Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

The official word from DVD is that BCV studios can be booked for 5. There's a lot of old code and multiple legacy systems cobbled together with offshore-developed web code, so there's bound to be some discrepancy with that amount of chaos. There are probably at least half a dozen places where a simple edit like that has to be done, each managed by a different department. Nevertheless, regardless of what the site says, the back-end field in booking engine software allows for up to 5 guests in a studio. Even the booking engine says "4" but will offer the studio and complete a booking with 5 guests.

Here's an example, searching September 3-10 for a BCV studio with 5 adults:

The "offer" screen, showing what's available for 5 adults...

If I click "Select This Resort" above, it presents the option and allows me to book it.

Isn't there a set of doors just beyond that end of the pool? I seem to recall there are entryways to the villas there (center), at the end of the building nearest BC as well as one closest to the parking lot. That central doorway would allow entrance to the building for those housed in the center section while the others at the BC end would have the "lobby" area where the concierge is located to enter and those at the far end near the parking lot yet another entrance. It would be the BC end (which it appears your villa is located) that would be most cut off from the parking lot since you would have to pass through the pool area OR walk the hallways through the building. Then again, I could be wrong about the center section doorway. :guilty:

Yes, there is another door just past the pool, and yes, I'm in the BC end right now (208) and those Villas in that wing will not have great parking lot access.

They are definitely putting in gates. The walkways at both ends of the pool now sport ugly concrete posts in exactly the right spot to mount gates when the fences are complete. Ah, well. Next trip we likely won't have a car, so easy access to the parking lot won't be an issue. :-)

Hi everyone. I'm Jenny. Me , my daughter, and twin grad-daughters will be staying at Yacht Club in April for 7 nights. The girls are so excited. We are coming down to celebrate my 44th birthday. Read about the work starting at Yacht Club this month. Wondering what the new design of the rooms are going to be??? Love the Yacht Club Resort we stay here every year when we come to Disney World.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1 of this thread.

I'm not sure how far along the work will be in April. rteetz posted pictures of a demo room on Page 742, Post 3 that someone stayed in. Not sure if all of the features of this room will be part of the refurbished. There has been a lot of retooling of materials and features in the planning of the YC design along the way.

:goodvibes

Ok, let's start the new year off with some awesome news.....

(Clearly I believe in cutting to the chase.)

On 12/30, my DBF, (some of you know him as Tom, some know him as JNPants here on the board-he will hereafter be referred to as "DF"), asked me to marry him after 10 years of dating. He presented me with a beautiful watch to mark the occasion, and the next day we picked out matching rings.
Everyone is asking us if we'll having a Disney wedding, and the short answer is, no, but since we live in New England, and will hopefully get married near the water, I'm hoping the SAB Precision Swim/Dive team can put on a show that involves spelling out our names, and a rough image of the front porte cochere, so we can feel like we're at BC. NinjaMom, can you get on this? I'm leaving this up to you.
:beach:

Aw what a lovely way to start the New Year :)
Wishing you both many years of good health and happiness together

Hi all! Just checked into BC and was assigned room #3701. It's standard view overlooking SB and the Boardwalk. Not bad! Will add on some pictures ASAP.

I don't know that room specifically but it sounds like you have been upgraded to a water view room. Standard view is generally a roof top or a parking lot view, not SAB & the Boardwalk.

Actually 3701 is a Standard View room. You look directly out at the room at the roof and the adjoining wing of the BC. However, you can also see parts of SAB and even the Swan in the Distance.

Thanks. There have been a few instances lately where posters report what are not straight on views ( rooftops) but rather a better side view. I fear they are misleading to those unfamiliar who are reading.

There are some Garden view rooms that look over the Vollyball court at BC, but they actually have a water view of the lake if you turn your head to the left 15 degrees!! It can be very misleading sometimes

Its been a few months since our BCV trip, and wanted to get a recent update on the hot tubs at SAB? So the two that are sitting up on the rocks, together, one of them was pretty much cold the whole time. It was the over 18 one. Is that fixed now, is the temperature back to where it should be?

Both seemed fine back in Late Nov early Dec :)

Here now and they are both operational.

The trouble with that, is they were both operational in October. However, one (the over 18 one) was literally cold. Thats what I was wondering, is that one back to being an actual "hot" tub?

What are the hours for SAB currently?

:fish:
It was open until 8:00 on Friday. I did not have a chance to check last night but suffice to say there were probably not a lot of takers with the temps dipping in to the 40s around 7:00. Starting off cold this morning at 35 degrees with a real feel of 27 and only in the 50s later today. On another note, there is no evidence of construction in the existing restrooms by SAB to add showers as was rumored last year.
