Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

We are here and in a renovated room! It's absolutely beautiful and smells like fresh paint. We came in through the side door from the parking lot to escape the rain and ended up walking through the construction -oops! I didn't get pics, but they are working on the entire first floor of the wing on the canal side. Seems they are done with all the other floors of this wing and should be ready to move to the last one soon!

I'm so happy you arrived and got a renovated room! I'm not sure if you recognize my screen name but I followed along with your PTR. I hope your foot is okay and not bothering you.

I found out in my conversation with DVC that at one point they had taken the real mugs and glasses out of the studios and because of all the feedback they received they added them back. Not sure who it was who said it previously, make sure everyone provides this feedback and requests the items. If too many people request them, they will end up adding them back.

One final call for any pics/investigative services etc. The only open request I seem to remember is pics of the bathroom near Ariels. I couldn't find the original post to pm whoever had the request but I assume you are referring to the one directly behind Cape May. Anything in particular you want?

And please, if anyone has additional requests post them on the board or pm me and I will be happy to help. I like to have missions. We will be there for 12 days so plenty of time. After all, we can't spend all our time at SAB (or can we?).
Thank you for your contribution!

Yes, there is one question I'd like to have a firm answer for: If you happen to be at the Marketplace during the breakfast hours, could you please ask if they are able to make the Mickey Waffles Gluten Free?

The official answer from the Special Diet Team at WDW Guest Service was: "Most Table-Service locations and Quick-Service locations in the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts offer no-gluten added products for the main menu items with or without prior notice. For instance, if a location
has waffles as the main menu item, they will generally offer gluten allergy-friendly waffles as well.

Thank you!

We are staying for the first time at the BC. I am so excited. I am surprising my family when we get there. They think we are staying at CBR. My youngest son, 7, loves Mickey waffles and I haven't seen anywhere where you can buy them. They are his favorite and I am worried we won't be able to get any. We can walk to another resort nearby. Does anyone know where we can get them? Thanks!

Captain's Grille in the Yacht Club serves Mickey Waffles.

I believe you are now able to get Mickey Waffles at both the Beach Club Marketplace and the Ale & Compass lounge in the mornings. This was reported a month or so ago eliciting a huge

OH EM GEE!

from me.

I have asked a guest who will be there starting today to take some photos of the menu boards so I can post updated pictures.

For those who are planning fall 2016 trips, Southwest's big Birthday Sale started today and runs for three days. Travel dates must be 08/23/2016 - 12/14/2016 for domestic travel. FL travel valid on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Spot checking shows some other days available for same fare, so try the Low Fare Calendar to search dates/fares.

Warning - availability for lowest fares at popular times is not good; other fares are high.

Very often, other carriers meet Southwest's fares, at times like this. So, if Southwest doesn't have availability for your dates, check other airlines over the next few days.

Low fares on flights starting @$49 each way

Does anyone know the difference between a dedicated studio and lock off studio in the BCV? I think I understand the room connection aspect to be turned into a 2 bedroom if needed, but are the rooms the same size wise and furniture setup wise? And does anyone know if the noise from the service road is bad if you have a room in that area? Thank you for any feedback.

The layout for a dedicated studio vs. a lock-off studio are virtually the same. The only slight differences with the lock-off are that you have the connecting door which is in the foyer [front] area of the room and the foyer area is slightly roomier in a lock-off than a dedicated studio. And by slightty I mean slightly. I recall a small shelf with coat hooks in the lock-off foyer area which a dedicated does not have.

As far as the service road noise, you can barely hear it when the doors are closed and for us it's tolerable when enjoying the balcony.

What time do boats begin running to Studios from YC?

As a general rule, the Friendship boats begin running 30 minutes before HS opening. I know this is not for everyone, but we always walk from the BCVs to HS in the AM and for the most part will beat the boat. Out of the BCVs, past the Boardwalk, shortcut through the BW clown pool and down the canal to HS. Typically takes 20 minutes. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you so much for the info. I tried looking before and didn't see them. I am SOOOOOO glad they have them, it's one of the highlights of my sons trip. I am surprising everyone with the beach club. I appreciate you getting the info to me. Is the Marketplace real crowded in the morning? It looks kind of small.

I have printed off a bunch of different disney packing lists I have found. What is something you always take that some people wouldn't think of? I have disposable rain panchos, moleskin, and the usuals. Do you buy special socks for moisture wicking?

I know this may only be important to a select few people, but I found out before our first trip that the parks do not sell gum. I was so glad that I read that because for one of my boys, it's almost a necessity. It may sound strange, but gum chewing helps him stay focused and relaxed. The mint (or sour) flavor is "stimulating" and the chewing is like a substitute for fidgeting with his hands. :hyper:

And, others may just enjoy chewing gum! :D

We just returned from a fantastic quick weekend trip to the YC CL. The weather was unseasonably warm - CM were saying that it was August heat and even they were unprepared, so we were very grateful for SAB!!

We had a SV CL room and we were very pleased with the room and of course the Club Lounge was wonderful. Our kids are 9 and 6 and really like to engage with the CM, so staying CL is a real treat for them. The CM were amazing and could not do enough for us. The food was great - having breakfast and coffee ready and waiting in the morning is a gift. I hate having to fetch breakfast as we are trying to prepare for the day. Again, because of the heat and then the rain yesterday, we found ourselves spending more time at the resort than anticipated and YC never disappoints.

Any questions? Ask away :)
