyway we are off today to the big field trip. Katy and I are super excited but of course the weather is absolutely awful LOL. Yesterday the sun actually came out and it was gorgeous and I kept thinking WHY couldn't today but tomorrow!! But of course we have yet ANOTHER ugly storm with high winds and rain. NOT going to be fun riding in a school bus down to the bay in that weather but luckily we will be inside the museum most of the day once we get there.

Then last night I was starting to get a stupid migraine but I think I got it staved off thank goodness! That's ALL I need when I have to be in charge of a bunch of 5th graders LOL.

Anywho we will be gone all day so have a great day all and Lisa hope your fence does ok! I lost my flag pole last weekend! The wind ripped it right out of my porch!

Wishing all the Divas headed to WDW safe and comfortable travel. Can't wait to hear all about your adventure!

Theresa - I'll be there during D23!! I know there are a few others as well - we'll have to plan a meal. I'll be there with my dh and two oldest kids. :cool1:

Yay - that would be great!

Kathy-I love the DisDivaland logo! That would look so fantastic on a shirt!

Laurie-I have been reading your trip report, and it's been so fun to remember some of the Diva moments. I love all your photos, especially the pics of the yummy Disneyland food!

Welcome to all the new Divas!

We are starting to plan a family trip for November (after Thanksgiving). The girls are getting so excited!

Theresa - at this time I am not planning to start a thread for this but maybe when it gets closer if other people are interested in going. I have not been before but it looks like it is all day Saturday, so if there are a few of us maybe we could get together for dinner. I am planning to stay the Friday and Saturday night, probably at the Embassy Suites.

Morning ladies!!

Laurie - I really hope you get to go during Christmas! It is my favorite time! We have been the last 7 years during December. This will be the first year we won't go - but I am going in Oct for the Halloween season since I have really wanted to see that.

Loved your TR - you take great photos!

I do couponing too! I feel like I'm one of those "extreme couponers" at Rite Aid. I seriously love that place... I use iheartriteaid dot com and I also have my own blog, which is howmuchisaved on blogger. I have been able to get 6 months or a years supply of deodorant, lotion, sensitive toothpaste, vitamins, cold medicine, you name it, for almost free. Like someone else said, just pay sales tax. I also have been able to donate a box full of stuff to the women's shelter and another one to a school near my work that is in a very poor zone (they give the kids play money for being good and they can purchase basic needs items from the school "store").

Don't forget you can get 1/2 price tickets to the current plays by going to the TKTS booth the day of. We got tickets to The Producers and Beauty and the Beast this way - and good seats!

Good morning, ladies!! Wow, lots of chatting last night. I'm gonna have to catch up here.........

Hope all is well with the bubbies, Mel. I just got my letter that it's time for another one. Really, wasn't that just a couple days ago :confused3 Bummer.
Ugh, I hate those. All my annual appointments take place in June and I am dreading them all. :sad2:

OMG!
there is no way for me to say everything to everyone since I have been gone for a week. I had a good time in AZ and don't want to be home. :sad2:
Welcome back, Vicki. Glad you had fun!

My car was in the shop today for what STARTED OUT to be maintenance and ended up being a replaced head gasket. OUCH. I keep chanting "I have no car payment. I have no car payment."... LOL!
I feel your pain! Keep saying that, over and over and over and over.....

My son who was 12 at the time was ordering food all the time. One time he said he was going to order just a little snack. He ended up with a sandwich, 2 salads, a lot of friut and dessert. He was having so much fun !
LOL Sounds like something I would do!

:rotfl2: at Wendy Williams.... When I first caught a glimpe of her talk show I thought she was a dude... :rolleyes1
I know!! My DH keeps saying he wonders when the truth will come out that she is really a man. lol
