Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

page 519-521

Just returned from a 9-night stay at Yacht Club (our first at YC!). The location can't be beat, and we loved being able to walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, along with exploring the Boardwalk area. (FYI, the ice cream at Ample Hills Creamery is to die for!)

*snip*

As for the room, it was clean, and mousekeeping did a very nice job each day. The room showed quite a bit of wear and tear: marks on the wallpaper, loose wallpaper seams, nonfunctioning lights, rusty spots on chrome fixtures, stains on the carpet, broken or missing decorative pieces on mirrors, etc. Obviously YC is overdue for a refurb, and it's a little disappointing to pay deluxe prices for a room that is not in deluxe condition.

That being said, we would stay at YC again, especially after a refurb.

Thank you so much for this helpful review. I would like to link it to the trip review section of this thread (Page 16) and to the comments about condition of YC.

Hi everyone DD and I are booked for the BC for her Spring Break form 3/10/17-3/19/17. We are really looking forward to our stay and appreciate all the valuable information we've found on this thread. Please add us to the list

:welcome:

I'll add you to the list.

So excited to be returning to the Beach Club August 9-18, 2016. Woot Woot!!

:welcome: back!!!

I'll add you to the list.

:woohoo:

We just returned from our trip. We stayed at CBR our first night before transferring to YC for 7 nights. We paid for a water view room at CBR but were upgraded to a preferred room at Martinique Bldg 25. The view wasn't great, but being close to the food court was convenient, and we were close to the circle drive. Thanks to advice here, we downloaded the Uber app and received a free ride to YC using Uber XL. It was so easy and quick!

I stated earlier that we received our request at YC for a GV room facing the gazebo with a daybed. I requested extra bedding to make the daybed more comfortable. Our room was in perfect condition, not showing any signs of age whatsoever (Rm #3091) and no creepy picture of the sailor!

Hello everyone. I am leaving the board. Our friends (who we travel with) somehow lost their BC CL reservations for our dates and couldn't get another. We now switched over to Poly CL so we could all be together. We are aiming to try BC next year. Thank you all for your help! Enjoy your trips!

Thanks for letting us know.

Wishing you the very best for a fantastic trip!

Hi all... wanted to give a quick run down of the past 3 days. Staying off property for business and will be checking into the YC in a few days, cannot wait!!! Just a few things to share for anyone who might be interested!

Great live report! Thanks for taking time out during your trip to share some Disney with us!

What time do boats begin running to Studios from YC?

:welcome:

Do you have an upcoming trip booked?

:goodvibes:

We are staying for the first time at the BC. I am so excited. I am surprising my family when we get there. They think we are staying at CBR.

Forgot to say

:welcome:

When is your trip?

:cool1:

We just returned from a fantastic quick weekend trip to the YC CL. The weather was unseasonably warm - CM were saying that it was August heat and even they were unprepared, so we were very grateful for SAB!!

We had a SV CL room and we were very pleased with the room and of course the Club Lounge was wonderful. Our kids are 9 and 6 and really like to engage with the CM, so staying CL is a real treat for them. The CM were amazing and could not do enough for us. The food was great - having breakfast and coffee ready and waiting in the morning is a gift. I hate having to fetch breakfast as we are trying to prepare for the day. Again, because of the heat and then the rain yesterday, we found ourselves spending more time at the resort than anticipated and YC never disappoints.

Any questions? Ask away :)

Thanks so much for your review!

I am looking forward to my first YC stay in October.

:woohoo:

This is the ship going between our 2 piers, North and South as it leaves the River Tyne and enters the North Sea. We live near the port which is in a town called North Shields and the South pier is located in a town called South Shields. It's a great fishing area and boasts the best fish in the north. It's a huge fishermen's working area called the Fish Quay. We also have a ferry to take us across the Tyne to get to the other town.
Just a few facts about our location. X

Cool!!!

Thanks for sharing.

Recently got back from a first time stay at Beach Club. We were assigned a handicap room, which was a little inconvenient because it only had one sink and the door is slow to close, but the proximity to the lobby and the marketplace could not be beat. A little bit of a bummer at check in since we had to wait until 3:30 for our room to be ready. Overall though it was a great place to stay. Beds were very comfy. Busses were always pretty timely for us. Pool was nice, but a little too big for my liking. We watched the HS fireworks from the beach of the hotel. They were great.

Thanks so much for the comments about your trip.

I just have to tell you that your family keeps putting a smile on my face. Your "incredible" profile pic is one of my favs and then this pizza pic. LOL!! :rotfl:
Thank you!!! :)

We were going through pictures from our trip on my camera during the flight home, and those 2 pizza pics were right in a row. We all burst out laughing at the before and after comparison!!!

What is the source? I can't find anything about it. Thanks for your help.

My friend is the project manager overseeing the whole rehab of the BCV and the YC. I have no idea why it was pushed back, he just said that it was and now they're starting things in November instead of August. I assume at some point Disney will update their information, but perhaps not until closer to the dates.

I remembered reading that someone on here was given free tickets to an early screening of Finding Dory. Do y'all think Ellen could make a surprise appearance!?!

And does anyone know if the noise from the service road is bad if you have a room in that area? Thank you for any feedback.

I'm in a room with the road close by right now. I really only hear the cars if the balcony door is open and even then it's not bad. I have been enjoying sitting out on the balcony reading and haven't been disturbed.

I'm so happy you arrived and got a renovated room! I'm not sure if you recognize my screen name but I followed along with your PTR. I hope your foot is okay and not bothering you.

Yes, I recognize you! :) Thank you! My foot has not been the best, but we're managing and having a great time regardless. Loving it here!

Greetings from the BCVs. Yesterday was a day where it was supposed to thunder storm and it didn't. My family doesn't like to plan that much (I'm the planner and it is very frustrating) but we were pretty sure we didn't want to go to the parks early the day after we arrived. When you stay for 11 nights you have the flexibility to have a few down days. We had previously booked fast passes in the evening at Magic Kingdom as there was a 7DMT available at 8:15.

We finally unpacked our bags yesterday morning and I asked DD18 what she wanted to do for the morning. At 8:50 she said she wasn't feeling Magic Kingdom that day and the 7DMT was cramping our dinner hour. She wanted to do Hollywood Studios! A 9:05 TSM fast pass came up, I grabbed it and we hightailed it to HS. Couldn't book ToT until much later but I did. We had no idea what we were going to do. We were going with the flow. We drove for expediency purposes (and because the forecast was for thunderstorms and we figured we would do our grocery run). On the way, I pulled up available dinner reservations and a CG popped up at 7:30. We looked at each other, said yes and bam! We had plans for the evening. We arrived at HS in time for our TSM fast pass, which we did. We had just arrived back at the unloading area when the ride was shut down. They escorted us off the ride and gave us a "any attraction fast pass " for our inconvenience! Inconvenience? We got to ride. I wasn't so inconvenienced! We used it to hop on RRC which was posting a 70 min wait. Got off it and were stopped by a cast member. Were we interested in participating in a survey? Would take 15 mins. We said sure. We were going with the flow. It was an extremely interesting survey about our transportation experiences at Disney. Very interesting. Another freebie fast pass which we used to do TOT. Walked thru some shops, watched a show and we decided it was time for the pool. We had been at the park a total of 2 hours.

We were going to hang at the pool until the weather turned. It never did. We finally left the pool at 6:00 to get ready for our dinner. Of note at SAB...they have closed the two entrances at either end of SAB on the hotel side and instead had one entrance in front of the spa. I'm sure it is a cost cutting measure. At some level it is a little annoying but at another, I always used to hate walking in front of Beaches and Cream in my bathing suit to use the rest room so it's all good.

CG was wonderful. DD and I had a great experience. We had the most amazing soft shell crab appetizer and filet, topped off by a complimentary celebratory creme brûlée with a fresh peach bottom. We weren't celebrating anything but our waitress was fantastic and decided we needed to try it. Love those magical moments! We watched the fireworks from our table. A perfect evening. DD said on the way home..."See mom, sometimes going with the flow just works out better than anything you could have planned." What a great day!

Hello! :wave2: If you end up staying in a renovated studio, can you make note of the size of your coffee maker (and if it is still a drip machine)? There are conflicting reports that the updated studios now have a 10-cup machine instead of a 4-cup.

Enjoy your trip! :flower1:

Hopefully this will end the confusion. The coffee maker is 12 cups. There were two packs of coffee in the studio along with sugar and creamers. I did not see filters. Not sure if you need them. I'm not a huge coffee person. I get my morning caffeine from Diet Coke ( though I won't say no to an iced mocha or flavored latte from Starbucks).

Thank you for your contribution!

Yes, there is one question I'd like to have a firm answer for: If you happen to be at the Marketplace during the breakfast hours, could you please ask if they are able to make the Mickey Waffles Gluten Free?

Thank you!
The marketplace definitely has Mickey waffles. They are served with bacon. So I spoke with one of the cast members who told me that they can do gluten free Mickey waffles, but to be aware it will take a little longer if you are in a hurry. They get them from Cape May Cafe. Hope that helps!

The layout for a dedicated studio vs. a lock-off studio are virtually the same. The only slight differences with the lock-off are that you have the connecting door which is in the foyer [front] area of the room and the foyer area is slightly roomier in a lock-off than a dedicated studio. And by slightty I mean slightly. I recall a small shelf with coat hooks in the lock-off foyer area which a dedicated does not have.

So this is the shelf to which PCFriar80 referred. Sorry all our stuff is hanging there. There are three pegs for hanging. I will say I miss this shelf in the dedicated studio.

Promise I will post more pics of renovated studio. I was just having trouble with this post and decided to post them separately.

Thanks natebenma for adding us to the March 2017 list
Could you please add us for November 21-28 2016 too :D

We were currently booked for a room only at POFQ which DD and I love for our Thanksgiving trip. After reading all the great things about the BC to prepare us for our March trip I decided to check our November dates for the Free Dining promotion with no luck :sad2:

Then it happened BC popped up with a standard room and I grabbed it without thinking. So now our 5 day Thanksgiving trip has turned into 8 days with Free Dining and we're staying at the BC :woohoo:

Please add us to the November 2016 list 11/21-11/28

Yes, that more than helps! That makes us count down the night before we are there with even more enthusiasm! We are really looking forward to these waffles!
:thanks:

We will be at the BC for 10 nights so we really enjoyed reading your go with the flow approach. Whenever our DDs ask about this upcoming trip, they check that we are still going that long because they want us to enjoy Disney slowly:snail:
