Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

The CL prices for me were, at a minimum, $1200 more for the week than the SV rooms. That's a lot of Sunken Treasures. I'm still not sure I can convince my husband this is a good idea. Going cheap is the only way, really. As I think about it, it might well just be me and the two middles, since I took my oldest and youngest this last August. The middles fight like crazy, but at Disney they have the most in common in terms of what they like to ride. I considered taking my mom, but that heat almost did her in last year. I'm better off waiting and hoping for some sort of deal in 2017 and taking her to flower and garden. Which would put the BC back on the table because the middles loved the pool area and they love Epcot.

For the 4 of us, CL was $1600 more - that's almost our entire food budget for a 9 day trip and with two kids in college next year, there's no way I can justify that! We still haven't made a decision yet but if we do pull the trigger I have to stick to a budget so it will either be a std view at YC (girls haven't stayed here yet) or GV over at the GF. My preference is the YC but I think I'm going to let my youngest DD decide this time around since our most recent experience last month at the Poly was a major bust and she was so disappointed as that was her "dream" resort. Decisions, decisions....

We stopped by Crews Cup for lunch yesterday and noticed that they are putting up a pretty large structure in the YC parking lot right across from the Conference Center. It looks like something permanent - anyone know what it is going to be?

Is it going to be the new Shower room/Locker room facility for the Stormalong Bay pool complex? (Insert hopeful look...)

I was kind of hoping that a new shower room/locker room facility would be near the pool. The YC parking lot sounds a little inconvenient to me. :upsidedow

Hi there!

I have read most, but not all the information at the start of the thread so please forgive me if I missed the answer to this!!

We were thinking about a quick night or two stay at the Beach Club while visiting family in FL next June for a Disney fix and to enjoy Stormalong Bay! We would have 4 adults and two kids (ages 6 and 2). The Disney site allows me to book the Beach Club. Does this mean we will get a room with two queens and a daybed (I am planning on a pack and play for the baby)?

Thanks for the help!

It's official, thanks to the discount released today. February 29 to March 4 for DH and me!!! Our daughter and her family relocated to Kissimmee from Wisconsin so we'll spend three nights with them before moving to BC. Too short of a time at BC, but I'll take what I can get.

Streaking nekked through the parking lot may seem inconvenient at first but if you get yourself one of them "Nekked Fit Bits" and start training an advance of your trip there will be less time to see you as you sprint by on your way to the "Convention Center pool locker room". I start preparing for a trip by streaking nekked through the neighborhood and then I work my way up to shopping centers and then finally mega malls. It's great exercise and you save a lot of money by not having to purchase any of those fancy work out clothes!

Ideally yes, but the day bed is not guaranteed. I had a friend book YC for her, DH, and 4 kids with one under 3. They were given 2Q and a rollaway. To say she was disappointed was an understatement, but she still enjoyed her trip. They did a split stay with BWI, and she definitely was more comfortable with the daybed

So, our flight ended up being cancelled bc the plane couldn't be immediately repaired. Unfortunately it was the only flight into Trenton today so we had to rebook flying into Philly. We then needed to get a car to drive us home and then get our cars at the Trenton airport. It was such a hassle and Frontier was very little help. They will reimburse our flight, but we had to leave the gate to go get our luggage, book another flight ourselves, check our bags with the other carrier, and then go back through security. We had to ride the tram at MCO 4 times!

I'll be on the phone with Frontier tomorrow as all they promised to reimburse is the flight - no baggage fees. I also expect for them to reimburse the car service I needed because we had to fly into a different airport. It may be a fight, but I don't think that we should have to cover those extra costs.

And, to top it off, the flight was a little bumpy and my DD6 threw up during landing. Poor thing!

We had a great trip despite the ending, but I'll share some highlights when I'm rested and in a better frame of mind. :crazy2:
Glad you had a great trip! But now I'm scared since I am flying Trenton to MCO next month. Fingers crossed. Ugh I hope I am not punished for getting such a great deal on airfare. We've done Frontier out of Allentown and had great experiences, so again fingers crossed. Sorry your DD6 got sick that's horrible!

Thanks so much for all the help with my questions! I have one more, my father stumped me... do the mini refrigerators in the rooms have a freezer section? My parents are bringing cold packs that they'd like to keep frozen for the trip back home.

I've been fighting a sinus headache that feels more like a migraine now, I finally gave in and took meds, and it's slowly getting better. Now it's time to PACK! I'll be on my way to the airport in 12 hours, woohoo!!! YC, here I come!!! :jumping1:

The day beds are not guaranteed however when there are 5 people (plus your infant) in the room those parties are given a priority for a day bed. The thing to keep in mind is that since a day bed is not guaranteed you may face the possibility of having to have a roll-away bed placed in the room. That would make it a tight fit with your need for a pack and play for the infant. Your best bet would be to check in directly at the front desk upon your arrival so that you can discuss your concerns with the staff members directly at the hotel. If you find yourself with a Cast Member who may not be assisting you as needed then be sure to ask to speak to a manager while at the front desk.

It is a good idea to put Day Bed as your room request before you check in to the hotel but don't do that online advanced check in as you will be assigned a room that may or may not meet your needs.

Now lets say you get to the resort, do the in person check in and the front desk CM says that your room has a day bed. The thing to keep in mind is that the CM might be wrong. Sometimes some CM's have a sense of which rooms have the Day Beds and some don't. So what you do is you go up to your room and check to see if it has one. If it doesn't.... don't panic... GO BACK DOWN to the FRONT DESK and ask to speak with a manager. IF and I mean IF there is still a room with a daybed that is not currently occupied the staff at the resort will try to help you as best as they can. Since occupancy rates at the Beach Club are running VERY HIGH the resort might not have the day bed inventory and thus you would have to make use of a folding bed.

Good luck and remember that if you have a problem while at the resort NEVER CALL from your room as those calls get directed to a call center and your concern gets added to the end of a list for that resort. ALWAYS go down to the front desk and speak with the staff at the resort to increase your chances for the best and fastest assistance.

Are guests allowed to lock the ground floor room from the outside patio door? I'm thinking of requesting a ground floor room for my upcoming November trip.
There is no way to lock the patio door from the outside but for a quick walk to the fireworks its fine. We had four patios in a row (our family took up four rooms) and it was so convenient to adjoin from outside patios.

No freezer section. Hope you feel better quickly!

Ok, back to report on all the good from our vacation. Our trip home ruined my day, but definitely not the great time we had.

We were in a 2-bedroom villa, room 254. It is in the bend looking out at the Villa Pool. We had a balcony that stretched across the three rooms and at the end (middle of the bend), it was about 10 feet deep. We had 7 chairs out there and 3 tables. It was great. The room itself had extra space in the kids' room because of the bend as well. This room also had a bit of a different configuration than other 2-bedroom villas. Instead of when you walk in being able to go to either bedroom, the entrance to the kids' bedroom was through the living room. I have no idea how to resize my pictures to make them small enough to post, but I can email them if someone else wants to post them. Sorry!

Special moments...

My daughter's 9th birthday. If you remember, she doesn't like store-bought cake and I was trying to figure out how to bake her one. Well, I did it! She got a home-baked (from a box) cake! I brought everything down with me and just bought eggs and oil from the Marketplace. Score one for Mommy! That night we went to Biergarten for dinner - her choice. The band didn't mention her name when they sang happy birthday which bummed us all out as we had made note of it on the reservation and again when we arrived for our ADR. No matter, the waitress brought her a card written and signed in German wishing her a happy birthday. This was MUCH better in her opinion - she brought it into school today to show it off. We walked out of the restaurant 5 minutes before Illuminations was going to start and found an empty bench right in front of Germany. Besides that good luck, we got to watch Wishes in the distance. Super special! We had no idea that you could see both shows at the same time.

My son (6, almost 7) lost his first tooth in China! We were starting to think he'd never lose a tooth, so it was quite a surprise when 2 suddenly became loose on our trip. He must have been wiggling them, because all of sudden as we were entering the pavilion, he jumps up and down all excited. Twenty minutes later, he pulled out his second. Luckily the Tooth Fairy found him in the BCV.

Meeting the princesses. Last trip we met most of the princesses at breakfast at Akershus and didn't spend much time waiting in lines to see them again. Well, I can now say that meeting them outside of the restaurant was so different. They were really interactive and made my children so happy. One afternoon, walking back to the resort, Rapunzel just happened to be near the bridge near France/UK. She doesn't normally meet in EPCOT. So, we got in line. When my kids got up there, she was great with them. My son told her that his one sister was his twin and she went on and on telling them how they reminded her of Flynn and Maximus. Then, she told him he should buy a satchel in his favorite color (orange). She was great, but my absolute favorite was Merida. I wanted to meet her because I knew my oldest daughter would love shooting the arrow at her meet and greet. Well, she was hysterical. She hid from my son, told my daughter how her mother always brings her down with all of her rules, and then kissed my son because he was a brave warrior (one of my best pictures of the week!). Then, when my kids asked her questions about her brothers, she told them their names (three Scottish names that she said very quickly and I can't remember!) and about how they sometimes sneak around and eat little cakes to turn into bears and play games. Then, in the parade later in the week, she smiled and pointed at my kids recognizing them. We also met Pocahontas - who people are always telling me that I look like. She was a bit more reserved, but when my husband made me get a picture with her, she told me that I was as wise as Grandmother Willow and thanked me for introducing her to my tribe. It was a lot of fun talking to them all! (We also met Elsa, Anna, and Snow White)

Star Tours - My 6 year old daughter was the one picked to be shown as the Spy. She LOVED that. She kept telling the whole room that she wasn't a spy.

September is a great time to go if you can handle the heat. We had very little rain - which was a change from 2 year ago. Of our 10 days, we only needed our ponchos during 3 of them. Between our long stay - 10 days - and the low crowds, we didn't rush at all. We had plenty of time to do everything we wanted and some things twice. We tried a few restaurants new to us - Captain's Grille, Biergarten, Coral Reef, Via Napoli, Rose & Crown - as well as did Blizzard Beach and Fantasia Mini Golf for the first time with the kids.

Any questions? Hit me up.

Thanks for posting your trip report. It was really great to find out that your trip was full of memorable occasions. I have a feeling that it will be fun to relive this trip. :)

Your villa sounds great. You got really lucky with that large balcony. It must have been fun to have all that extra space.

I knew you could do it. ;) I made a birthday cake for sister when we stayed at OKW. It was kind of fun, actually, to make the cake and have the party there.

Those meet and greets sounds like a lot of fun. Merida really put a lot of creativity into hers, didn't she? Our granddaughter had a wonderful meet and greet with Snow White. I will be forever grateful to that character for how nice she was to her.

That was lucky. We were there the end of August and had very little rain, too. I'm glad for that. :)

So, general consensus is that if you have a room request, DO NOT do the online check in? Its tempting to just be able to go straight from the ME to our room, but I really, really, really want a full balcony to sit out on and drink my coffee in the morning. That, and to silently sit and drink wine when I need to escape Dr. Jekyll, when he inevitably becomes too Hyde like.
