Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Hi guys! I have a few questions about Beach Club. We were originally planning AKL but now we may have an extra person in our room so are thinking perhaps BC. I'm just wondering about space really. We will be four adults and a 12 year old. Is the daybed plenty big enough of a 12 year old? Will space be super tight in general? We are using to 3 adults and a child in a value room, so we are used to little space, but wondered if BC would be worse with more of us.

We are only looking at the standard rooms, not DVC, as we want it to be eligible under the UK free dining offer.

Thanks for any help!
A regular resort room at the BC will be larger than a regular room at AKL. The daybed is large enough for an adult. Your 12 year old will have plenty of room. We have a family of five and were comfortable in a regular room at the Beach Club. :) It is a great place to stay.

Hi everyone! DH and I will be at BC 5/25-5/31... I've been looking at the touring plans room page and I can't find any rooms that have a standard view king size bed AND a full balcony. Does anyone know if this room type exists? As a god DISer, I do't want to request a room type that doesn't exist! haha!

Thank you!

I don't know if there is a room with that description, but from what I understand the touring plan room descriptions are not always accurate. Which of those two features is more important to you? You should go ahead and put in your request- "Full balcony, please. King bed if possible" There are far fewer king bed rooms at the resort so if that is your preference, emphasize that: "King bed please. Full balcony if possible"

Just returned from YC last night. It was a wonderful 5 days! We were with 3 other families and none of us received a new room. It looks like work is starting on the third floor. Construction was never a problem. If you are enjoying some peace at the quiet pool, be prepared for a little noise. I was able to take a nap through the hammering and construction noise. F & F has moved to the lobby and they do have a few Lilly dresses but it is a very scaled back version of the store.

Even though we were a little disappointed with an older room, the room was very clean and well kept. Two of the families filled out room request forms with touring plans...two threw caution to the wind. Caution to the wind won out...they had much better rooms!

Happy planning to all! Sad to be home but filled with many happy memories!!

Next time you are updating the BoG list, please add us for Oct 9-13 BC. My sister made reservations for Food and Wine, so it looks like she, Pop, and I are going to enjoy our home down the road from home. The good thing is being able to drink and not have to worry about getting home (as the only driver in the family). Love the relaxed atmosphere of BC and going back for a nap when I get tired.

Will do!

Sounds wonderful.

:woohoo:

Hello. We are staying at the Beach Club this summer 7/27-8/3 and I am starting to get nervous, because the resort seems to be sold out completely all weeks around that time. We planned less park days this year because we want to spend more time relaxing at the resort but will it feel overly crowded? Has anyone been there when the resort is completely booked? If it is going to feel really busy and crowded we might go to a value or moderate and just add more park days, but I was really looking forward to having more downtime and exploring the Epcot resort area:sad:. We've never stayed at a value and the trip was to celebrate mine and my daughter's birthday so we wanted it to be special. Anyone have any helpful advice? TIA :goodvibes

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

I'm glad frequent guests and resort lovers were able to ease your mind about the feel of the resort when it is full.

As far as advice, I would suggest that you check out the first page of this thread, particularly Post 13 FAQ and Post 14 Other Useful Info. There are a ton of pictures and lots of info and may give you some ideas about room requests and activities at the resort.

:cool1:

There are spots all around but I usually will sit by the sand area pool closest to YC ( where Wood Nymph mentioned) We have a 10 and 8 year old who love it there (and I love it even more!) There are also some good spots where the slide drops you off. We're usually there in the late afternoon when it gets busiest and I've always found a spot somewhere..

To the right you'll find lots of trees for shade and the area between the YC and BC will have trees and umbrellas too.

Thank you! Great picture of this area of Stormalong Bay- really shows off the sand bar area and the shade options.

I contacted DSS and this is what they told me re: the refrigerators:

Thank you for your email and I'm sorry for the delay in responding.
After confirming with one of my partners from our resort, there are mini
refrigerators in the refurbished rooms. While they may not have a
visible thermometer, they are able to maintain the proper temperature
for milk and other such items.

Thanks so much for asking about this and posting the reply!

:cold:

Currently booked at POR but wanting to switch to BC in July. My only question is about the visibility/noise of the YC construction from the BC? I don't want to pay deluxe prices to see constant construction! TIA for any insight anyone can offer!

:welcome: to the thread!

As others indicated, there shouldn't be any noticeable impact at the BC due to the YC room refurbishment work. There will be some work going on in the YC lobby- Ale & Compass, Fittings & Fairings and Captain's Grille are all undergoing some sort of work between now and the fall, but again, that should not be of concern for BC guests.

Let us know if you make the switch.

As others have posted, the daybed should be plenty comfortable and large enough for a 12 year old. I stayed with 4 friends in a Beach Club room and the tallest one in the group took slept in the daybed. She said it was fine.

Let us know if you make the switch!

The YC's Fittings & Fairings will temporarily close for business starting on 04/17/2017, due to construction. A scaled-down selection of items sold in the shop will be available for sale in a temporary location off the YC lobby, near Ale & Compass.

Thanks for the info!

Does anyone know if they sell Lilly Pulitzer dresses in any of the gift shops? I saw some on our last trip at the Grand Floridian and was hoping maybe BC/YC carries a few also :) just in case I don't manage to get to Disney Springs.

:welcome: to the thread!

Do you have an upcoming stay?

Sorry, no idea about the dresses, although the review on this page says there were a few.

::yes::

Thank you for the review and helpful tidbits of info, particularly about the impact of the YC work. Glad you had a nice trip.

Thanks for posting your experience with making requests. I always hope that less requests will give me the better room. :)

Captain's Grille are all undergoing some sort of work between now and the fall, but again, that should not be of concern for BC guests.

Al, the greeter at the Yacht Club, told us that they were not going to close Captain's Grille until the new counter service area in Fittings and Faring was completed. We chatted with him last month and told him that we would be back in May. :)

Since my original post, a recent guest posted that the temporary move to the YC lobby already took place a few days ago.

Hi All,

Just a quick note to say hello and I'm back on the forum. After we returned from our November trip, I didn't have the heart to sign on. Then, after a few weeks of not doing so, I realized exactly how many hours I was burning every day on this and similar sites. Good thing I'm the boss, but not so good for keeping business shipshape. It happens every year. I'm a geek when it comes to this stuff. I just can't help myself.

I believe they sell Lilly at Yacht Club gift shop

I just made my life easier. Instead of a split stay with 2 nights at the beach club and 5 at the yacht club I switched to beach club only with a lagoon/pool view.

I want a lagoon view! I don't care as much about the full balcony, but it would be lame if my water view was of the quiet pool. How do I request a lagoon view?

If you made your reservations directly through Disney, either online or by phone, call Disney reservations and ask them to place your preferences in your room requests. If the reservation was made through a TA or 3rd party travel site, such as Orbitz, you will need to contact them to place the request for you - about 7 days prior to arrival.
