Ok, back to report on all the good from our vacation. Our trip home ruined my day, but definitely not the great time we had.
We were in a 2-bedroom villa, room 254. It is in the bend looking out at the Villa Pool. We had a balcony that stretched across the three rooms and at the end (middle of the bend), it was about 10 feet deep. We had 7 chairs out there and 3 tables. It was great. The room itself had extra space in the kids' room because of the bend as well. This room also had a bit of a different configuration than other 2-bedroom villas. Instead of when you walk in being able to go to either bedroom, the entrance to the kids' bedroom was through the living room. I have no idea how to resize my pictures to make them small enough to post, but I can email them if someone else wants to post them. Sorry!
Special moments...
My daughter's 9th birthday. If you remember, she doesn't like store-bought cake and I was trying to figure out how to bake her one. Well, I did it! She got a home-baked (from a box) cake! I brought everything down with me and just bought eggs and oil from the Marketplace. Score one for Mommy! That night we went to Biergarten for dinner - her choice. The band didn't mention her name when they sang happy birthday which bummed us all out as we had made note of it on the reservation and again when we arrived for our ADR. No matter, the waitress brought her a card written and signed in German wishing her a happy birthday. This was MUCH better in her opinion - she brought it into school today to show it off. We walked out of the restaurant 5 minutes before Illuminations was going to start and found an empty bench right in front of Germany. Besides that good luck, we got to watch Wishes in the distance. Super special! We had no idea that you could see both shows at the same time.
My son (6, almost 7) lost his first tooth in China! We were starting to think he'd never lose a tooth, so it was quite a surprise when 2 suddenly became loose on our trip. He must have been wiggling them, because all of sudden as we were entering the pavilion, he jumps up and down all excited. Twenty minutes later, he pulled out his second. Luckily the Tooth Fairy found him in the BCV.
Meeting the princesses. Last trip we met most of the princesses at breakfast at Akershus and didn't spend much time waiting in lines to see them again. Well, I can now say that meeting them outside of the restaurant was so different. They were really interactive and made my children so happy. One afternoon, walking back to the resort, Rapunzel just happened to be near the bridge near France/UK. She doesn't normally meet in EPCOT. So, we got in line. When my kids got up there, she was great with them. My son told her that his one sister was his twin and she went on and on telling them how they reminded her of Flynn and Maximus. Then, she told him he should buy a satchel in his favorite color (orange). She was great, but my absolute favorite was Merida. I wanted to meet her because I knew my oldest daughter would love shooting the arrow at her meet and greet. Well, she was hysterical. She hid from my son, told my daughter how her mother always brings her down with all of her rules, and then kissed my son because he was a brave warrior (one of my best pictures of the week!). Then, when my kids asked her questions about her brothers, she told them their names (three Scottish names that she said very quickly and I can't remember!) and about how they sometimes sneak around and eat little cakes to turn into bears and play games. Then, in the parade later in the week, she smiled and pointed at my kids recognizing them. We also met Pocahontas - who people are always telling me that I look like. She was a bit more reserved, but when my husband made me get a picture with her, she told me that I was as wise as Grandmother Willow and thanked me for introducing her to my tribe. It was a lot of fun talking to them all! (We also met Elsa, Anna, and Snow White)
Star Tours - My 6 year old daughter was the one picked to be shown as the Spy. She LOVED that. She kept telling the whole room that she wasn't a spy.
September is a great time to go if you can handle the heat. We had very little rain - which was a change from 2 year ago. Of our 10 days, we only needed our ponchos during 3 of them. Between our long stay - 10 days - and the low crowds, we didn't rush at all. We had plenty of time to do everything we wanted and some things twice. We tried a few restaurants new to us - Captain's Grille, Biergarten, Coral Reef, Via Napoli, Rose & Crown - as well as did Blizzard Beach and Fantasia Mini Golf for the first time with the kids.
Any questions? Hit me up.
