Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

What I don't understand is why the booking window was only extended by less that two weeks :headache: It had been April 24th and now it is only to May 5th :rolleyes1 Why so short :furious:

There is speculation that bookings were only extended thru May 8, due to Southwest's new reservation system, now scheduled for activation in May 2017.

:wave:Dee, we arrived the day after you left and we took ME from the airport too.

Well, we got on the bus and were in the second row of seats. The bus driver came on and told everyone we would be stopping at CB, BW and BC. No mention of YC. Off we go. We stop at CB, and BW and on our way into the BC, I asked him if we stop at YC too since I had thought/remembered that it was usually a stop on this route. He told me YC was a different resort and he had been working here and doing this run for over a year and YC has never been one of his stops :confused3 I assumed they had changed the route.

I just :rotfl:when I read your post about your stops and remembered our bus driving telling us he has never stopped at YC in over a year! Hopefully, no one going to the YC gets on his bus :rotfl2:

Linda

What is the order of stops? I missed Dee's post

When we took DME last weekend we stopped at Caribbean Beach, Boardwalk, Beach Club and Yacht Club.
There are no set routes, they are based on need. But I have had this routing several times now.

Are there any can't miss activities anyone would recommend while staying at the Yacht Club?

Just had to share my new carry-on and luggage tag :goodvibes

Only y'all will understand the panic I felt this evening as DH was talking about our trip..."You know, we've never really gotten to spend a lot of time at the water parks - maybe we should go twice." :faint:

So, I calmly explained that we would be there for an ENTIRE day (in years past we only went 1/2 day) and that if he really wanted to do that, I'd need to add it to our tickets now. (We have convention tix thru our TA that we can't really upgrade once we get there.) I refrained from passionately telling him that I have carefully crafted every day of our trip and that he was about to throw all my hard work into disarray!

This, of course, after I've asked him on more than one occasion if there was any thing he'd really like to do or any special requests...:lmao:Bless his heart! :love2:

Fortunately, I think I talked him out of it...without having to bring out my crazy Disney Planner side.

View attachment 204108 Wishing Dee a very Happy and Magical Birthday! Thanks for all you do. Hope we are able to meet next time.

And to keep it pertinant to the thread, for those wondering about closet space, here's a picture of our luggage in the closet at BC. (They were on sale and I couldn't resist!) I forgot to post it during our stay.

Again Happy Birthday!
Good photo, we managed to get 4 large cases in the bottom of the closest space. Very good in these refrub rooms!

Just back from a wonderful 1 bedroom BCV stay.
We had perfect weather all week. It was mid 70's last weekend up to mid 80's as the week went on. Sunny to partly cloudy with a breeze every day. Not a drop of rain.
To my surprise I liked the BCV renovation. Based on the pictures I though I would miss the old decor, but I did not. We were on Villa 172 overlooking the canal. Everything was in perfect condition. I did notice a dent in the refrigerator door, and I wondered how is that possible so soon?
We had a Garden Grocer delivery and I was very pleased. You have an option when ordering to order ripe bananas or green bananas, so I always order a few of each, so they are perfect as the week goes on. Our order was perfect.
Every CM we interacted with were so nice, not a complaint about one. I was especially pleased with the helpful Transportation CM's. I use a scooter at Disney and they always were willing to help with a smile.
My favorite meal of the trip was at San Angel Inn. I had the Pollo a Las Rojas and it was just delicious. Our biggest disappointment was at Raglan Road.
Food and Wine was great, as always. We avoided the weekend this year, except for yesterday after checkout. It was mobbed then and we didn't stay too long. During the week our longest wait at a booth as about 7 mins. There were crowds, but the booth lines moved quickly.
AS DVC owners who try to go to Food & Wine every year, I will be booking next years trip in just a few weeks. I love always having a trip to look forward to.

Thank you for your review.

:thumbsup2

Very excited for our 4th BC stay - June 30-July 6, 2017! We have gone back and forth between BC and Poly and have decided BC is our favorite. I stayed at POFQ for a quick trip recently and it wasn't BC and didn't feel right!

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Glad to hear BC is your favorite. You have great taste!

::yes::

My dh is retiring in 3 months and we will be moving to Nebraska couple of weeks after. (Who does things like that in the middle of winter??? I guess us. :D) Busy days for sure. We are planning a trip in Oct 2017, but will be at BWI. I will be reading here in the meantime. It's such a friendly thread with awesome information-great combo! One of these years I'm sure we'll book at YC again. I can't stay away from SAB too long.:beach:

Congrats on your DH's upcoming retirement and best of luck with your move.

So happy to hear you plan on continuing to hang out with us.

:cool2:

Just booked the Beach Club from 12/19- 12/23. Haven't stayed there since 2012 so I'm wondering whats different since my last stay and what will be special for the Holidays?

Thanks-

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:cool1:

A few new things, off of the top of my head:

Beautiful renovated rooms!

Mickey Waffles available at the Marketplace and Ale & Compass Lounge in the morning

I can't remember exactly when they stopped charging for floats in the lazy river at SAB, but they are free now.

Our favorite greeter, Teena, moved to Las Vegas so her friendly smiling face is no longer in the lobby.

No clocks in Disney resort rooms. WTH?!?

The chocolate carousel at the BC, train set at the YC and other impressive Christmas decorations should be there during your trip. I haven't been during the holidays, so I am not really familiar with the special activities. If you go to Post 4 (Activities) of this thread, and click on the link for the historical calendars, look at the December activities listing for an example of what has been done in past years.

:santa:

Heading back to the BC CL January 8th-16th. Looking forward to getting away.

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the BOG list.

:woohoo:

:welcome: to the thread!

:goodvibes

When is your trip?

Here's a few suggestions:

Be sure to check out Post 4- Activities of this thread to give you some ideas of things to do at the resort.

Spend some time at Stormalong Bay, the 3 acre feature pool and waterslide.

Have a poolside drink if you are so inclined- members of this thread are fans of the Sunken Treasure (read all about it in Post 16)

If you are at the resort in the evening, you can see the high fireworks from EPCOT and HS from various places- the pool, the beach, the dock, the bridge between BC/BWI

3 weeks today! Question to those in the know. How are the BC management with guest decorating their balconies with fairy lights?

I've seen it done often at CR. Just wanted to gauge the feeling with you guys first
