Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Check out Post 5 on Page 1- Resort Amenities. There is a section about laundry in that post with the info you are looking for.

I read this on the first page
shortcut near BW pool area:
From the BW to HS: Walk past the surrey bike rental kiosk on your left and friendship boat loading docks on your right. Take your first left [just before the ScreenDoor store] past Wyland Galleries and then your first right which will bring you to the Luna (Clown pool). Veer to the left around the Clown pool and you'll run right in to the walkway to HS. On the way back from HS, you'll see the Clown pool rollercoaster waterslide and there will be an entrance to the pool area on the backside of the slide.

I wanted to know when we leave BC do we head toward the Epcot entrance to take this route ?

Yes, turn left out of Beach Club towards Epcot, then turn right across the bridge to the Boardwalk. It is closer than going by YC.

Checked in Friday. Just wanted to mention current Stormalong hours. Pool now closes at 10pm and they were firm with that. Our last summer visit was at least 11. If this has already been mentioned sorry for the duplication.

I hope it's not another staff cut to save money and only temporary.

I am in full planning mode and back to the boards after my little hiatus. FP+ booked today for August. We don't arrive at BC until August 17, however, we check in to GF August 13, so, FP's booked!

Looking forward to getting back to BC CL August 17!!!

Rebecca- have a wonderful trip!

We were scheduled for a universal trip- BUT the Disney cult pulled us back in! Just switched the other day. We are staying at CBR this year. (Just had DS's wedding so no BC for us this year). Our trips will overlap. We are there August 8-17. All these extra upsells had me turned off Disney but when we all were talking about missing it for the first time since 2003 we just couldn't do it!

::yes::page 527-530

just wondering about captain's grille.... i just watched a disunplugged review of worst 5 restaurants and it topped the list. i realize all that is so subjective (one of our favourite meals on our last visit was hollywood and vine!) but it was just posted 4 days ago.

i saw one post above that refer to it as "less than stellar". it made me wonder what other recent guests' experiences have been like.

I have been to Captain's Grille for breakfast (1), lunch (1) and dinner (3). I have reviews of some of these visits on Page 1, Post 7 (Dining). We like the food, service and convenience of the Captain's Grille. The theming is understated and it is rarely crowded. As mentioned above, there are discounts if you use your Disney Visa (breakfast and lunch only?)

:thumbsup2

Kpm76- I'm considering upgrading our upcoming YC stay to CL. Have never tried concierge before. How are the offerings during the day? Did you take any pictures of the food? Is it worth the upgrade costs?

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for July.

Thanks for this. I add the operating hours for SAB to Page 1, Post 2, when guests report them. Do you know the current opening time for SAB?

I am curious about whether the hours will be expanded this weekend with all of the "June 17" openings and start of the summer season.

:fish:

After much persistence, I FINALLY was able to secure a discounted studio room at BCV for our upcoming October stay. We'll now be splitting our time between CSR business class and BCV, yay! Dee.... can you add us to the BOG list, please? We'll be at BCV 10/17-10/19. Thx!!

:banana::banana::banana:

See you around SAB!

:welcome: to the thread and thanks for the helpful info.

:wave2:

Just got back last night from our WDW trip. We stayed at BCV for the first time.

.

Thank you so much for the fantastic review and awesome pictures!

::yes::

Greetings from the villas laundry room.

Regarding my mission about kids meals and discounts. I asked three separate cast members including one at the actual registers at Hurricane Hannah's whether or not I could get a discount t if I didn't want the sand pail with the kids meal and got the same answer from all three. Price is the same regardless...no discount.

Thank you for your continued updates.

I appreciate you reporting about the lounge takeout  and for asking about the kids meals. That is what I thought.

:magnify:

5 days until our first-ever Crescent Lake stay (at Beach Club). We are incredibly excited! :-)

Have a fantastic trip!

:yay:

Thank You! And yes please add us to Be Our Guest list! We are on our countdown until BCV!

When is your trip?

:cool2:

I am planning a trip to Disney for the second week in October, 2017.

:welcome: back!

I'll pencil you in on the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

Regarding the horrible tragedy that took place at the Grand Floridian - my heart breaks for a family that will never be the same. There are a number of threads here on the DIS to discuss what happened and to express sympathy and compassion. I am not going to encourage discussion or debate here, but here is my input about how this relates to the Yacht & Beach Club resort.

In any body of freshwater in Florida, assume that there are dangerous things. Gators, snakes and dangerous parasites.

Please heed warnings to stay out of the water. Swimming and even wading or playing in the water is not safe.

In most cases I recommend minding ones own business, but if you see people in waterways at Disney, I don't think it would be out of line to remind them that this is not a wise thing to be doing.

Gators have been spotted in the waterways near the Yacht & Beach resort. Pictures were posted last year of a gator that was in the BCV canal. I remember seeing reports of alligators spotted in Crescent Lake and in the water between the resort and Hollywood Studios. I have heard a story of a large alligator sunning in the parking lot.

Disney is an extremely safe place, but that doesn't mean you don't need to pay attention and be smart.

I want all of my friends to be safe!

ETA: Please do not feed wildlife at Disney, or elsewhere. Wild animals will lose their fear of humans if they associate them with food. Many of you have probably encountered aggressive birds at Disney who are looking for handouts because they are accustomed to being fed by guests.

I am horrified, after having stayed at VGF last month and having two of my kids spend tons of time near the water trying to catch frogs.

This past November my husband and I stayed in a canal view room at BCV and saw the alligator every morning. My husband threw bread to it from out balcony and let me just say it was alarmingly aggressive in it's efforts to beat the turtles to it. We watched as two cast members caught it on our last day, Luring it to the shore with marshmallows. It was probably six feet long. Keep your kids away from the lakes and canals. So sad for the family who lost their toddler. Unimaginable.

Sorry to say but your husband is part of the problem. Never feed an alligator or any wild animal for that matter.

Once an alligator has been fed by humans, there are two problems: they lose their natural fear of humans and they associate humans with food and will approach without fear. Both are extremely dangerous outcomes!

Hey everyone! I've tried searching but haven't had much luck. Does anyone have pictures of a renovated 2 bedroom villa? We are starting to plan for spring and I've never stayed at BC. Trying to decide between renting points for a villa, or just getting a regular room. If anyone has advice either way, it would be awesome! How long a walk is it to Epcot? Is there a place to get a quick breakfast? We have never stayed deluxe before, only values. Thanks!

By the way, my husband was wrong to feed the alligators. No doubt about it. It just didn't seem wrong after watching people all morning walking the bridge with bread or crackers to lure the alligator to the surface just to get a glimpse, or a picture. There are signs at Hurricane Hannas that say don't feed the birds. They don't work. My mother thinks she is doing them a favor by feeding them french fries.

Bottom line is, PLEASE don't feed the alligator or birds at Disney. It really is a bad idea.

I can't say I disagree. He was definitely wrong.

I hate to ask this because it feels insensitive, but with the news of the Beach closures, does anyone know the status of Storm Along Bay and the slide? In the pictures, those appear to be right on the edge of the lake.

We are arriving on Friday and if one of the major attraction we planned on using is going to be closed - I have to start considering option for my family. They've been looking forward to this for so long.

I can't say for sure that it will be open, but there is a paved walkway that leads to the slide, so I doubt they would close that area. You don't have to set foot on the beach to get to the slide.

The walk to Epcot is really short. Just a bridge connecting BC from the World Showcase entrance! You can get a quick breakfast in the gift shop... yes, the gift shop. This is one of the main complaints I have about this otherwise beautiful resort. They don't have a good quick/counter service area. It gets pretty crowded in the small area of the gift shop where the menu is also quite limited. But you will LOVE the Beach Club.

We order lots of breakfast stuff plus snacks and bottled water from GardenGrocer.com before we leave for vacation and have it delivered on our first day, so we can eat breakfast in the room while getting ready.

It appears that the entrance to the sandy beach is blocked by these ropes. I believe this is along the same walkway that leads to the slide. (originally posted on DVC News site).

Fully agree. Feeding any of the wildlife (including raccoons which can carry rabies) is not smart. It attracts them more toward humans.
