Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

The fridges in the rooms are more than just coolers. Heck, I've frozen a bunch of water bottles in the fridges over the years.

I think they're referring to the new pictures coming out of the YC refurbished rooms. The new "fridges" look more like wine coolers than actual fridges, and don't have space in the door for items

We're staying at the YC this August. We really use the refrigerator for leftovers and my children always have milk before bed. I really hope they are just not "coolers". They are usually just "cool" and not "cold" and would not really keep milk fresh. I wonder if I could request a refrigerator?

From the little research I've done on these, a lot can be adjusted to normal refrigerator temps and sections can get to 32 degrees when on the lowest setting. The shelves are definitely adjustable so a half gallon will fit on it's side.
As an aside, what am I doing to change my font size in the middle of typing?

These remind me of a Summit model, which is expensive in retail so I can't imagine that's the brand. If anyone staying there can get the brand/model, we'll be able to get the specs and know what to expect when there. I don't think we'll have a problem storing left-overs or temp sensitive items, though.

Hello. We are staying at the Beach Club this summer 7/27-8/3 and I am starting to get nervous, because the resort seems to be sold out completely all weeks around that time. We planned less park days this year because we want to spend more time relaxing at the resort but will it feel overly crowded? Has anyone been there when the resort is completely booked? If it is going to feel really busy and crowded we might go to a value or moderate and just add more park days, but I was really looking forward to having more downtime and exploring the Epcot resort area:sad:. We've never stayed at a value and the trip was to celebrate mine and my daughter's birthday so we wanted it to be special. Anyone have any helpful advice? TIA :goodvibes

The BC resort is completely booked almost every week of the year. :) It is a very popular resort. Your week is no different than just about every week of the year. We have been there in January and it is still sold out. We have stayed there at least twenty times over the years and the resort has never felt crowded. You sometimes get a morning rush at the Marketplace for breakfast. And once in awhile everyone decides to go to the main pool on the same afternoon, and you can encounter a large crowd of people waiting for their table at Cape May to open for their dinner ADR, but a capacity crowd is normal. :) The BC holds a lot less rooms than a value resort does, so you won't encounter as many people at the BC as you would at a value or moderate resort. :)

The BC is a wonderful resort. I hate to think that you will switch to a moderate or value over something that doesn't exist.

^^ I agree. It's almost always fully booked when we are there. The only time it was an issue was on a very busy Easter weekend and the pool was so crowded that we couldn't find a single place to put down our towels. Other than that day it's been fine.

We've only stayed in September but the hotel has ALWAYS been completely booked when we've gone (we've asked to see whether an upgrade was available and have been told the hotel is completely booked) We've never felt it was too crowded! If I hadn't asked, I would never have thought it was completely booked. We've always been able to get a good spot at the pool (in the shade for me!lol)-it's massive and amazing so you never feel that people are on top of you.
I hope you try it. It will truly make your birthdays special!

Thank you all so much, I knew this was the right place to come with my worries! I had no idea it was that popular of a resort, when my Disney obsession began I though everyone else was obsessed with the Polynesian like me (haha), but I do think it is worth it to stick with Beach Club if it wont feel overly crowded. I think going in July is just worrying me again but it will be fine as long as we are at Disney! Now to figure out room requests! Thanks again :goodvibes

Where is the best area at the pool for some shade?

The area closest to the Yacht Club seems to have the most available chairs in the shade. It is near the kiddie pool area, which is probably why there are a lot of available chairs. It is also the closest area to Hurricane Hanna's. If you enter near the YC then you will be right there. :)

Here now and it is completely sold out but I wouldn't know unless we didn't just book on a whim upgrade. The pools are pretty empty most of the day . Found some good sahed chairs all the way by the beach club entrance to the pool. Having a pool day tomorrow so can update again.

There are spots all around but I usually will sit by the sand area pool closest to YC ( where Wood Nymph mentioned) We have a 10 and 8 year old who love it there (and I love it even more!) There are also some good spots where the slide drops you off. We're usually there in the late afternoon when it gets busiest and I've always found a spot somewhere..

To the right you'll find lots of trees for shade and the area between the YC and BC will have trees and umbrellas too.

Unless someone has a bag/shoes/etc by a chair, I would move the towel. You can check with a lifeguard, too. That way if anyone takes issue you can direct them to someone in charge ;)

We found a spot and there is the rooming servers for drinks and food. I do wish they had tiny table. We've seen those at other non-disney resorts and it is the only thing missing at Stormalong Bay.
