Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Thank you for your quick response dansdad. The first half of my trip the BC is sold out completely, no rooms what so ever. The second half has non discounted rooms available (discount not released yet). I have no problem doing a split stay, do you know whether I will be allowed to drop the days off my second half? I don't want to loose my days on the first half even if it's rack rate.

If BC is sold out completely for the first half of your trip, those dates will still be sold out after they release the next round of discounts.

If you end up doing two separate reservations make sure Disney links them as a continuing reservation. The chances of you having to change rooms should be slim but having them linked will increase your chances to stay in the same room. I'd also try and stick with the same category for both reservations..that will increase your chances of remaining in the same room as well!
Good advice, will do, thank you.
Have you had experience in dropping days off the first reservation?

This is why I'm afraid of loosing the first half of my stay if I try and drop off days. I am willing to keep those days at rack rate. Will they let me keep my reservation but drop 4 days, then rebook the dropped days with the discount making it a split stay?

I'm confused. I thought there were no BC rooms available for the beginning of your trip. Are you going to do a split stay between YC (first half) and then BC (second half)?

To answer your question though, WDW has stopped allowing guests to automatically drop days off of a reservation. In order to do that, there would have to be availability at your resort for the new amount of days as if you were booking a completely new reservation.

I think I'm confused. Where are you currently booked for the 1st half of your trip?

oh boy, looks like I won't be able to stay here if I want the discount or just stay with rack rate.
Thank you so much for all your help. :santa:

Yes. I would have them book the new nights and then go back and modify your other reservation to drop nights. That way you won't risk losing the new nights. It shouldn't be a problem to modify your dates.

Long overdue post about our May 30-June 6 Disney trip...

We stayed 4 nights at BC before moving on to 2 nights at POR. It was HOT. And HOT. And HOT. We spent a couple hours at a park each day before calling it quits and heading back to Stormalong Bay. Oh, the pool! Loved the pool! Of course we've stayed there before, but one can only fully appreciate the pool when it feels like a sanctuary against the heat. My DH loved the gym. We were there apparently at the same time as The Rock, so we had this dream that he would be his spotting buddy with the weights, but no such luck.

We've decided that it was way too hot in June to truly enjoy ourselves. We need a do-over. Our next goal is to return October 2017. No more summer in Disney!

Also, we rented one of the little boats on the lake and were pleasantly surprised that they gave us a AAA discount! Saved 20%. First time we used our discount actually. 40 minutes was plenty of time for DH and DS, they charge by the minute after a base rate for 30 minutes.

And DS stayed at the Sandcastle Club so we could have a date night at Narcoosee's. He LOVED it. Captain Hook showed up and everything. He is requesting it again for our next trip.

My family and I arrive for our Disney World / Beach Club vacation on August 14th! I just saw that both the Yacht and Beach Club bus stops have been moved to the Convention Center for the time being. Does anyone know how long this is going to be in effect? I know last year we had the same thing happen during our Yacht Club stay. It wasn't too much of an inconvenience but it would be nice to have the regular bus stops in operation this trip. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your time!

It used to work that way, but not any longer. For example, if you have a 7 night stay booked and want to change it to a 5 night stay there will have to be a room available for those 5 nights excluding the room already booked for 7 nights.

We will be there in 18 days and I have 2 16 year old boys and 2 13 year old girls. Wondering if they will want to hang with us......
We were surprised that our teens wanted to hang with us for most of the time. Sometimes they wanted to stay later at the parks then we did, so that would be the only time they would split from us. But otherwise they went with us, even for rope drop. It was Disney, after all. :)

Its funny - I have never even thought about taking a bus between them - just assumed there was one! I have to go read about the walk in between BC & HS. I am not a morning person so a longish walk is unappealing. :coffee:
To put it in perspective - The walk from the BC through the International Gateway to the monorail is just about the same distance as the walk from the BC to DHS. It just feels longer to walk to DHS because there is less to look at. So when you think about it, the walk isn't that bad at all. And you almost always beat the boat. :)

Of course we've stayed there before, but one can only fully appreciate the pool when it feels like a sanctuary against the heat
Hi Car!
We would always stay at the BC in January, so there weren't too many good days for swimming. It wasn't until our Sept 2014 trip that we finally enjoyed the benefits of Storm Along Bay. :)

Just curious, I read a post about BC/YC busses now share with BWI to MK & AKL. I remember back a few years all the Epcot resorts shared, but then they went to just YC/BC sharing which was great. Only DTD bus was shared with all resorts.
Have services been cut, and gone back to all sharing? :( This was at park opening (not mid day off hrs) she said she had to wait for 3 MK busses.
