We leave in 8 days! Just wondering about HS at rope drop and boat transportation. What time would you be out to catch a boat? Is it better/easier/faster to walk? How long is that walk?

I only have limited experience catching the boat to DHS. Most of the time it was great, but the one time we really needed to be there at a certain time, it seemed to take forever (of course) and we had even planned in a buffer of time, so I'm not really sure what happened. But I will say that it's a good 20-25 minute walk. We only walked it once (as a family) at park close because the line for the boat was so long, and it was long haul at the end of a long day...

Yes, there is another door just past the pool, and yes, I'm in the BC end right now (208) and those Villas in that wing will not have great parking lot access.

They are definitely putting in gates. The walkways at both ends of the pool now sport ugly concrete posts in exactly the right spot to mount gates when the fences are complete. Ah, well. Next trip we likely won't have a car, so easy access to the parking lot won't be an issue. :-)
Gates are going up now. First gate was installed by walkway that comes in by the hot tub and towel shack. Second gate by the doors to the BCV lobby going in next. And then on to the other side tomorrow. I'll report back accordingly.

Yeah, as soon as those poles went up during our last couple days at BCV I knew the pool's unfenced days were numbered. Have they painted the concrete yet or covered it or something so it's not so ugly?

It's definitely going to make it less convenient for people in the end closest to the BC lobby to get to the parking lot. Cutting through the pool area really saved time.

I like to rope drop HS, and typically leave attempt to leave my room with 45 minutes to spare. If you want to be at the font of the rope drop pack, make it an hour (especially since they often open early.) I have not had a problem, nor a very long wait, when I did this in the summer, I do look out and make sure I haven't just missed a boat. In that case, walk. You can hoof it in less than 15, but the boat is much nicer!

This time of year, I would choose to walk. I don't find the boats to be very reliable to get you to HS for rope drop. It is difficult to judge the arrival time of the boats. Also, sometimes they fill up at other stops and won't even take all of the people waiting at the docks. If you are walking, the timing is all under your own control. I would give it about 25 minutes at a moderate pace.

Does anyone know if the "hot tubs" at the quiet pools at BC/YC are actually hot?

:welcome: to the thread!

I see you have a trip to the Beach Club in June. I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:cool1:

I don't know the answer to your question and I know others are curious as well about the temps in the hot tubs at SAB and the quiet pools. We welcome any feedback from guests with upcoming trips.

:fish:

Be Our Guest List :banana::banana::banana:

If you would like to be added to the "Be Our Guest" List, post on this thread with the dates of your stay, which resort (BC, YC, BCV) and any other info you want to include (special birthday or anniversary celebration, first Disney trip, family gathering, etc.)

@ PCFriar80...noticed your profile, go Friars, currently a PC men's hockey season ticket holder. Do you still go to any games? Also planning trip to BCV but not until Aug.

I'm about 70 miles from campus so don't get up to Schneider often. Liked the championship in 2015 and still wear the gear proudly! I was there back in the Lou Lamoriello days. You'll have a great time at BCV!

On the subject of hot tubs at SAB. We only tried 2 on our recent Christmas trip. Both the one in the middle of SAB and the family one on the rocks were very hot. However, the jets went from sort of working to not at all in the tub in the center of SAB.

Yoo hooooo.... After a much too long absence, I finally pulled the trigger on booking for my 50th birthday trip! Well, my 50th is a few weeks before the trip, but I wanted to go when the crowd levels were lower. :) You can put me down for August 18th - 26th at BC CL, followed by three nights on the dark side. :) I actually am in shock. I cannot wait to go back! My BFF and her family are coming at the same time, bringing another family with her, and we are going to work on our travel buddies to come with their kids as well. I need to take another look at my signature - I haven't been on here much since my last trip in August 2013 (when I got a concussion and a huge black eye, and was recognized in the lounge and hot tub by fellow Disboarders as a result!) I'm happy to see my picture of the cot in the room from 2012 is still in the FAQ as well. LOL.

I will have many questions, I'm sure, and will be following along until August!

Just hopped over to your TR, because I was so curious about what happened on your last trip. HOLY MOLY!!! You poor thing, but at the same time you were very fortunate. Here's hoping for an injury-free trip!

Hey Everyone :wave2:

Just book a last minute trip to the BC, every year we stay at the Grand in July, but couldn't resist the cheap flights. We always wanted to try an EPCOT hotel and January 23rd we arrive.

I've been checking on the thread and I am getting so excited, just figured I would ask if there is anything I should know and if there is seating near or by the Beach Club Marketplace? We visit the Yacht Club every year to eat at Yachtsman but that's all I am familiar with.

Also, if anyone has an input in what I should pack for a trip in January I would appreciate that too, we have never been to WDW another time but May and July.

Thanks for the help!!:goodvibes

We are heading to the Beach club for our first stay there in march and I can't wait!!! we booked standard room as we got a good deal through an agency...what are the usual room requests...I have been told to just put large balcony but looking for some help!!! any special things we MUST do while there as well!!! I can't wait!!

Probably not much more you can do with a room request for a standard view. Mine always get ignored anyway. Heh.

I just wish you were a little more excited about your trip. ;)

We just enjoyed a similar booking. I requested patio and large balcony (hoping for 1.) we got the large balcony. Looking at the standard view rooms, I think patios are almost non-existent in the BC standard view category. If I could have a do over, I would have requested large patio, close to elevators. There aren't stairs or multiple banks of elevators, and we had an and less walk. Still worth it, though!

We took advantage of those cheap flights last January. ;) It is a good time to get away.

There are some high tables in the hall by the entrance to the Marketplace. There are more tables right outside the door to the Beach Club villas, and there are tables in the Solarium. :)

It can be cold in January, especially in the evening, so you will want to bring some warm clothes. It was 36 degrees for the marathon on Sunday morning. :)

I would go ahead and request the large balcony. Most of the standard view rooms are on the third and fourth floor above a large, flat roof. They will either face the lake side of the resort or the parking lake side. I would request the lake side for a better view. :) We had one of those rooms last October, room 3707 and liked the location.
