Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Jlundeen, you are correct. Doesn't matter if someone has already booked or not. Discount will not be applied unless the room is available at the time of calling.

Ocalla, I agree with your crappy theory. ;) Makes perfect sense as to why discount is limited to so few rooms.

Yes, it's certainly complicated and they make the discounts on a variety of factors, but the likelihood of a nearly full resort having a good discount offer is low.

For our reservations, including this most recent one, I book what I want initially - in this case, Beach Club deluxe room with park tickets. The Summer Room Only discount came out a couple of months later and I called first thing to see if it would work for me. Amazingly, it did (I say amazingly because there are so few deluxe rooms). While, it "felt" like the disney CM just applied the discount to my existing room (leaving the reservation number the same), I'm sure it's more complicated than that. Other years, I haven't been able to stay in the same room type because there was no availability - but the discount made a more expensive room category end up being cheaper than my original booking, so I gladly switched.

I was just talking to my Magical friend today to inquire if the Fall discounts could save us any money. When I take my Vacations and Travel I like to save as much money as possible but it seems as though lately Disney is offering very limited inventory when they announce these discounts. The amount of rooms that were released in conjunction with Free dining was laughable in it's paucity.

So in light of the disappearing room discounts the best strategy may be to book A BOUNCEBACK rate or try to get a magical rate.

The release today was disappointing. I'm guessing once the AP rates come out they'll be just as bad. :/

I'm kind of laughing at Disney reducing the discount availability on it's rooms as I think that the increase in park attendance that they are looking for might not fully be realized. The oil producing countries in South America are experiencing a recession due to all the cheap oil that is flooding the market and there are empirical observations that the parks are not as crowded this summer as one would expect. With all the construction at Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios down to half a day park there is not a lot to induce people to spend $$$$ WAY TOO MUCH money on a Disney Parks vacation, especially since the Frozen ship has sailed off into the sunset. Fear not Frozen Fiends as Disney will be kicking that horse long after it is dead. I just hope Idina Menzel holds out for the buckets of money she deserves for her outstanding vocal performance on that film.

NM: I always forget about the BB when I'm there. I will have to remember that this trip!!!

And I think you have a point with your above post!!!!

Erika: I think the AP discount will send many holders to the bar for a nice drink!!!

The most obvious difference between a croc and a gator is apparently

  • The fourth tooth of a crocodile sticks out when its mouth is closed.

Good luck to anyone getting close enough to check this out.
I designed a mascot for my school (as the art teacher I get lots of those kind of duties). We are the gators, and I worked very hard on getting it perfectly fierce, only to have our science teacher point out that gators don't have teeth that point up, only down. So I drew a croc. Ha ha, oh well. I fixed it, of course.

Alligator update! I asked the guides on our Wild Africa Trek. It would be a 'gator. When we got back it swam over to below where we were standing and climbed up on the grass. Guess we have a friend...

And for some reason my ticker for Beach Club has a new date that I wish was really correct!

Awhile back there was a report of a giant alligator swimming around in a large pond near my home. It caused quite the sensation in the local papers and the sightings, all unconfirmed, seem to multiply as the days went by. Pretty soon the police and wildlife officials were dispatched on a fruitless search for this suburban beast.

It became quite the disappointment when, much like the Loch Ness monster, no reliable confirmation of it's existence was ever confirmed. Finally someone (not me!) had enough and tossed this thing into the pond so as not to disappoint all the neighborhood busybodies who were on "Gator watch" .

I'd be tempted to haul one of these things down to the Beach Club Villas and throw it in the pond just to see what the real alligator would think.

PS, This is coming from a woman who ties fishing line to my dog's stuffed squirrel toy and dangles this squirrel toy out a second story window so the dog sees it dancing in front of the sliding glass door. He goes nuts at this sight and barks his head off. Right as the person downstairs opens the door, the toy squirrel mysteriously flies up in the air and on to the roof, out of the grasp of they dog's gnashing fangs.

A little bummed .. according to theDibb all A&E fast passes are gone for my entire week except for our last full day :( I'm able to make our fast passes at midnight so hopefully something will still be available. Since we weren't planning on the MK our last night my plan will be to jump over to the MK to see them then leave. How long do you think it will take to leave the BC club, go see A&E then head back to the BC? 2-3 hours?

With all the discount kerfuffle, I'm so happy I booked a BB in April for our Sep/Oct trip. We got a great deal. Time will tell if this stingy strategy works for Disney or not.

Sad day. My two girls go home today. Lily told me this morning when she climbed into bed with me that I shouldn't be sad. She'll be back at Christmas and we can go to Magic Kingdom and eat at the Beast's Castle and then we can eat with Donald at Animal Kingdom and then we can eat with Cinderella and Prince Charming and can we please eat with Mandy and Doc at Hollywood Studios? That kid thinks Disney 24/7 ... I'm so happy I was able to get BOG ... now I have to work on the other ones she wants.

Poor Bob won't see them again until Christmas but I'll be flying out there on August 18th so it won't be too bad for me. And then I'll be out there for Halloween too. Lily is going as Snow White, Jeanne as the evil queen and the rest of us will have t-shirts with the dwarfs' names on them. I claimed Happy.

LIVE REPORT!!!!

Good morning from the comfort of my BC bed. My husband is snoring so loudly you can probably hear him wherever you are!

We spent thirteen hours at MK on Sunday. It wasn't crazy crowded but I also believe MK is less crowded on weekends and more crowded on Mondays. We were able to do all of the biggies via FP. One thing I've noticed on FP is that twice our FP's have turned into "choice of experience" FP's without any email notifications like in the past. Something must have happened at the beginning of our 3:35 BTMRR FP because when I checked MDE for our exact time, it was a "choice of experience" that included a choice of many rides and were good until midnight. It was so hot that my son and husband chose Splash while the girls and I chose BTMRR. And it happened again yesterday for Epcot. The ride must have been down at some point so they made the change. Interesting....

My husband and I took the new World Showcasr DestiNations tour yesterday. It was neat to learn all about each pavilion. It was five hours and included lunch at Restaurant Marakkesh. We had never dined there before and really enjoyed our couscous and baklava. We were the only two people on the tour so we felt like VIP's walking around with our own "plaid person"! It was very detailed and more info than I wanted in some points but overall I really enjoyed it. So did my husband. We went backstage a little but most of it was onstage. Our guide Julie was great! I highly recommend it if you love World Showcase.

After our tour I had the glamorous job of doing laundry. Fun! I wish I had four washers at home since I was done super quick! Someone got in the elevator with us as we were dragging our dirty goods to the laundry room and gave us a quizzical look. So I said we are doing laundry. He said he had spent $145 doing laundry. I asked him if he ruined something because this was only going to cost us $20. He said no. He had the resort do his family's laundry and that he didn't know you could do your own. It was my turn to look at him like he was CRAZY!

Teena and I had fabulous visits on Sunday and Monday! She's such a gem!

Today will be spent at SAB then we will vote as to where to go later. Maybe a park? Maybe to DTD? Who knows!

Ocalla, I took a pic of the wines but haven't found the protein drinks. All I saw was Monster energy drink. But I'll check again.

Have a Magical Tuesday everyone!

Took advantage of the Fall "Discount" to book YC for Dec. 4-6th. Will wait to see what AP discount looks like, but I am not counting on it being any better.

Looking forward to a fun-filled, whirlwind weekend!

So want to see the Halloween pictures! So Lily LOVES all things Disney - now where could she inherited that gene from?

Catho- we were "that guy with the laundry"! Our first trip to the GF we had no ide there was a small laundry room off the lobby. Also I seriously under estimated the amount of clothes the kids would go through. Long story short ended up spending I er $200 in laundry. DH said the same thing that it would be cheaper to buy new ones. At least he said that til I bought the kids new socks and underwear in gift shop and spent $80 on just that! Learned quickly after that trip to overpack and find the laundry room!

Hi, I changed from standard view to lagoon/pool view at the Beach club with the new fall offer. Only 15% off, Ugh... Now I'm kicking myself that I didn't stick with the standard view because I had to pay $195 more for the sale priced lagoon/pool view. I sort of panicked on the phone. I can't go back now, because when I originally booked it was last year ticket prices and any rebooking will be this years park ticket prices. Oh well, hopefully we will enjoy the view.

Can I please be added to Be Our Guest List at the Beach Club for 11/29-12/4/15? This is our families first trip to Disney World!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:woohoo:

Starting to plan a Disneymoon for early July 2016. Was thinking of going to the Beach Club Villas, but will most likely be picking a standard Beach Club room since I'll be guaranteed a renovated room.

I'm hoping to book soon and then apply a discount when they get announced around March. Does anyone have any experience in doing this and how successful I might be?

:welcome: to this thread and posting on the DIS!

I'll pencil you in on the Be Our Guest list- no worries if you decide to change.

Lots of opinions about booking and waiting for a discount. My advice is to get something booked and hope you are able to switch to a discount. I have been booking room only lately, skipping the dining plan and getting the tickets through Undercover Tourist.

:goodvibes:

I'm going to do online checkin for our upcoming stay...we have a standard view booked. If I request upper floor will that be more likely a refurbished room? I am thinking we should get a day bed with our family of 5, but should I request it at checkin too??

Most of the rooms at the Beach Club have been renovated at this point (all rooms on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors). First floor rooms are being done now. So yes, an upper floor room request is the best bet for a refurbished room. Are all of the kids over the age of 3. Then I don't think it matters if you request a daybed or not- you should get priority for a room with one if it is available- but it couldn't hurt either.

:)

I guess my advice would be to book something as soon as you can but book something you know you would be happy having with or without a discount. So just make sure you get something booked so you know you have something.

This!

::yes::

Well, folks, it looks like my dream of Beach Club for our 40th Anniversary trip has been altered...For the same cost for us to stay at BC GV, we are switching to Club Level at Boardwalk. I know, I know, I'm a traitor!!! But we've never stayed Club Level, and there was no availability at BC for any of the discounts! So, this will give us a chance to try another resort, but you can bet we'll be back in the future!! And I'm hoping that we NEVER have to look at that Clown pool while we are there!

Hope everyone has a wonderful upcoming trip! It has been really fun chatting with all of you, and I hope to join in on future discussions!:)

Totally understandable! Club Level at Boardwalk should be great.

I'll make the change to the Be Our Guest list.

Please stick around and hang out with us- we have enjoyed having you around!

:thumbsup2

Just finalized the our annual Halloween/F&W trip. 10/30-11/2 BCV Can't wait to come back home. Hope the construction isn't too bad.

I have you on the list for earlier in October, so I will make the change.

:)

My daughter and I are staying at the Beach Club Oct 9-13. DD has a short break from college so it really is the only time we can go. I was able to save $214 today with the new promotion and that was going from a standard room to a garden view. Not a whole lot but better than a sharp stick in the eye!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

:cool1:

If you are looking for a room only book that. If you are looking for a package with tickets book that. When the room discounts come out you can then apply them to the package.

:welcome: to this thread and thanks for your input.

:goodvibes

And for some reason my ticker for Beach Club has a new date that I wish was really correct!

Thanks for your gator reports! Love them!

After your trip, the ticker assumes that you still have a trip, a year from the date of the original trip on your ticker. You have to take it out of your signature to get rid of that. Or better yet, replace it with a new ticker.

:cheer2:

LIVE REPORT!!!! *snip*

Thanks for giving us a rundown of your packed MK day, the WS tour and your laundry escapades.

36 more days until WDW and 41 more days until we check into the BC!

About laundry.......we always do laundry on our rest day on our own. In the past we've stayed at CBR and the laundry facilities are right next to the pool. Easy enough. I plan on doing laundry at Poly on our rest day which is the day before we check into the BC. Then maybe doing laundry at the BC the day before we leave or just going home with dirty laundry.

Teena- I live in South Jersey, about 5 minutes from Philadelphia. I arrive 8/31 to the BC if you would like any tasty cakes. :) You have been so helpful with information and I would love to pay it forward.

If yoy were doing a resort day which is the better place to eat dinner , the Captains Grill or Cape May Cafe? What else would you do for that day? Do you head too the other resorts close by to do stuff?

For our BC "resort day" we've decided to do Blizzard Beach since we have a free WP day on our tickets through our TA. We will then have dinner at Yachtsman. Hoping to catch some entertainment on the boardwalk after.

For our Poly resort day we are sleeping in and hanging by the pool all day. We will then have dinner at Cali Grill, just as a date night. The kids will hang in the room or do movies on the beach. DS15 can babysit DD9.

My boyfriend would love Cape May but he's the only one that eats seafood so it would be a waste of money for us. :(
