Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Thanks for taking all those pictures. Your suite was gorgeous. But I think you may have mixed up the room number. Maybe you were in 1511 instead of 1115. All the rooms in that wing on the first floor start with 15xx. :)

That is exciting. Maybe we will run into you this time, although we will be staying at the WL. We always come and visit the BC/YC on every trip, even when we stay in another resort. We often get something to eat at Crews Cup or have dinner at Cape May. :)
SUE! I was booked at WL too :( for like a few days....I am sure we will find each other and have a toast at WS or BC/YC :)

Hello! We want to rent a car and drive from Legoland to the BCV. I tried calling Alamo inside the Swan and Dolphin as I believe this is the closest drop off to the BC? I could not speak directly to a person to inquire how to get ourselves and our luggage to our hotel BCV. Can anyone speak to their experiences with using this Alamo location, dropping off the rental, and getting to the beach club with luggage (2 adults, 2 seniors, 2 children). I wanted to use Alamo since Costco seems to have a good deal. I am open to any other suggestions as well. TIA!

The swan and dolphin are right next to the beach and yacht. We walk past them all the time. If necessary, you could probably make two trips and leave your luggage at the front desk of Swan or dolphin so that any older or younger people with you wouldn't have to move it. There is also a boat that goes between the two resorts.

I don't understand your advice.
A PP made a great suggestion. Drive to the BCV first, unload luggage and leave with Bell Services and let the passengers out to wait in the BC Lobby while the driver drives back to the Swan/Dolphin and drops off the rental. Then only the driver, minus all luggage, has to walk or boat back to the BC. The walk is a nice one and very quick.
What is your rationale for dropping the luggage at the Swan/Dolphin front desk?

I was just perusing about this website, and watched a few videos on houskeeping at Disney. Which led me to ask a few friends about their thoughts on tipping. One says they never tip. One says only in a standard room, never on club level because she was under the distinct impression tipping was prohibited on club floor with club floor cast members. ??? I understand it's a gesture, but I didn't feel mousekeeping was the same as the other cast members regarding tipping. What say you? And how much on CL? I always left $5 a day for my husband and myself. Too little, too much? Shouldn't be doing it?

This is my understanding on tipping.

I believe that Mousekeeping is considered a non-tipped position at Disney, however the CMs who make up your room are permitted to accept tips. The amount is discretionary- I have seen suggestions of $2 per person per day, I typically leave $5 per day whether it is just my husband and me or if it is the whole family.

Additionally, at club level, there is someone who turns down the room (and leaves chocolate)- I typically leave $2 for turndown.

As far as tipping the Club Level CMs- I have been told that CMs are not permitted to accept cash tips, but can receive other gifts valued at less than $75. I have heard conflicting information about whether gift cards are considered to be "cash". In the past when I have stayed club level, I have brought some local treats- a New England cookbook, small bottles of maple syrup, candy or Starbucks or Dunkin' gift cards of $5 or $10 for the CL staff to share.

:goodvibes

We had to change our dates and are now June 23-June 29. Also, I read that there is construction going on at the convention center and that the bus stop for BC has been moved to the villas and that there's a courtesy shuttle to/from the bus stop. Can anyone confirm this and if it's going to be a pain to get to and from the bus stop? This is our first bc visit and aren't sure. Thanks!

This is my understanding too. I just picked up to big bags of M&Ms to bring with me for the CL CMs at check in. You can never go wrong with candy. :goodvibes

2 more days! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Got it!

You are the second person in a week to mention the Convention Center construction and bus stop change. The convention center work is currently underway, but the bus stop relocation happened in the early fall 2016. The stops at both the YC and BC are back in their normal location unless there is a new change to the bus stop location that I haven't heard about yet.

Where did you see the info (hope it wasn't on the front page here... if so, I need to change that...)

ETA: I did have the former info, along with the effective dates in the transportation section, so I removed that info.

::yes::

I can check when I'm there Fri unless someone else can find out for sure before then. Odd though because I see nothing on the refurbishment list about that. Convention Center construction yes, but no mention of the bus stop being relocated.

What is your rationale for dropping the luggage at the Swan/Dolphin front desk?

For sure easiest to first drop at the BC. seemed like you wanted to drop car off first - just a way to not lug it all at once.

The bus stop was moved to the villas building back in October. But it has been back to its normal location for several months now. :)

Yes, the info says: Disney's Beach Club Resort- Expansion work on the Convention Center 8/4/2016 - 2/1/2018. Guests may see work or hear the work in progress and certain pathways may be unavailable. Work will be conducted 9 AM to 9 PM. Beach Club bus stop has been moved to the Beach Club Villas parking lot. There will be a courtesy shuttle to get guests to the bus stop.

I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about the YC.

BC bus stop has long been completed & back to it's normal spot. Saw it with my own eyes in Dec.

I believe somebody asked about the hours for the quiet pool and spa. The hours are currently 7 am - 11 pm. There is a keyed lock on each gate to the area.

The YC is currently working on the 4th floor rooms. Fittings and Fairings food area should open the end of May, at which time, the merchandise area will be enlarged and remodeled.
