I was surfing around the Disney site and just noticed that they have officially publicized the August 15th date. We've known about this date for some time, but Disney has never had much info on their own site. I know the ride is open pretty much every day now, but it sounds like they be running at full capacity by the time I get there at the end of August. Cool!

Here is the page where I found it at:

Cool!

Great news! Thanks for the info and the link :)

They are also blatantly lying in the ride description...

I take it you are referring to it's references about being interactive?

Well, it is interactive since you get to push the buttons, but the claim that the outcome of the mission depends on what the guests do is wrong - the ending is the same no matter what. Calling the crash landing a "mystical rendezvous" is more than stretching the truth a bit. For a park that claims to be educational, calling asteroids meteors and claiming that there are nebulae (notice the incorrect spelling on the web site) between the Earth and Mars is more than troubling... especially considering that there is no such thing on the ride.

Now, I love Mission: SPACE. They should advertise it for what it is instead of cooking up a bunch of untrue fluff that makes their marketing staff look like a bunch of uneducated idiots.
