Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I know this has been discussed numerous times, but I wish they would enforce no putting towels on the good seats and coming back 4 hours later. Doubt that will ever happen.
If I don’t see shoes/flip flops or something else at the chairs, fair game IMO. DCL is really bad about the chair hogs. At least the “supposedly” have the no saving seats rule.

Enjoyed a nice evening visit to YC the other day, the tree in the lobby is quite lovely and the whole resort looked very festive. We ate at Yachtsman, oddly my first time there. I thought the food and service was quite good, other than perhaps the steaks being a little on the small side. We’ll go here more often in the future, I suspect. Good service and a welcoming vibe is always a good recipe for us.

I will say I do not care for whatever lobby scent they are using for the holidays. It’s different than the normal scent and is quite strong/musky. Not my favorite.

They also have the lobby lighting down very low at night, maybe for the tree or maybe it’s just always like that and I haven’t noticed. If you really want to see the train setup and all of the detail go during the day as it was a little hard to see at night.

As always, YMMV!

I was at the Yacht Club a few weeks ago for the first time in quite a while. Even in the middle of the afternoon I couldn't believe how dark and gloomy the lobby felt. This was before the Holiday decor was put up. I really don't think it used to be so dark. Pre-2020 we stayed at Yacht Club often in December when the tree and decorations were up. All of our photos show a cheerfully lit space.

Happy Holidays everyone!

I tried searching this thread to see if I could find an answer to my question below but didn’t find it so a friendly DIS member suggested I ask here.

We will be at the BCV on Christmas in a studio and would like to watch the Steelers and Chiefs football game that day on Netflix. We have a Netflix account but I wanted to know if the TVs in the BCV are smart tvs with the Netflix icon on them or not. Thank you for any and all info!

I can’t remember if they actually have the nextflix app on them, but I do know the tvs have chromecast, so if you have the app on your phone you can set it up to stream it to the TV.

I couldn't even figure out how to use the remote control to change channels on the BCV TVs in September. I had to post here asking for help. See photo. I did not make a note of any info about the TV itself.

Pretty sure there is no Netflix app on the TV's. May need to take your ROKU or FIRE STICK with you. Or you can try to get it on in the Solarium in the BC!

No Netflix on the Smart TVs but you are able to use your own Smartphones, tablets and laptops that support streaming to the TV. Only content from Chromecast-enabled apps (mirroring is not supported) can be sent to the TV.

Thank you everyone for the very helpful info - even a tv remote diagram! We will have our phones and ipads with us so we will make sure to have the Netflix app loaded so we can hopefully project to the TV. Looking forward to the remainder of the football season and our holiday trip to the BC!! Only 20 more days to go 😁

Thanks again everyone!

Just did a single night in a studio at BCV and had an odd question. Is it standard to have no full length mirror in the studios? I’ve never encountered a hotel room without one before and it totally shocked me! All of the mirrors in the room were unusually high, I could have walked out in my pajama bottoms and never realized! (And if anyone knows…are there any other Disney studios that also do not have full length mirrors?)

Just a reminder that Netflix no longer supports AirPlay or Screen Mirroring. It is Casting only. Both device need to be on the same Wi-Fi network.

Does anyone know if rooms 5657 and 5659 at Beach Club are considered resort view? Touring plans has them as resort view. hey are located above the back entrance and are looking at the lagoon but you can't see the lagoon because of the trees.

Do these rooms have 2 queen beds and a sofa bed? or 1 king with a sofa bed?

I know that room 5631 is handicap (for mom) same questions: 2 queens or 1 king with a sofa bed? Resort view?

thank you

Does anyone know whether you can purchase a case of water at either YC or BC or even over at BWI and if you can, how much do they charge now? Same question for beer (and wine if you know the cost per bottle lol). We usually rent a car for the drive from MCO to theYC and stop for supplies, but this trip we are going straight to the resort. TIA for any info!

If you want a case of something like water, I'd probably do grocery delivery; I've had decent luck with Instacart. They do sell six packs of a very small beer selection and a few wines. It's super expensive, though, IIRC.

Just checking in to see if anyone knows or might inquire as to when Stormalong bay will close to start the refurb. The WDW website just says January. If anyone is asking, would you be kind enough to inquire about Hurricane Hannah's and if that will remain open. If not, will they have any food or beverage offerings at the other pools and if they will be moving more chairs to the other pools to accommodate the influx of guests. TIA
