"Diva" Trip - "Cliff Notes" p.236 OLD THREAD!

Just can't do it and expect to be able to afford both the 1/2 in January and then the girls trip 1 month later.

Well, it's too bad you can't make it in Oct., but you have some fun plans to look forward to!

so off the subject but my dd just lost her lunch. She seems fine now so I am thinking maybe it was just something she ate didn't agree with her. Luckily the kids go with a friend of ours on Wednesdays so we don't need to worry about keeping her out of daycare as long as she doesn't throw up again. Ah, the joys of parenthood. I kind of wish I could stay home with her tomorrow, but it would be irresponsible of me not to go to work when I have a perfectly good alternative child care option.

Morning all!

All this talk of Halloween sounds fun. I am sure for those of you who go you will have a great time!!

I seriously doubt our trip is going to happen. It is not a definite no but because airfare is SO ridiculous right now I seriously don't see it happening. If we were going for a whole week or something we could drive but it just doesn't make sense to drive for 7 hours for only a few days. I know some people do it but for us it is just not worth it. It takes pretty much a whole day going and then coming back and that really cuts into our time and the girls would have to miss school as it is and I wanted those days to be park days not DRIVING days. And the halloween tickets are so expensive on top of it I just don't know.

I really want to be able to go on the ladies trip if at all possible so if it comes down to one or the other I would like to try and do that one and unfortunately I don't think we can do both. In fact for the first time in 5 years I am letting my AP expire after our trip in 2 weeks. That was one of the reasons we really wanted to go this time because for the first time in a long time we ALL have AP's and the girls and I's expire in June and so we wanted to get one last trip out of them. Shane's is good till December but I don't see another trip in our future because like I said I am letting the girl's and I's expire. IF I can do the ladies trip I will get a new one then.

There are so many things that we want to do but everything is just SO dang expensive right now. Mom and I really wanted to go to her place in Mexico next spring but I doubt that is going to happen either because Shane and I's passports expire this summer and I don't want to spend the money for THOSE on top of everything else and then the girls would need one too. Plus the airfare down there. Well forget it LOL.

Soo I think for now we are just shooting for hopefully the ladies trip and that's bout it. Then I am hoping that we will all be able to go sometime next summer again to see Carsland opening. But other than that I don't think we will be doing much other traveling that doesn't involve driving until the airfare comes WAY down. Just too crazy!

Girls didn't have swim last night because our pool pump was having issues and then today we are supposed to get thunderstorms so we got a BIG break this week LOL. We didn't have practice on Monday because of the holiday so we may only have it once this week!

I am just hoping that the weather doesn't affect our meet on Saturday!

Otherwise not too much else going on. Next week is the big week for the girls. Lots going on the last week. They have their field day on Monday and Tuesday is Katy's Sunsplash field trip (it's a waterpark) and then they have a bunch of other fun stuff that goes on the last week so it will be a busy week and then next Friday we are going to see Mary Poppins and of course Sunday we leave!!! So I am excited for next week!!!

Wow! It's almost time for your trip!! The last few days before a trip seem to drag, at least for me, but it sounds like you'll be busy enough to make sure they fly by!

Yeah we have a lot going on that last week but luckily instead of going to our swim meet the day before we opted not to do that one so we had that day to pack and get the car ready and such. That way I am not totally stressing. My mom got the tickets for Mary Poppins for my birthday which is THIS Friday and orig she got them for THIS week but I had her change them because we have a meet the next morning and it is really hard going out late the night before a meet so now we are going next week instead and then we have that whole Saturday to get ready and such. We couldn't have gone earlier anyway as our AP's are blocked and this gives us time to get organized. I am just a little nervous about the weather. I hope it is not as yucky down there as it is here and of course a bit nervous about crowds with all the new stuff openign this week but we have dealt with crowds before so we know how to deal with that but I still hope it is not too bad.

I think this is the week that is going to drag although luckily with the holiday it hopefully will go quick!

My friend has only spent 1 day at DL and never been to DCA (I wish more construction was done!) so I want her to be able to fully experience it. I hope it doesn't turn out that we feel like we are rushing everywhere. Unfortunately I am expecting HUGE crowds... all 3 of the Disney resorts are almost fully booked@ (I was hoping for an upgrade to a view room but looks like I'll be stuck with a standard)

Sounds like you have a good plan Beth . I'll be there that weekend but not at the Halloween party . We usually go to the Tuesday night parties because Devin always has football games on Friday night.

My DH reminded me that that is his birthday weekend. He turns 30 on the 20th and wants to go to Vegas. Neither of us have ever been. So it looks like a no go this year

Bummer! But Vegas is still good .

Poor thing (and poor you). Laila had a stomach bug on Friday and it is no fun at all!!! The good thing was it was only a 24 hour thing and she was back to herself in no time.

Hey All . I think I've caught up!

Hope everyone had a great long weekend. I always enjoy long weekends because it makes the following work week shorter .

I had a nice weekend filled with relaxation and some fun. I met up with some fabulous Divas on Saturday to do the Star Tours preview (thanks Stacie) and had some much needed adult only time. Devin and Adara watched Laila for 6 hours so I could go (thanks Devin & Adara).

BTW~ I really love the new Star Tours and since I'm local and go a lot, I love the fact that the ride changes each time .

MomaKate, Glad to see you took a few hours for your self. We all need that now and then. Glad you had a fun time.

Sahbushka, I always feel so bad when little ones get the stomach flu So hard for them to understand it will go away in time. It was nice you stayed home with her -- nothing better then having mommie near when you are sick. Hope she is feeling better soon.

To all of you planning DL or WDW trips -- I want to be YOU. I think I have as much fun planning as I do actually taking trip.

Kelmac, Are you helping with field day. I have to say that was always a fun day for me to help out with the events. I just love the grade school kids. They are so sweet. Have not learned to many bad habits yet. Well most have not.

Well off to buy copper river salmon at the store. Lowest price in years ( usually in the 15 dollar a pound range now 5.00 range). I hate having to buy salmon or any fish. We used to go fishing so much we would give some of our catch away. Oh, the good ole days.

I got home after 9:30 pm and was so tired from working all week and going to the Glee concert, sleeping in a hotel. I slept until 10 am on Sunday!

And I am like Beth, Deb, Cheryl and Katie....one of the cool kids I will be going to the Halloween party Friday Oct 21st. Can't wait for the mini-meet.

Yay! Looks like we've got a good group going! I can't wait! Disneyland, Halloween, and Divas. Love it. We'll have to plan a group meal or something. I'm excited to see everyone's costumes.

Morning all.

Patty I unfortunately am not going to get to help with field day this year. Last year they did it on the last day of school which didn't work out very well but I helped with it because I always volunteer to help with the last day of school activities but this year it ended up being on the monday and I have a doc apt that day. Had I known they were going to do field day that day I would have made my apt for a different day because I do enjoy helping with that one but alas can't change it now. And I am chaperoning the water park trip for the 5th and 6th graders the next day anyway

We ended up not going to swim again last night because right after I picked the girls up the weather went NUTS. It absolutely POURED and we had hail and apparently there were tornado warnings but I didn't hear them because we don't have sirens here but they put them over the tv and radio but we weren't watching or listening to either one so we missed them. Kind of scary if one actually was close enough that it touched down! But to my knowledge the only one that actually hit was up north of here about an hour away. But crazy. I am hoping the girls are able to swim tonight as they have not had practice all week and we are skipping our first Friday practice tomorrow night to go out for my bday. Not looking forward to starting 5 day a week practices after this week although it will be a few weeks before we have to do it anyway because we won't be at next weeks or the week after so we get a bit of a reprive

Katy has her bbq today for making her reading goal but shelby didn't make it so all the kids who didn't make it have to stay in the class and read while all the kids who DID get to have a fun bbq and get to play games and such. So hopefully this will encourage shelby NOT to dilly dally next time cuz I sure as heck wouldn't want to be one of the kids who had to stay in the class and read while all my friends were outside having fun LOL.

Still don't know what is going to happen at our meet on Saturday. They are predicting rain and I am just hoping that we don't have lightening. That would really stink if they called the meet after we got up and drove all the way out there (it's an away meet). Plus it is so dissapointing for all the kids. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I am in such a funk today. I had a dream last night where I argued with someone so those emotions have been staying with me. Don't you just hate that? This morning was the volunteer breakfast at my son's school - the teachers make all the volunteers breakfast and give us little awards for helping the school. It is pretty sweet. While I was there, a friend of mine let me know that last Friday my older son's dad showed up in the office asking for attendance records for our son. He had asked me that day if he could pick Tahoe up from school early and I said no. that the school was watching attendence. Because of our DL trip in October and several sick days, Tahoe had 6 days absent or tardy which is above the school limit of 3. I feel like he is going behind my back to try to pull something. If he had just asked me about the absences/tardys I could have informed him of the reasons. Throughout this new custody issue I have been super honest and upfront with him and then he pulls this? grrr.... I tried to call him to talk to him about it and found out that his phone has been shut off. Again. At least mediation is on Monday and we can figure this out.

At least I have cross fit in about an hour and that should take my mind off of things.

Happy Thursday! I was planning to stay a full shift at work today (only scheduled for a half day) but my leg has been getting a little swollen and sore when I'm standing up so I ended up sticking with my original shift. I'm hoping it's just a case of me needing more water which has happened before. I'm horrible about drinking water. Mostly I just hate the taste (yes it does too have a taste ). I'm gonna do my best to make sure I start drinking more water starting now! If it doesn't help I'll see if I can get in to see my Dr.

I was able to get ahold of him and talk to him about it, luckily. If he was trying to use it against me that is now most likely not an issue. Yay! After a trip to the gym with my DH for circut training, the stree melted away and my day has been much better.

I did have to play babysitter tonight to some of my high school students at church. They are so ridiculous sometimes. You can be staring at them playing with their phones or talking during the service, but when you call them out to stop, they sit there and lie saying they were not doing anything. Do they think we are blind or stupid? Agh teens!

Pretty funny moment tonight actually. So we have this one teen that is struggling with an addiction to pot. Well, our pastor chose to play this game called "Hug the Potholder"---literally a kid with a pot from the stove. All I could think of was people hugginh this kid and told some of the staff so. Well, wouldn't you know that when the game was explained, that student volunteered to be the pot-holder. Is that ironic? haha
