Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Nothing more than a "I paid off the trip" post. Not that the trip didn't already feel real, but it feels VERY real now. Just a little over 1 month to go.

Thank you again to everyone in this thread that has been super helpful in planning. I look forward to socially distancing around y'all at the resort.

Yea! We arrive on the 18th for a long weekend. I am only now starting to believe it will happen. We cancelled 3 (maybe 4, I lost count, lol) trips last year. But now DH is retired, we’re both vaccinated & quarantine rules are relaxed if vaccinated. So it seems to be a go! Enjoy your trip!! :goodvibes

Was able to stay in an awesome YC room last September. Can't wait to go back to BC from 6/1 - 5! It was a little less expensive with the AP discount, so even though I love YC's decor & location, I'm super excited to be back at the resort in general. We're usually at BWV so it'll be fun to see things from across the lake!

Anyone know why the pool deck was at capacity several times last week? All chairs taken. You could get in to swim but had to wait outside for a chair to free up. Maybe less people are going to the parks and just staying at the resort? It's going to be real crowded when the Beach Club opens.

A few factors and I think your question addresses one of them. More people are doing resort only stays/days. Also, capacity is purposely limited with how they set up the chairs. And finally, I think last week or at least a few days were unseasonably warm. I have no concrete reason why but thought I would throw out some possible factors.

We experienced some brief capacity closures awhile back over Labor Day weekend. I can easily see how it may be happening with more frequency given crowd reports the last couple of weeks mixed with the very warm weather.

I also think the no nighttime entertainment, restaurants being harder to get into, hoping modifications, and perhaps the pool just about the only mask-free place to be have totally jumbled up pool trends these days. I don't mean that in a bad way, I just think people are utilizing the pools at different times/ways than they maybe did before, so there are subtle differences.

BTW - I also could easily see how this could become a trend across the resorts as we transition into what could likely be a period of higher consumer confidence in travel.

I don't mean this to be a negative comment, but Disney has "gotten by" with things mostly functioning well from a guest perspective so far with distancing, capacity restrictions, etc. But if you dial up the resort occupancy, things are going to start getting stretched.... transportation... quick service mobile ordering... pools.

We've had some brief periods of higher crowds so far... what happens as more and more return to travel and places like WDW start attracting more guests?

Again, not being negative - and maybe I'm way wrong - just think it will be fascinating to watch as it all evolves.

It makes sense that its the limited options for entertainment that is causing the pools to be crowded. Disney needs to open more attractions and increase park hours at a faster rate. This would spread the crowds out more.

The boat to Hollywood Studios started running at 8am for the park opening at 9am this morning

The concrete is torn out around the big planter in front of the Beach Club lobby doors on the lake side. It looks like they are replacing it. Stay tuned for further construction updates later. :)
I am torn about my HS rope drop plan. For a 9am opening should I walk over around 7:45am or take the 8am (ish) boat? I read a post of a visitor saying they took a boat at 8am and they used a side entrance by the dock and passed everyone else in line for temperature check. 🤷‍♂️

Guests arriving via Friendship don't bypass Temp check. They just have their own area on that side. The walking path arrives at DHS at the Resort bus terminal area and so guests use the primary Temp check area.

Some days one side will be ready a few moments before the other but it varies often.

The final decision is yours. Walking gives you more individual control vs waiting for a boat to make the stops on the way to DHS.

The concept is similar to selecting the walking paths from GF and CR to the MK vs the Monorail route.

After lots of thinking, having a balcony is a priority to us so I’m trying to change our reservation from BC to YC (have to do it by phone) the wait is 90 minutes. Is the wait this long because of reduced cast members?
ugh.

You may have reasons for needing to make the change by phone, but I was pleasantly surprised the other day to find changing hotels is now a change you can make online. I changed from BC to YC too, for the certainty of a balcony too. My reservation is next January.

Military discounted rooms can only be booked and modified by phone.

You can easily change your reservation online. I made changes via the website multiple times including changing resort and dates for our Christmas trip we just did. I’ve done this for a long time, and unless you had some super special deal (like my free trip to YC this next weekend) I would recommend just doing it online. Go to your plans, find the resort room reservation, and click to change reservation. You can look for different discounts when offered, change room type, change resort entirely, and change the date easily.

I have such mixed feelings about my potential trip in June. I feel like I keep coming to terms with, and adjusting to, various reduced offerings and inconveniences only to have more negative factors come into play. We booked a deluxe because with the ridiculously reduced hours we figured we would make lemonade and spend more time at the resort. I will be so pissed if we find ourselves standing outside the gate waiting for a spot to open up.
