Hi everyone!! Hope you all are having a great weekend! I actually have today and tomorrow off! Woooo! So Im gonna kick back with my laptop and catch up..or at least try to lol

Happy Belated Birthday Kelly!!:hug::cool1:

It's official! I'm doing the Tinkerbell Half!!

Woo hoo!!!:cheer2: Hopefully I can get the money to sign up before it fills up!

It is a lazy, rainy day over here. I spent the first part of the day having some girl time watching movies, snacking, and painting our nails. Tonight we have the awards party for my son's baseball team.

Just curious - is anyone on a PTC or PTA at their kids school? I am looking for some fresh ideas for this next school year for events/fundraisers.

Jen - I'm on my kids' school PTO.

Hope you all are having a great weekend.

I have been on my son's PTC/SSC, District Committees for fundraising, etc. for 10+ years. Feel free to PM me with questions.

I'll be there that weekend & I think I'm pretty cool :cutie:.

Can't wait to see everyone!

See another cool kid :cool2:

And I am like Beth, Deb, Cheryl and Katie....one of the cool kids;) I will be going to the Halloween party Friday Oct 21st. Can't wait for the mini-meet. :)

And another cool kid :cool2::cool2:

Nothing much going on here today, just kicking back. Tonight Ruben and I are going out to dinner, and then we got free tickets through House Seats to see Wilson Phillips.
Hmmm, last weekend it was the Go-Go's, this weekend it's Wilson Phillips. I'm sensing a real retro 80's theme going on here! :rotfl: I think I only know 2....maybe 3 of their songs, but hey, free is free so we'll go hang out for a bit.

Talk to y'all later!!

OMG! I loved Wilson Phillips in JR high!

Morning ladies!! Things have been wackadoodle around here!! Went to Rhode Island for family graduations and then Napa with our best friends. Had a great time at both - we left Napa with over 7 cases of wine!!!

7 cases of wine?? ummm ya a little jealous!!

This past year our school had 2 book fairs (between them the school earns $20K in books from Scholastic).

We also do a fundraiser with a company by the name of Signature. I'm not a huge fan of this one but we raised almost $9K. They sell wrapping paper and little gifts.

This year was the first year we did a Holiday Shop. We chose Aim Fundraising. They delivered us all of the items ready to sell. We used a class room. The kids came in during the day and shopped for presents for their family and friends. We made almost $1K, not a huge fundraiser but the kids loved being able to pick out presents for their family members.

Aim Fundraising (http://www.aimfundraising.com/index.php) offer a lot of different ideas.

Also our annual read-a-thon costs almost nothing to run and we raised $7K. All we do is send home 4 sheets to track each child's reading by minutes. The kids get sponsors (either flat fee or whatever money/minute). The PTO was able to get sponsors in local towns for coupons and prizes for the top readers in each class, grade, and the school.

Besides these we also collect Box Tops For Education, Campbells Soup Labels, Tyson Project A+ labels, empty printer cartridges, Coke Reward Points.

Make sure your parents also know about Target, they give a % of their customers purchases to the school. The purchase must have been made with a Target card (Visa or Debit) and the card needs to be linked to the cardholder's school of choice.

We're also signed up with the website Good Search. They are a search engine like google that gives 1 cent per search but they also give % (different for each site) of purchased made through the links you find. Ex. Purchasing something on Amazon (getting there though their site) will give your organization .5-1.5% (depending on the item).

I'm sure there's more that I'm forgetting right now. I'll go back through my PTO folder and post back later.

Hope this helps. The biggest thing of course is parent involvement, the more parents involved the more the school benefits.

Steph

Morning all!

Bridget sounds like you had some fun on your trips!! Glad you are back.

Beth sounds like a fun time! I love the 80's groups because of course that was my era LOL. Glad you had fun!!

Patty actually I have had meds for my migrianes for years. I take a couple preventatives daily Topomax and a blood pressure med but unfortunately they don't always work. They basically make the frequency and severity less but that's about it. And as for the actual meds for when I DO get a headache I have some samples right now. I used to take Imitrex and then another one which I am spacing at the moment but my problem is I have been having migraines since I was 18 and I get kind of immune to them after time. So he tried me on some new ones. Sumatriptan and relpax. Both just were OK. Took the edge off but didn't completely take the headache away. So that is what my apt is for tomorrow is to see what I thought of the samples and which one I think he should prescribe. Honestly I don't know what to tell him because neither were great. It has been a long ongoing battle to find one med that works really well cuz I have become so immune to so many. Will be interesting to see what he thinks tomorrow!

January thanks for the B-day wishes and enjoy your days off!!

Paula do you get migraines as well? Does the weather affect yours? I know that is one of my many triggers. The barometric changes bother me among EVERYTHING else it seems and I think that is what got me this time. I hope you did ok at work last night and were able to get rid of yours!

The girls did OK at their meet yesterday but I felt SO bad for them. It rained ALL day yesterday and was just miserable. But they did their best and I give everyone a lot of credit for being out in that miserable weather. Everyone was completely soaked when they got home.

Today we are just hanging at home and relaxing because it is raining YET again and supposed to rain again tomorrow. The girls have their field day at school tomorrow and I feel bad for them because I don't know if they will still do it and if they have to cancel I am not sure if they can do it a different day because they have a bunch of other stuff going on this week. This stupid weather has really messed a bunch of stuff up! The forecast says it should be over by wed so hopefully they are right!

I just hope it doesn't rain on Tues for the kids day at the waterpark! That would be miserable for them.

Anywho hope everyone has a good relaxing Sunday and take care!

Good afternoon, ladies!! Wow this weekend is just flying by. Hope you enjoyed it.
Right now I am just kicking back at home with the twins. Already went grocery shopping so that's done. Noelle is out with a friend and Ruben took Adam to see a movie.
This week is the last week of school! I can't wait for them to be done already. :cool1:

I'm right there with you on the headache! I woke up with one last night and worked all night with it. It is pretty bad right now and so far not going away.
I saw on FB that you made it out to Kohls and scored some good deals, so I hope that means you are feeling better.

Date night I see Miss Beth. You know this could become a habit :). Now why would you want to move away from Vegas? You have it all there, great restaurants, attractions, headliner shows, and great people watching ---Oh ya and that bad habit gambling. Free is a good price for sure. Have a wonderful time and be home before midnight :). I heard that plenty of times in days past.

It's true, there is no shortage of things to do here, and as a local, we get tons of freebies and discounts, but I get restless if I'm in any one place too long. If I could, I'd pack up and move someplace new every year. Thankfully I am not into gambling at all. It doesn't tempt me in the least. Good thing considering they even have slot machines in the grocery stores out here!! lol
Enjoy your day planting in your garden. :)

Hi everyone!!
Hey chica! I was just thinking about you the other day. Hope things are going well for you.

Just curious - is anyone on a PTC or PTA at their kids school? I am looking for some fresh ideas for this next school year for events/fundraisers.
I wanted to join the PTA at the twin's elem school when we first moved here, but the women who were part of it already all seemed to know each other forever, and well, let's just say they were less than welcoming. :sad2: I felt so left out I just stopped trying.

OMG! I loved Wilson Phillips in JR high!
It was surprisingly fun! They sang their most popular songs, as well as songs from The Eagles, ABBA, Beach Boys, Mamas and the Papas, Elton John, etc. We enjoyed it and since it was another outdoor concert I was happy the weather wasn't too warm and a nice breeze was blowing. :)

Hope this helps. The biggest thing of course is parent involvement, the more parents involved the more the school benefits.

Steph
I always read your posts on FB about things you've done for the schools, and am so impressed. My hat's off to you! :worship:

Fingers crossed for no rain!! And good luck tomorrow at the doctor.

One last thing, I wanted to get on here earlier to cheer on Sarah for her run in San Diego this morning. It's over now, but I'll still say..... GO SARAH! I hope you did awesome!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

All the Diva runners kick ***!! :thumbsup2 You all rock for being so dedicated. :cheer2:

:lmao: Sounds like my family when we leave my grandparents. My grandfather is making his own wine now (his retirement hobby I suppose) and every year when we go to help out we come back with caes of his wine.

Thanks Steff~ We do a lot of what you mentioned. Our Books and Beyond program brings in no money though since we just track the books the students read and then reward prizes as they progress through the 8 levels. I will have to bring up the idea of turning it into a read-a-thon sort of thing. My church uses Good Search for our youth ministries to save for camp. That is a great site!

What a bummer! I joined last year into a group of women I barely knew. Luckily they have taken me in. The area the boys go to school is one of the nicer areas in Roseville and I am grateful that the PTC have looked past my tattoos. Before I was involved I had so many people staring at me and I felt like they were judging me because I don't fit in to that area. Hopefully the work I have put in to make our school better has helped changed some opinions.

Today has been such a lazy day! We went to church this morning and then came home and watched a movie and took a nap. ah! I really should go clip my coupons, but it is no fun

Just wanted to check in and say hi. Today was ok. I didn't get as much done as I would have liked but I did get some things done including my workout and I took the kids to the park.

Morning all!

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Man I am so glad I wasn't at DL THIS weekend and hope that next week when we go it isn't as horrible as it was this past one! EEK! I am hoping that was just the opening day madness and that between the special fp's and MM that we are able to ride the two new rides (scared!!) Back when we orig planned this trip they didn't have the dates for the opening of these rides yet or else I wouldn't have planned it at this time but also the reason we did it for THIS week is because my pass expires on our last day and the girls expires the following week and since they don't get out of school till THIS week it was pretty much next week or nothing. So I guess we will just hope for the best.

Today is going to be a pretty busy day for me. As soon as I drop the girls off at school I have to go straight to my doc apt and then to work and then straight from work to picking them up and then straight to piano. So LONG day today! Then they have swim tonight although it is supposed to rain today and possibly thunder so it is anyone's guess as to what will happen. But today is FINALLY supposed to be the last of the rain at least for THIS week. They are predicting the 80's by wed so that is good! Still not sure what they are going to do about field day for the kids today but I know they usually do it in the morning so maybe they will get lucky and the rain will hold off.

Tomorrow we have sunsplash and I am glad it is going to warm up and NO rain! I get to chaperone that one but I will be sitting in my lounge chair off to the side. No bathing suit for this white whale LOL. I will be sitting back and taking pics and keeping kids in check but staying OUT of the water LOL. I guess the teachers are going to swim but not sure about the other parents.

Then wed is my one and only day to finish up any laundry and start packing because I have to work again on Thursday and Friday is the last day of school and Mary Poppins. So busy busy!

Hope everyone has a great day today and for those that have the last week of school hope you have lots of fun stuff going!

Good morning, ladies!! Monday rears it's ugly head once more.
Oh well, at least it is the last Monday of this school year here!! :cool1: I cannot wait for school to end and with it say bye-bye to early mornings and hours of homework. Gee, it's like I'm a kid all over again. lol

And thankfully it's been pretty cool here lately. In fact right now it's windy and only in the low 60's. I told the girls to wear a hoodie. Although it will warm up later. Upper 80's and low 90's this week. Still better than triple digits!! :thumbsup2

Have a great day everyone. :)

I'm sure it has. I wondered with all those tattoos if you get judged. I would think so. Even though it's wrong, some people see someone with a lot of tattoos and they automatically assume they have a certain persona, maybe a bit wild perhaps? ;)
Definitely not the sweet, generous, PTC and church-going, Disney-loving mom you are.

Hi Sarah. Always good to see you here. Good job on the workout! How are those precious kiddos of yours? Are they asking to go back to Hawaii yet? I know my kids would be. lol

:cool1: Busy, but fun!

Hi Sarah. When do you leave for San Diego?

Does Little Mermaid have a fastpass?

We left Saturday morning and came home last night.

There is no FP for Little Mermaid but if you stay at one of the 3 Disney hotels during the summer you get 2 FP's per person that can be used on any ride that has FP or they will have a "special" FP line for Little Mermaid during the summer.

It's official! I'm doing the Tinkerbell Half!!

:cool1: I found out from the RunDisney booth at the SD R&R 1/2 on Saturday that the medal is going to be Tink's wings with a Tink in the middle that spins. Sounds neat!

:cheer2:

Thanks! I ran it in 2 hours 47 minutes! About 45 seconds faster that my last 1/2 Marathon. :thumbsup2 I didn't carry a camera this time but as soon as they put up the pictures I will post a few.

Beth, I signed up for the Las Vegas Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon at the Expo. It's December 4th at 5:30pm. We start at Mandalay Bay and run up the Strip to Fremont Street and then back down the Strip, ending where we started. I'm excited for a night time run!

We're going to be there Friday-Monday so hopefully we can meet up. :thumbsup2

I think we're going to stay at the Luxor, it's right next to the start and I can get a discounted rate since I'm signed up to run.

Yay!!! How fun!! Okay, we are definitely going to go down and cheer for you and all the other runners. :woohoo:
And yes, we have to find a time to meet up while you are here. :thumbsup2

Anyone else doing this run?? Come on, it sounds fun. Not that I'm gonna run it. :rolleyes1 :lmao: But I will cheer for whom ever does. ::yes::
