Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I was at the Yacht Club a few weeks ago for the first time in quite a while. Even in the middle of the afternoon I couldn't believe how dark and gloomy the lobby felt. This was before the Holiday decor was put up. I really don't think it used to be so dark. Pre-2020 we stayed at Yacht Club often in December when the tree and decorations were up. All of our photos show a cheerfully lit space.
Ha, see, I really like it! Kind of moody and chill, nice contrast to the rest of the WDW experience.

So many pictures are just red Xs, so search didn't help much. Does anyone have a picture of the daybed opened?

How has the resort pin trading been lately? Heading down in January; it will be my first time staying at BC in years. I am attending a conference, so I have no idea what kind of room to expect as there was just one rate. I have only stayed in BCV villas previously. Such a bummer about the pool, but hopefully the weather is nice and the pin trading is decent (not all fake ones). :)

Wasn't too impressed with pins on boards-seems that the same pins were everywhere. The Market at Ale and Compass had a big Mickey head board for trading, and there's a small one on the gift shop side of Beach Club Marketplace.

Hi, been out of the WDW and disboards universe since before Covid, now planning a last minute MLK weekend trip to celebrate our twins’ 21 birthday. Never stayed at BC or YC, so any advice as between BC CL resort view vs YC WV/RV in mid January 2025. I know about SAB work and YC room refurbs, so had been leaning BC, but like the idea of having a YC balcony while waiting for kids in bathroom 🙃

Anyway, thanks for any advice! 🙏

I think you would have a better chance at getting the sofa sleeper in a Yacht Club CL room than in a Beach Club CL room. Many of the BC CL resort view rooms have the dormer balcony and are too small for the sofa bed. Of course, you didn't ask about the sofa sleeper, but it could be nice to have. :)

Just a point to clarify, the OP doesn't have a choice of YC CL as that floor will be closed for renos during her stay. She is asking about YC RV/WV which are the available room types. I do agree, however, that if a sofa bed is of importance, YC is the way to go.

RE OP's question, other YC advantages include a sliding door to close off the vanity area for privacy, a shower with a handheld wand, and of course the aformentioned full balcony and sofa. Also of note, I think the QS at YC is better, YC is usually the first pick-up when sharing a bus with BC, and it's closer to the boat launch. Generally speaking, I prefer the more adult, quiet lobby at YC that doesn't become so chaotic with people visiting like BC having Cape May right there.

Question really becomes are you looking for a CL experience or just the better room(IMO)? BC will give you that experience and it's closer to EP IG. With FotArts, you will have lots of fun eats in addition to the regular WS dining so CL may not be worth the $$.

We are actually staying at YC RV 1/20-1/25 so maybe we will cross paths.

I didn't catch that distinction - thanks. :)

I agree with you about the YC rooms and the handheld shower wand. I like the rooms much better at the YC. I was really disappointed when the BC did not upgrade the shower head when they did the most recent room refresh.

But I like BC Marketplace better than the one at the YC. :)

I like YC more than BC also, for all the same reasons everyone else has already posted, but also, because it's more centrally located between HS and Epcot... and if you want to take the boat, the YC/BC docks at YC.

BC is "prettier" with all the pastels in lobby, but YC has more options for QS and TS... also a lounge and take out - not sure if BC does that.

Beach Club has Martha's Vineyard, an often-forgotten lounge that is usually empty. :)
It's fine and, as you said, often empty. The cast members are great. But UGH, Disney could make it so much better. Makes me a little sad each time I walk by. But then we probably couldn't get in. 🤷‍♀️

Many thanks for folks’ thoughtful replies to my question a few days ago! I moved us to the YC WV and am grateful for your help! Now on with the planning!!

Do we know, are YC rooms still scheduled for a refurb any day now?

I too am curious if they have closed down the top floor and started refurbs. Also looking to see if SAB has been closed as well. I was "assuming" it would start yesterday or today for both given holiday ressies should have checked out.

Anyone there who can spy any closures at the hotel and/or around the pool?

January 11 the club level floor will be closing, according to a friend of mine who works on that floor.
