Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Still no BC/YC openings for my CP trip, and I changed my one night SAB stay to BWI (so no split stay). But I am still hanging with my homies here. Two weeks until my trip!!! Any one who wants any pics, etc. or other info let me know!!! I'll be right across Crescent lake!
Queen of RCers! I can't keep up with the chchchanges! Did you change dates as well as resorts? Are you still going to Universal? Our trips are coming up soon! Janet will be at Poly in Aug for a few days!

Can someone clarify something for me. If we want to go from the BC to one of the water parks in the morning around 11am, can we get a bus directly to the parks or do you have to go to Disney springs and change buses?

From the Transportation information (Post #1) on Page 1- this is the most recent info I have about bus transportation to the water parks.

New bus routes are being introduced for the Walt Disney World water parks, May 29, 2016.

Guests will need to take a bus to Disney Springs to get to Typhoon Lagoon from a resort. After 1:00pm, guests will need to transfer to a different bus at Disney Springs. Before 1:00, they will remain on the same bus.

For guests traveling to Blizzard Beach, they will need to take a bus to Animal Kingdom and then transfer to a new bus there.

Scott meant that I meant that the Beach Club gets all the love (just like MARSHA Brady!) while the Yacht Club is more like Jan Brady (Understated and prone to wearing white knee socks with plaid jumpers).

Am I right???

Wasn't there an episode where Jan made up a fake boyfriend? I am picturing Skipper Salty...

OK, thank you. Wow, that looks like it can be very time consuming.

Good morning folks, I have a question I'm hoping someone has had some experience with. I have a trip booked at the BC and hoping for the next group of discounts to be released soon. Seems the first half of my trip is sold out at the resort with the second half still available for booking. If the second half of my trip is available for the discount will Disney modify the days available or will I have to drop those days and make another reservation now having a split stay? Hope this isn't confusing. The wonderful people on this thread are so knowledgeable on everything Disney.

:santa::santa::santa:

:welcome: to the thread.

Lots of input and suggestions about your dilemma were offered by our ever-helpful friends here.

Please let us know how the plans work out for your trip.

Thank you for all the information in those posts! I especially love you've included how to create a ticker using the updated forums. I'd do that if I wasn't so lazy AND I wasn't leaving in 2 days!! Again, thank you for the time you put in updating all this!! :thanks:

I didn't not realize how many food options are here and 7 take Tables in Wonderland  Ale and Compass opening at 6 am is perfect for one of us to wander down for morning coffee! You'd think planning last minute trips would make the time go faster but I think the next 2 days will be like :snail:

I have one question though: Looking at the activities on the July sheet, it looks like there is something going on at the pool from 1 pm until 7 pm? Is that right or am I just lumping a lot of stuff together. That seems like a LONG time! Thanks for any clarification on this. We plan on spending as much of the day at the pool as possible....unless someone is shouting through a megaphone!!

Back to packing (which includes constantly removing Kitty from the bags who thinks he should be going too!) Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

Liz

Thanks for the kind words!!!

The pool activities take place in one part of SAB, which is YUUUUGGGGEEE! I don't think you can hear what is going on from the other parts of the pool or the lazy river. So there should be plenty of places for some relatively peaceful relaxation.

LOL about :cat: They really do love suitcases, don't they?

Have a fantastic trip!

am picturing you deploying Perry the platypus for a secret BC mission to the bus stop.

Long overdue post about our May 30-June 6 Disney trip...

We stayed 4 nights at BC before moving on to 2 nights at POR. It was HOT. And HOT. And HOT. We spent a couple hours at a park each day before calling it quits and heading back to Stormalong Bay. Oh, the pool! Loved the pool! Of course we've stayed there before, but one can only fully appreciate the pool when it feels like a sanctuary against the heat. My DH loved the gym. We were there apparently at the same time as The Rock, so we had this dream that he would be his spotting buddy with the weights, but no such luck.

We've decided that it was way too hot in June to truly enjoy ourselves. We need a do-over. Our next goal is to return October 2017. No more summer in Disney!

Also, we rented one of the little boats on the lake and were pleasantly surprised that they gave us a AAA discount! Saved 20%. First time we used our discount actually. 40 minutes was plenty of time for DH and DS, they charge by the minute after a base rate for 30 minutes.

And DS stayed at the Sandcastle Club so we could have a date night at Narcoosee's. He LOVED it. Captain Hook showed up and everything. He is requesting it again for our next trip.

~Cari~

Thank you for the review!

Adorable note!

I'll add your tip about the AAA discount to the Amenities Post on Page 1. Thanks for sharing that info!

In August 2008, my husband uttered the famous words "We are never going to Disney in the summer again!"
July 2009 Disney, July 2010 Disney, July 2011 Universal/MK, June 2012 Class Trip to Disney, June 2013, Universal/Disney.... :rotfl2:

:goodvibes

My family and I arrive for our Disney World / Beach Club vacation on August 14th! I just saw that both the Yacht and Beach Club bus stops have been moved to the Convention Center for the time being. Does anyone know how long this is going to be in effect? I know last year we had the same thing happen during our Yacht Club stay. It wasn't too much of an inconvenience but it would be nice to have the regular bus stops in operation this trip. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your time!

We believe the Bus Stop work (at the Yacht Club only) is expected for 3 weeks, with a temporary location of the bus stop at the Convention Center, should be done in early August.

::yes::

Our waitlist came through for our last night! @natebenma could you please change our stay to Jan 1-6 at BCV on the BoG list? Thanks! So stoked not to have to switch resorts:woohoo:

Will do!

:woohoo:

So excited!! I had to move our dates around bit for September and was able to get a fab rate on the YC CL SV, for Sept 20-26! I wasn't thrilled about the pool at the BWI for my toddler, he adores SAB!! Bring on the vacay :)

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

Shared buses:

Just curious, I read a post about BC/YC busses now share with BWI to MK & AKL. I remember back a few years all the Epcot resorts shared, but then they went to just YC/BC sharing which was great. Only DTD bus was shared with all resorts.
Have services been cut, and gone back to all sharing? :( This was at park opening (not mid day off hrs) she said she had to wait for 3 MK busses.

Where was the thread, Sue? Which forum?

Stayed at BWI on the 2nd of July and we took the bus to MK. It didn't stop anywhere. The CM helping with the bus times said they rarely share with SD and didn't even mention YCBC

Thanks!

We had one bus to the MK which also stopped at BWI during our stay mid-June. The other MK busses earlier in the week were YC/BC only. Those had folks standing leaving BC, not sure that's why they didn't go to BWI?

Time of day?

When we were at the BC in February we had one MK bus that stopped at BWI, where no one got on because there was an MK bus there already.

Time of day?

Trying to get a handle on how often and when the shared buses are used. I'll probably add a note that although typically buses run directly to MK and AK from YC/BC that guests may occasionally experience a bus that shares with BWI.

Cab fare or Uber would be money well spent!

We actually combine a half-day at AK with an afternoon at a waterpark for easy transportation and to cool down because the tropical theming at AK is WAY too authentic!

:scared:

The MK bus that stopped at BWI was probably around rope drop time. The bus seemed to be an extra bus that picked up the overflow crowd since it followed a few minutes behind another MK bus.

A few date changes here and there ;) At one point I was Sugarloaf, then Poly, then DH and I went to BWI....we are officially EPCOT resort peeps now

We are doing BWI CL then HRH CL in a King Suite with connecting Club 2 Queen then Sanibel 7/27-8/15

Can't get rid of me that easily  NADA available at BC/YC/BWI 11/30-12/2 but I have hope!
Kook might have some extra erasers, but if not I'll get an economy box!

My original Twitter and Instagram handle used to be MKRstFan after years of dreaming of staying at the GF, and then finally doing so.

6 hours into our first stay at BWI (our first stay anywhere on the Epcot Loop), I officially changed both handles to EpcotRstFan.

That was 2011. It hasn't changed since.

That said, our new favorite thing to do, and if the moneys allow, is to start the trip at a MK resort for 2-ish nights, eat at CG or Narcoossee's, and as we say, "spank" the MK, meaning get our fill over and over. Then we move for a long stay to an Epcot Rst and leisurely spend days and days at Epcot with side trips to HS and AK here and there. :cloud9:

And...while I'm here. I just want to say again, Dee, thanks for running such a tight and "POSITIVE" ship on this thread. I'm really getting sick of the negativity on these boards (and in the world in general), and this board is such a nice respite. It's like a cold Sunken Treasure on a hot day! :boat:

I think my head hurts, lol!
We go back & forth between staying in MK and Epcot area. This will be 3rd year in a row for Gf or Poly. In 2013 I did do a GF/YC split :-). Next stay may be back to YC.

Thank you! We will be there March 31-April 5! I wish it was for longer, but we are then headed to Universal for a few days as the kids love the thrill rides there and LOVE Harry Potter.
