Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Ok, let's start the new year off with some awesome news.....

img_6134.jpg

(Clearly I believe in cutting to the chase.)

On 12/30, my DBF, (some of you know him as Tom, some know him as JNPants here on the board-he will hereafter be referred to as "DF"), asked me to marry him after 10 years of dating. He presented me with a beautiful watch to mark the occasion, and the next day we picked out matching rings.
Everyone is asking us if we'll having a Disney wedding, and the short answer is, no, but since we live in New England, and will hopefully get married near the water, I'm hoping the SAB Precision Swim/Dive team can put on a show that involves spelling out our names, and a rough image of the front porte cochere, so we can feel like we're at BC. NinjaMom, can you get on this? I'm leaving this up to you.
:beach:
Hooray!! Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness!!

I believe it does. The only room I know at the YC without a full balcony is (next door) Room 5163.

Someone please correct me if I am mistaken.
You are correct. Room 5161 has a full balcony. Here is a picture where I have circled 5161 in red and with an arrow. Just click on the thumbnail image below. It is a "Water view" CL room.

Note: 5163 is what is known as a corner room and that accounts for the issue with it not having a balcony. It faces the area of the Yacht Club.

Reminder: it is not advisable to request a specific room, since if that room is not available for the room assigner, they will not know what else to offer you.

ETA: Correct the room numbers, just goes to show you can't believe everything you see on the internet. Always good to have 2 sources. Thanks Natebena!

While it's helpful advice to suggest asking for a late check-out earlier, there really is no telling what the answer will be. They might offer a 12:00pm instead of a 1:00pm or they may say "Not possible, sorry."
I don't think there is any usual answer to this question.

I requested a late check out at BC about midway through my stay and they said "yes" but suggested I confirm the day of check out. Of course when I asked to confirm that day they said "no". Don't count on a late check out even if they say "yes" before the day of -- they can change their mind until the actual day of check out and you have no recourse ....

I had a late flight and probably should have just booked the extra day but I had the DDXDP and didn't really want to pay for an extra day of that. Lesson learned --- won't do a dining plan if I have a late departure and will book the extra day instead. Will probably save me a few dollars that way.

I thought

5163 = smaller balcony

5161 = regular (full) balcony

Again, only from what I have seen posted. I have not stayed in either room.

Full disclosure- I can't read a map, and I'm not sure how exactly the one below corresponds with the picture I took of the room with the smaller balcony. The turret suite is next to this bank of rooms, but I'm not sure how far it extends into the hallway. Is the balcony in the top right part of the suite? Or is there only a balcony that looks out onto the front entrance courtyard for the suite?

I'll have to look at the pictures recently posted of the suite, but I think that is the case.

Good catch as usual, I transposed the room numbers, I corrected my post to reduce confusion. The Turret Suite, room 5157 as you call it is really the "Admiral Suite" and it is big, only the "Captain's Deck" is bigger than the AS. The AS has 2 bedrooms and 2 and 1/2 baths. The full balcony and the Juliet type balcony on right side: the top 2 right balcony's,

There is also an error in the "View" layout that you posted. Room 5163 is not a "Water view", it is located where you see the clapboard siding and the Dormer Roof on the left side of the building picture that you posted and has no "Water view or balcony". It has a long hallway from it's interior door that runs along a set of windows that overlook the rest of the YC Building to the SW. It has a view of the garden / Gazebo / walkways and is classified as a "Garden View" as the other group of rooms on that side: 5148-5154 with 5148 being the inside corner room closest to the elevator / CL lobby.

Thanks for the clarification!

I knew that the old map couldn't be right!

I wish I had paid more attention during my stay in October. I should have gone over to check out where 5163 was.

:rolleyes1

Thank you for your answers. Touring plans lists this room as one of their "picks" for CL water view. I'm planning on using their faxing service, I'll be happy with most YC water views, wanted to make sure we could sit on balcony and enjoy it.

Congrats - I'm so happy for you both!

Yes, 5161 is a great room: short hallway section that dead-ends at 5163 which reduces interior hallway noise and is more "secluded". It is also a great view of Crescent Lake as this section of the building extends closer to the water. However it is the only "Water View" non-suite room in that section, which can really reduce or limit your chance of getting your specific room "Request".

I would suggest you not request a specific room, if the room is not available on the day the Room Assigner is scheduling your room, you would be out of luck. I would suggest you include a sample of what you are looking as your "Request". It is always helpful if you indicate the reason for your request: Full balcony or direct view of Crescent Lake for example or view orientation such as SE, SW, N facing room when possible.

I also suggest you include other "Water view" CL rooms in your request to make sure the room assigner is able to understand how to best match your request(s). Please consider adding the next best block of CL "Water View" rooms that don't overlook SAB with the associated activity (noise) and lighting at night. There are 8 of them: 5171-5185 (all odd numbered), with my favorite of this group being 4 rooms, 5175-5181. They are centered over the walkway to the resort launch dock and have great Crescent lake views. Just a little more activity in the hallway. They are still located close to the CL lounge and the elevators.

Note 1: Room 5163 may not have a balcony but it is still in my view the best CL "Garden View" room. It has lots of windows and is very bright and is a little more spacious than a standard room layout.

Note 2: For all requests, it is best to have your request(s) noted in your original reservation when ever possible. TP FAX service is great but there is always a chance that it might not get noted in your reservation, while rare it can and does happen. Also consider checking at the Front Desk to double check that your assigned room matches your indicated "Request(s)" on your reservation and if not ask if there is another room that might better match your request(s). The earlier you ask the better, since late in the evening there may be fewer available or no other room options. It never hurts to ask but as a reminder, only your booking class "View", Standard, Garden or Water is confirmed.

The Villas quiet pool is not fenced in. The hours are posted as 7-11 or something like that, but I've definitely seen people swimming after 11 this week.
They're working on the fence now and it's about 75% complete. The biggest detractor will be the fence that now separates the first villas from access to the pool. On many occasions I have seen families walk right out of their rooms to the pool. It's not a lot of rooms but I'm sure folks liked the easy access.

I have indicated the location of 5613 on your picture that you posted this morning, just for future reference.

Thank you!!! I really appreciate your help and clarification.

So the room to the right of that is 5161? And then the small balcony under the arch, as well as the full balcony to the right of that are both part of the Admiral Suite?

:goodvibes

Congratulations Scott MC. I'm betting the Synchronized Swim Team will be the highlight of the reception. Especially with that headwear.
Good luck to all runners and walkers. And may I say (in the theatrical sense), "break a leg"!
Got my Magic Bands, got my ME straps, and now I have to find my patience to wait another 19 days. I've lost that somewhere.

Happy New Year everyone!!

Time to catchup with this thread for the first time this year.

On the subject of room views/balcony type/facilities has anyone seen the MS Sharepoint Site they use at the front Desk? At BC in Dec the desk staff were amazing at being able to show us pictures of the room views, the dimensions of the balcony etc etc. They have so much more info then just a map of the resort, I joked that the people of the internet would love access to the information on there, he said they might do it, but I doubt it lol!

Did you check the secret closet?

OK- that piques my interest!

I have not seen or heard about this previously.

Want!

Although I would be quite happy just getting a copy of the detailed YC map like we have for the Beach Club...

Yeah it was really interesting. We arrived on Thanksgiving and as such wanted to give us a King room for 2 weeks for the two of us to ease occupancy (understandable), but we wanted a Large balcony and our allocated room didn't have that. A really helpful CM went through what they did have available, showing us pictures and room plans, and we ended up with a King Room on the Corner furthest away from Epcot, with a double length balcony. It was perfect, and really useful to have that information. It does seem that now they are able to check allocations without always calling up too. Before I've had to wait for them to call the allocations team (at Val, Mods and Deluxe)

Dave006 thanks for all your info, it is very helpful. I've noted all your suggested room numbers and feel confident I'll be happy with any of them. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
