Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Sounds like housekeeping was really slacking that week in your area of the hotel! Did you write Disney?

We felt like our housekeeper was not on the ball either. I did get a survey and documented the complaints that came to mind when I filled it out, I just remembered that she also did not clear dirty dishes out of our room. After a few days I finally set all the glasses and dishes outside our door to be collected

To all my DIS friends in the north east, be safe out there today

Thank you!!! Just went out to shovel a path for the dogs. I DO NOT recommend being outside if you don't have to be today!

So on check out day we requested a late check out and they granted us that request. Josie & I went to MK and my mom went back to the room after breakfast to rest before we headed home. When she got back to the room it had been cleaned, but not like they clean in-between guests, which was odd since we were leaving that day and had requested late checkout. She was resting on the bed when she got a pretty good scare, another family walked into the room!!!! She gets scared pretty easily and she said her knees were shaking for some time after!! She decided to go down to the front desk and inquire about what happened, she was told that there was miscommunication all around and they apologized profusely. They also gave us a credit for one night which I thought was going above and beyond what they needed to do. I think there may be something going on with their system because on Saturday I received an email with someone else receipt for their stay and I had to go to the front desk to get my receipt emailed to me the day we checked out.

We had a similar issue at YC before. They ended up comping us a room too. We just haven't used the comped room yet. Probably January.

We are back from BC, club level.. We were there for 5 days. It was our first time at BC. Not our first time at CL. We have stayed CL at the GF, Poly and Contemporary. So I have plenty to compare to.

This was by far my least favorite club level experience. The food was the same almost every day. Same snacks (which is normal, I know)...Same breakfast (one day it was ham slices, one day roast beef, and one day salami was the only difference). Same for evening snacks and desserts. Always the same foods! I was shocked. The food was just meh, for me. There were a couple employees who were very friendly but most just went about their business.

Our room was in a great location-we weren't far from the elevators or the club, which is nice with 3 young kids. But mousekeeping was terrible. Most days we'd come back from the park around 3:00 and our room would still not have been made up. I love coming back to a freshly made up room so this was always disappointing. And to top it off, they consistently left 4 towels. There were 5 of us staying in the room. Hello!! Never any towel animals or "magic". My kids even commented on that.

Another thing-coming back from the parks the other day I noticed our neighbors had room service trays sitting outside their room. Those room service trays were STILL there the next morning! And were still there again after we had breakfast. I just can't believe NOBODY stopped to pick up these trays! It was gross!!

As far as the resort, it is beautiful! The decor is lovely. Our carpet had stains on it which was gross. And we had a handicap accessible room, so no bathtub which my 3 year old wasn't thrilled with. The biggest issue was our bathroom door didn't lock. So weird. You know, sometimes us mom's like to lock ourselves in the bathroom for a nice hot shower! That wasn't possible!

We were in room 5660. We had a full balcony. I'm so glad as we do use our balcony! We could actually see the MK and Epcot fireworks from our room! Just a bit of both but good enough for the kids!

You can't beat the walk to Epcot. I'll give it that. The pool wasn't for my family. My kids are 3, 7 and 13, so with it being so spread apart it was difficult. It's not a pool you can relax on the side with a beverage while the kids play. It's simply too big. And I didn't like that the kids had to leave the pool area, and cross the sidewalk to get in line for the slide. Again-beautiful pool, just not for our particular family dynamics!

I am sorry to hear about the mess and lack of housekeeping. We haven't been to a CL since before they added meats to breakfast, I am sorry to hear that you didn't like BC's CL but I'm happy you liked the location of your room.

I hear you about the kids with big age gaps. Our kids are all at least 3 years apart (7 years between youngest and oldest) and it can get frustrating when they are little little. My oldest will be 18 next time we go and it will be such a different vacation for us as parents. She will be a HS senior and plans to spend a lot of time exploring with her sisters, making their own memories together. <sniff>

I did not. Is there someone you'd email in particular? Honestly-I'm not looking for any kickbacks or anything so I probably wouldn't. I prefer to email when there is exceptional service. I don't plan to stay at BC again, so i don't know, why spin them all up.

Aw! I did say to my husband, it would be a great pool if you had older kids! Mine are 10 years apart (oldest and youngest!) so that is a big age gap too!

And why doesn't the YC/BC have any good quick service places?!

I forgot another one. I eat GF. Just by choice, so I don't ask for a chef or anything. We were up super early on our arrival day to travel, and just stopped down at the QS in the gift shop for a quick dinner. GF options didn't seem too great, so I ordered a roast beef sandwich without the bun. The woman ROLLED HER EYES at me! I couldn't believe it! I'm always super polite and try not to make things difficult! I just said -can I have a roast beef sandwich without the bun? Doesn't that seem simple enough???

It might make it better for those who stay after you. I would definitely say something about the issue. It is unacceptable considering what they charge per night.

So through a series of crazy events we are now staying at BC CL in a standard view room Sept. 1-4th! We've stayed at YC in a non-CL room but anything I should know that's different at BC? Do any of the standard view CL rooms have full balconies? Anything I should know about the CL in particular? Thanks we are so super excited to be staying here!

I totally get that, keeps life positive! So I guess a note in your case would be more geared towards helping future stays receive better housekeeping service. But there's definitely no reason to email them if it will upset you or if complaining just isn't your thing! (The email I have seen referenced is: WDW.Guest.Communications@disneyworld.com for complaints or compliments you may have)

It sounds like you are unwilling to give constructive criticism that may very well have a positive outcome for other visitors, but you are very willing to complain in detail on the DIS. I don't understand why. Not trying to be snide, I really don't understand your thinking.

Hi All. So happy to be back reading all your posts again. We are heading back to the YC in May for a week stay but not yet 100% on our dates.

We are YC people through and through but not sure how I feel about the no carpet in the new rooms. The second my 3 year old starting standing we covered every inch of our hardwood and tile with throw rugs to dampen any falls. Plus, depending on how often and how they clean it, it could still be extremely filthy. During our last YC stay in Nov/Dec the cleaning was honestly not great (I did email and completed the survey).

Love the shower but doubt we'll ever get it since we always bring DS. We always rolled our stroller into the closet but that only matters for a short number of visits.

Thrilled about a refillable mug station at YC. That really is HUGE. I love getting my a.m. coffee at Ale and Compass but it is a hike just for a refill to head all the way to BC.

Does anyone have the current hours for the YC marina? We're seriously considering renting a Boston Whaler (yay awning!), and I'm trying to figure out how to work it into the current schedule.

Huh. I wasn't complaining. I posted a lot of good points of our stay as well. I would be happy to copy and paste my exact post to Disney. Just not sure who I would send it to. I thoroughly enjoy peoples good/bad posts on here, and thought some of the things I said would be helpful. Your comment absolutely comes across as snide.

Oh thanks. I will send one off. I wasn't trying to be complain-y....I was sharing the pros and cons of our trip.

Mail is going to be the death of me trying to keep this trip secret! I got a fancy mailer today saying "So Many Wishes Are About To Come True. Walt Disney World" which I snatched out of my sisters hands and went "Ugh, they're always sending me ads!" Now to catch the next one in a couple days since I changed the dates a couple days after I booked and made a new reservation!

This is from October 2014 and I see they are able to change the time. I'm guessing longer hours in June. I may have a picture from Aug 2015- I'll take a peek in my photo files.

Marina Prices, October 2014:

Would love to have an updated picture of this sign with current prices and times from someone who is there now or will be going soon.

These are the two we received so far within a few days of each other! It is hard to keep it all quiet with disney being so timely and efficient about vacations. So if you have one and not the other, I'd say you have an extra one took for!
Ack! Thanks for the heads up! (I talked my way out of the blue one but that next one is just too obvious!)

Thanks for posting the great photos.
Can you please confirm that the ceiling fan has been removed from the sleeping area and replaced by a light fixture?

Both my travel mate and myself feel strongly there was no ceiling fan, but I don't have a pic that includes the ceiling sorry. Oddly enough neither of us remember a ceiling light fixture either, I'm fairly certain there was not one but this old girls memory isn't what it used to be

And welcome on the pics! I hope it helps or at least is fun to see

There was definitely no ceiling fan.

And thanks @ohMom for posting all your photos. Now I don't have to upload mine! Our pictures were pretty similar. I was in 5199.

I'm just not liking these no-carpet-trend rooms. The bare floors get dirty, too. And the sound is louder with these wood floors.

I think there is a lot of theming in the YC rooms, but I wish there was a beautiful area rug or something. Too sanitary (I know that sounds crazy).

I don't like it either. It's not soft on your feet after a long day in the parks & for sure it's louder. Check out day I had the world's most obnoxious family next door & I'm not a no kids person. I have 2 of my own & I always taught them to be quiet & courteous of the people in the surrounding rooms. Not this family. The kids started with yelling & singing pretty darn early. Not sure exactly what time since there are no clocks in the rooms any more (why is that?) but there wasn't much light coming in from outside. I also had a wake up call for 8:00 & it was long before that. Every once in awhile I'd hear a shhhhh but then it would start back up a minute or two later. Then it would get quiet for awhile so I was thinking oh good they must have had an early MDE pick up & are now gone only to have them start up again. This went on for a good 90 min. if not longer. So rude & inconsiderate. I could hear furniture banging too. Some of that would have been muffled if carpets were still in the rooms.

We are back from BC, club level.. We were there for 5 days. It was our first time at BC. Not our first time at CL. We have stayed CL at the GF, Poly and Contemporary. So I have plenty to compare to.

Interesting that you mention these 2 things. I enjoyed my stay (I was YC CL) but I have to say it was my least favorite CL stay so far too. A lot of new CMs in the lounge & at the desk. None were particularly friendly. Some greeted me in the morning & wished me a pleasant evening but that was about it. None addressed me by name which was always the case in the past. Food in the lounge I had no complaints on. My only complaint is the Nespresso machine & I've had the same problem last 3 stays. The steamer for the milk never works. It's always out of order. Fix it or get a new machine. Kind of defeats the purpose of having espresso for a latte if you can't get steamed milk.

My room was always made up very late in the day & I only got turn down service on my first night. The other two nights I came back to candy on the bed but that's it. I do have to say though the mousekeeping staff was always exceptional friendly in the halls. More so than the CL staff. I think this might be my last CL stay. I just can't justify the extra expense for something that's not above & beyond. It's not worth it for a continental breakfast, a few snacks, & a glass or two of wine.

I hate to sound so negative because overall I really did have a wonderful trip. Ate a ton of good food. Staff at Crews Cup & Captains Grill were excellent as always. Had a great meal & visit with one of my bartender friends at FF. Had brunch at Cali Grill. OMG so much food! Wear your stretchy pants if you go! It was very good. Epcot looks beautiful for F&G. Carl at Rose & Crown is a hoot as always. I had so many good meals I didn't have time or an appetite for much at the food booths which was disappointing. Oh well. Next year.

Oh yum! My little sister is gluten and dairy free and has been most of her life. Disneyland is the one place we have found where her dietary restrictions don't make much of a difference, in fact she feels special when the chef comes out to talk over something on the menu. Guess that's one of the reasons we've come to love Disney even more over the years, she has such a broad assortment of things she can eat that she just can't get at home. When I saw GF donut I thought it pretty much looked like the most amazing thing we could get her (next to chilling all day with Chip and Dale in the parks, but some things are not gonna happen ;) ). It was mentioned on the CL thread that someone got some GF donuts at Poly CL after chatting with the chef, it was Kinnikinnick brand, so I'll ask this fall and see if they have it at BC CL- you never know! FYI, apparently they are rather good and are available at Publix and Whole Foods (neither or which are anywhere near where we live, but they are in Orlando!). So, even if CL can't acquire it for us we can do a store run. She's gonna be thrilled, I'm quite excited!

You can also order them from Kinnikinnick directly! https://www.kinnikinnick.com/index/glutenfree/products/action/viewproducts/
They are gluten free, dairy free and nut free and some varieties are vegan. I'm not too into sweets, but the cinnamon doughnuts are so darn good! And surprisingly not 500 calories each! My husband gets all excited about them at Tusker House. I'd never asked about them on a prior trip CL, but I'm going to this time:)

HockeymomR got the GF doughnuts (and other treats/offers to prepare GF appetizers) during a trip in summer 2016. I would be interested in hearing current updates about what is available for guests with dietary restrictions.

:thumbsup2

We have a split say Poly/YC in August. I would have loved to do full Poly, but the reason we split was for the balcony. We are 5 people and haven't always gotten a balcony at the Poly. I like knowing we will have one at least for a few nights at the YC. If I could have guaranteed one at the Poly, we would have stayed there the whole time. Having said that, we never stayed at YC and are excited to see a new resort. Kids are excited about Stormalong Bay and the walk to Epcot is a nice plus. We are doing 4 nights at each one.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15 of this thread.

:cool1:

A split stay sounds like the best of both worlds- near MK for part of your trip and close to EP/HS for the rest. It is so nice to "pop over" to EPCOT on a whim. And to come back for a swim break at the incredible pool.

I hope you will provide feedback to us comparing the two resorts after your stay.

:goodvibes

I saw the bed runners in black bags in the hallway on our check-in day, there was never one on our bed. I'm guessing they are being washed but I can't say for sure. I do think they add to the room and hope they put them back.

@natebenma, Yes it was a standard view room :-)

So on check out day we requested a late check out and they granted us that request. Josie & I went to MK and my mom went back to the room after breakfast to rest before we headed home. When she got back to the room it had been cleaned, but not like they clean in-between guests, which was odd since we were leaving that day and had requested late checkout. Thanks for the confirmation!

YIKES on your mom's unexpected visitors!!!

Thanks for sharing your feedback about your stay. May I add a link to your observations to the review section on Page 1?

As others have suggested, please share your comments with Disney's Guest Communications (email available on the front page and has been provided by gottalovepluto).

There seem to be a lot of comments/complaints about housekeeping at the Yacht & Beach resorts lately and I would encourage people to share their experiences with Disney management because if they are not hearing about problems, they probably won't get fixed. I experienced the all-day-tray in the hallway during my recent trip and I agree that there is really no excuse for that not to be taken care of within a few hours.

::yes::

Absolutely! PM me if you want any of them in their original file, most are over 1MB tho. I converted so they would post, but you might be smarter than I and have a different way that doesn't lose quality , anyhow just let me know whatever is easiest for you. I just realize the balcony photo isn't over here I will add it in soon. I have some additional club photos in the club information thread. You are welcome to any and all

Thank you so much! The pictures you posted are great as is. I don't need high-resolution shots for my purposes, which are just for photographic reference and sample of rooms/views/CL offerings etc.

:thanks:

I'll add you to the list!

:woohoo:

Yes, many of the BC CL SV rooms do have full balconies, so make sure you request that if it is important to you. Most of these rooms will look out onto the front entrance parking lot.

Do you have a picture of the view from your room? If so, could you post that here or email to me: beachclubdee at yahoo.

That sounds miserable with the guests next door!
