Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

In my opinion, they have done a masterful job of creating two distinct resorts at YBC. When BC was refurbished, they came away with an elegant light and airy classic Nantucket style. YC new design has a richer more classic yacht club appeal. Darker woods, brass and navy. You see both of these intentions when you walk through the doors into the lobby of either side. The "disney" is more subtle in the rooms. I personally love the flooring for sanitary reasons...
I'm just not liking these no-carpet-trend rooms. The bare floors get dirty, too. And the sound is louder with these wood floors.

I think there is a lot of theming in the YC rooms, but I wish there was a beautiful area rug or something. Too sanitary (I know that sounds crazy).

I completely see your point. It is more "sterile" in its appearance. For me,
I have a lil bit of a no bare feet on hotel carpet issue, but I can see warming up the aesthetic with a nautical theme rug. Maybe a round nautical rose compass rug partially under the bed and jutting around the edges.

I've personally used this on our last two visits it is extremely accurate. I had the chance to pop along to the quick service locations and grab a coffee and a light snack and still keep an eye on my laundry loads progress. It was brilliant to work out how long was left on each cycle and how many drier machines I could possibly utilise. The payment system in each laundry room location is very easy to operate too.

ohMom - Great pics! Thank you for sharing.:yay: I really like the look of the new rooms. Glad to see they do have the daybed in the completed rooms. Do you remember if the space under the beds was open and tall enough to stash suitcases? That would be a plus to keep the room tidy :teeth:

We need to be updated as YC, and you've got our end date as June 10. What Disney doesn't understand is that we're moving in, and they will have to drag me out to the ME kicking and screaming. No one wants a scene like that. They're better off just letting us stay.

:cool1:

Will do! I'll add an indefinite end date to your listing.

Last morning at our favorite place! I'm not as sad as I normally am because we will be back in 92 days!! We have enjoyed our stay here so much!! Everyone has been super friendly and helpful. As for the seafood smell in the hallway, I haven't noticed it the past few days myself. I may have grown used to the smell but it never bothered me either. My mom, who didn't care for the smell said she didn't notice it either. I also don't think I mentioned that we called housekeeping for a box fan and they brought one right up on our arrival day. It really helps me sleep at night and was much appreciated.
There is a little sitting area right outside our room, we actually used it this morning to have our coffee while Little Miss slept, too chilly for me on the balcony. Here are some pics of room and view. Dee help yourself to them if you want! Can't wait to return.

Thank you so much for your pictures! Yes, I will add your shots to the Beach Club View thread.

Standard view, right?

:goodvibes

Yes we are booked at BC for 11/17-11/24 :D

Awesome!!!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

:cool1:

I am so excited! We just got the confirmation email from David's for our room at Beach Club Villas for January 29-February 9, 2018. I know it's incredibly far out, but we are so excited! We are going for our 10 year anniversary and thought have been wanting to stay at Beach Club for so long that we decided this would be the trip to do it! Cannot wait!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

SOOOO EXCITED! We have a split stay coming up 4/24-4/26 at the beach club standard view and then 4/26-5/01 at the yacht club garden view. How is that for an easy split stay? Aside from the contemporary/BLT, old key west, and Saratoga springs these are the only deluxe resorts we have never stayed at. The only rooms left happened to be accessible hearing rooms, but when I spoke with reservations I was assured that booking that room category is okay. My question is should I have them make a note that I don't absolutely need to be in a hearing accessible room? And what sort of room requests might you put in when traveling with a 3 year old? I noticed a divider in some room photos at the yacht club- is that something that is in every king room? I would love to have visual separation at night so our son will sleep more soundly.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the list.

What a cool split stay!

I do know that king bed rooms are limited at the resort, but you can certainly request that. I'm not sure how many of the rooms have those dividers.

:dogdance:

I agree with the poster above that the Yacht and Beach themes are still there, but more subtle. I like the new decor, but my kids are getting older. I'm sure when we go end of May we will probably have a non-refurb room. I think the move towards no bathtubs is reflective of design trends in general. You watch design shows and you see them more often getting rid of bathtubs for bigger showcase showers.

:welcome: to the thread!

Do you have an upcoming stay at the resort?

:cool2:

ok, I'm home!! there's several pages that I have missed...do you all still want to see my pics? specifically what areas? I don't want to bore you with duplicates

Thank you, once again, for the awesome detailed photos!!!! May I use them here on the thread and in the Yacht Club View thread?

:thumbsup2

We will be at the beach club June 9-12
We booked a standard room and are celebrating my daughters high school graduation. Can't wait to be at the Beach Club!!

Here's your official :welcome:

I'll add you to the list.

::yes::

Getting super excited about my YC stay. We stayed at BC a few years ago and loved it, but thought I would try YC this time. I have a question about the laundry facilities. I swear I remember seeing an app or website that you can go to that will tell you if there are any machines available to use at your resort. Does anybody know where I can find this info? I hate lugging my basket down to do a load of laundry only to find that there are no machines available. And are the machines strictly credit card or can I use my magic band to charge to the room? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Thanks for posting this helpful info.

@lionsmom Post 5 (Amenities) on Page 1 has more info and pictures of the laundry rooms and where they are located.

:laundy:

Sorry, as Im sure the answer to this question is somewhere in the 820 pages of this thread! I searched the first 3 !! Lots of fantastic information refreshing my memory of where things are located at the Yacht Club. Its been about 15 years since I was last there!

One thing I could not find, or maybe did but I didnt read it properly, is where, at the YC, can you fill the refillable mugs? I saw where you can purchase them, but not where to fill them. Is it all the same places as where you purchase? Is that is the case, is the only place to fill at A&C prior to noon? We like to fill before returning to the room for the night. Thanks!

They are currently working on the gift shop at YC to put in refill stations, but I don't think that will be ready for your trip.

So, yes, Ale & Compass in the morning (although the options there are more limited than what you will find at the Marketplace) or Hurricane Hanna's by the pool.

Yes, that sounds beautiful.

Ninja Mom checking in.

Next week Hubby and I are taking the boys to Universal Orlando. We are taking one of their mutual friends with us and we booked the suite that sleeps 6 at Cabana Bay. We recently found out that their other good friend and his family is going down on the same flight as us and staying at Sapphire Falls. That's across the street from Cabana Bay where we are staying.

So if you are at Universal and you see 6 boys, running at top speed, as far and as fast as they can away from a Mom, then that would be my group. NM is in top physical condition right now so I can keep up with them no problem. They may not realize that so it will be a surprise! Mwa ha, ha!

The last time I took them to a water park good ol' NM did way more water slides then they did. I was booking it up the stairs while they were floating in the lazy river, clucking like hens at each other... :sad2:. I have a feeling I am going to have trouble getting them out of the pool.

Since I know Dee will ask, we are planning on hitting CowFish, Margaritaville and Finnegans. We are considering Emeril's but the service and food have been getting poor reviews. Toothsome is charging entree prices for their desserts so if we go there it will probably only be for ice cream. I doubt that anyone will be able to eat an entree and one of those giant desserts in the same sitting so I'm thinking this would not be the place to take teens boys that over order food that they can't always finish, even with their appetites.

It is so odd to plan a trip to Orlando and not have it be at Disney. I might have to wear a magic band just to keep my equilibrium. This trip will definitely be the "happy wanderer" type of trip. Wish me luck with 5 guys in the hotel room. I'm bringing the economy size jug of Poo Pourri. Hopefully that will be enough to survive this trip.

~NM

Ninjamom I hope your visit to Finnegans is over St Paddy's day where you can drown your shamrock in true Irish style and dance a jig with the best of them! Have a great trip ☘

Can I ask for a Convention Center Construction update?
We have a standard view booked at BC in August and were wondering what the state of the convention center is. Would views from the front of BC or YC be pretty bad/loud due to this construction? Reports from BC and/or YC would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks! I usually just go with whatever is readily available, and don't make a fuss about it. I kind of consider a Celiac diagnosis as a gift... you know the kind that pretty much keeps you from eating all the good stuffo_O I always feel like a PITA, having the chef do special for me, but at Disney they are so very accommodating. And those gluten free cinnamon donuts at Tusker House are sooooo good! I guess i'll just ask if I'm feeling a sweet treat.
Oh yum! My little sister is gluten and dairy free and has been most of her life. Disneyland is the one place we have found where her dietary restrictions don't make much of a difference, in fact she feels special when the chef comes out to talk over something on the menu. Guess that's one of the reasons we've come to love Disney even more over the years, she has such a broad assortment of things she can eat that she just can't get at home. When I saw GF donut I thought it pretty much looked like the most amazing thing we could get her (next to chilling all day with Chip and Dale in the parks, but some things are not gonna happen ;) ). It was mentioned on the CL thread that someone got some GF donuts at Poly CL after chatting with the chef, it was Kinnikinnick brand, so I'll ask this fall and see if they have it at BC CL- you never know! FYI, apparently they are rather good and are available at Publix and Whole Foods (neither or which are anywhere near where we live, but they are in Orlando!). So, even if CL can't acquire it for us we can do a store run. She's gonna be thrilled, I'm quite excited!

They are gluten free, dairy free and nut free and some varieties are vegan. I'm not too into sweets, but the cinnamon doughnuts are so darn good! And surprisingly not 500 calories each! My husband gets all excited about them at Tusker House. I'd never asked about them on a prior trip CL, but I'm going to this time:)

I recently booked a split stay Poly/YC but that was based on the rooms looking the way they did in the pics (very nautical and fun). If the test room is what the real rooms look like we will want to rebook something else. The renovated rooms do not appeal to me and I know my daughters (11, and 16) will not care for them as well. Does anyone have recent experience with rooms that have been renovated? We are supposed to be there in mid August and I imagine we would end up with a renovated room by then. I would rather go full Poly if that is the case. The new room look is too generic for us.

We have a split say Poly/YC in August. I would have loved to do full Poly, but the reason we split was for the balcony. We are 5 people and haven't always gotten a balcony at the Poly. I like knowing we will have one at least for a few nights at the YC. If I could have guaranteed one at the Poly, we would have stayed there the whole time. Having said that, we never stayed at YC and are excited to see a new resort. Kids are excited about Stormalong Bay and the walk to Epcot is a nice plus. We are doing 4 nights at each one.

ohMom, Thanks for posting the pics. No such thing as too many pics. I love the new room, not sure about the floor though. Holding judgement on the floor until I stay in one. The GF has the laminate floor in the entry way and vanity area and it was fine so I am thinking I will be ok with it. I would love a room with a walk in shower, but I think op's are right that the queen rooms will have tubs and kings will get the shower. That would make the most sense. 54 days can't wait Woohoo!!!

Thank you for the pictures, but what happened to the pretty bed runners? Or had you personally removed them?

I saw the bed runners in black bags in the hallway on our check-in day, there was never one on our bed. I'm guessing they are being washed but I can't say for sure. I do think they add to the room and hope they put them back.

@natebenma, Yes it was a standard view room :-)

So on check out day we requested a late check out and they granted us that request. Josie & I went to MK and my mom went back to the room after breakfast to rest before we headed home. When she got back to the room it had been cleaned, but not like they clean in-between guests, which was odd since we were leaving that day and had requested late checkout. She was resting on the bed when she got a pretty good scare, another family walked into the room!!!! She gets scared pretty easily and she said her knees were shaking for some time after!! She decided to go down to the front desk and inquire about what happened, she was told that there was miscommunication all around and they apologized profusely. They also gave us a credit for one night which I thought was going above and beyond what they needed to do. I think there may be something going on with their system because on Saturday I received an email with someone else receipt for their stay and I had to go to the front desk to get my receipt emailed to me the day we checked out.

We are back from BC, club level.. We were there for 5 days. It was our first time at BC. Not our first time at CL. We have stayed CL at the GF, Poly and Contemporary. So I have plenty to compare to.

This was by far my least favorite club level experience. The food was the same almost every day. Same snacks (which is normal, I know)...Same breakfast (one day it was ham slices, one day roast beef, and one day salami was the only difference). Same for evening snacks and desserts. Always the same foods! I was shocked. The food was just meh, for me. There were a couple employees who were very friendly but most just went about their business.

Our room was in a great location-we weren't far from the elevators or the club, which is nice with 3 young kids. But mousekeeping was terrible. Most days we'd come back from the park around 3:00 and our room would still not have been made up. I love coming back to a freshly made up room so this was always disappointing. And to top it off, they consistently left 4 towels. There were 5 of us staying in the room. Hello!! Never any towel animals or "magic". My kids even commented on that.

Another thing-coming back from the parks the other day I noticed our neighbors had room service trays sitting outside their room. Those room service trays were STILL there the next morning! And were still there again after we had breakfast. I just can't believe NOBODY stopped to pick up these trays! It was gross!!

As far as the resort, it is beautiful! The decor is lovely. Our carpet had stains on it which was gross. And we had a handicap accessible room, so no bathtub which my 3 year old wasn't thrilled with. The biggest issue was our bathroom door didn't lock. So weird. You know, sometimes us mom's like to lock ourselves in the bathroom for a nice hot shower! That wasn't possible!

We were in room 5660. We had a full balcony. I'm so glad as we do use our balcony! We could actually see the MK and Epcot fireworks from our room! Just a bit of both but good enough for the kids!

You can't beat the walk to Epcot. I'll give it that. The pool wasn't for my family. My kids are 3, 7 and 13, so with it being so spread apart it was difficult. It's not a pool you can relax on the side with a beverage while the kids play. It's simply too big. And I didn't like that the kids had to leave the pool area, and cross the sidewalk to get in line for the slide. Again-beautiful pool, just not for our particular family dynamics!

Sounds like housekeeping was really slacking that week in your area of the hotel! Did you write Disney?

So finally a refurbed room with a day bed! Any chance you opened it up? Curious as to the size compared to the old ones. This looks more like a pull out couch vs the old daybed.

We did not try to open it - there really isn't much room between the end of the bed and the couch/daybed, I should've opened it and took pics. The thought never crossed my mind sorry

ohMom - Great pics! Thank you for sharing.:yay: I really like the look of the new rooms. Glad to see they do have the daybed in the completed rooms. Do you remember if the space under the beds was open and tall enough to stash suitcases? That would be a plus to keep the room tidy :teeth:

Yes I would say plenty of room under the bed

Thank you, once again, for the awesome detailed photos!!!! May I use them here on the thread and in the Yacht Club View thread?

Absolutely! PM me if you want any of them in their original file, most are over 1MB tho. I converted so they would post, but you might be smarter than I and have a different way that doesn't lose quality , anyhow just let me know whatever is easiest for you. I just realize the balcony photo isn't over here I will add it in soon. I have some additional club photos in the club information thread. You are welcome to any and all
