Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Have a question, hope I'm not bombarded with this one, you all seem so sweet I'll try you first. We were able to do our FP+ 2 1/2 weeks ago. We started with the last day to get E & A. When we looked it was available, but when finished it did not show up, so we moved to another day, which we got. Now two weeks later, the FP+ shows up on the first day also, we don't want two. I know a few pages back there where two people looking for 9/9, this is for 9/8.

So question
1) can I try to set it up with someone, like you do with dining?
2) do I just wait till we get there at cl and tell them to change it, then they can give it to someone looking?
3) or just drop it, does it show back up in system for someone else?
I have successfully transferred FPs before, works just like dining. It gets released right into the system immediately. As tarak mentioned, there used to be an A&E cancellation board, but not sure if they still do those? If not, I'd drop it before you go so that you can schedule something else for yourself. And make the day of someone else who's searching :)

Out of the blue night before last availability opened up in the same room category as our package at YC, so I moved us over and we are now staying at YC for our entire trip 11/7-13. (Dee when you get a chance could you update me on the BOG list pretty please?) I'm a tiny bit sad about missing out on AKL (and club level!) but my husband kept rolling his eyes at the idea of a split stay and really wasn't enthusiastic about the idea of club level, and when I looked at the meals we have booked (they're almost all character buffets, and were all requested by someone in the family) it really doesn't make sense to move up to club level this trip so we'll stick with our free dining package. So for anyone who's keeping track this trip has gone from a solo 3-night trip at POFQ to a family 5-night trip at POR, then to WL, then to YC, then AKL/YC, to 6 nights at YC. I have problems lol!

What about heading over to boardwalk before you leave and stocking up on sandwiches and desserts? Way better than airport food or fast food. You could bring a few soft insulated bags from home to stuff it all in. ;)

Great idea!! We will definitely do that. We have a full departure day so I've been keeping that option in the back of my mind especially with conversion available for 3 snacks for a QS meal credit....I was thinking B W bakery for departure day brunch, or les Halles. I feel like my kids could probably share one quick service meal a lot of the time!!

We stayed at the Villas at WL in May. The resort is spectacular. The more you walk around the more you find. The lobby of the villas is quite stunning (not as stunning as the main lodge). It is definitely beautiful there.

If you want an adventure, eat at Whispering Canyon Cafe. Ask for ketchup, refills on your drink and where you can buy gum. You should have some fun from that.

OK, I spit my coffee out on this one!!! I laughed....but then I was sad too. I didn't know this happened?? Or has it always been this way that I've known you??? No wonder it's been just you and the boys in the pics lately?

I think I mentioned it in my Christmas trip report last year, that was right after things were finalized legally. A rough, rough Christmas for all of us. But things are much better now. The past year was really tough. But I feel like the kids and I have rebounded and found a rhythm. I'm working full time now after being a SAHM for 15 years, but Disney is still our happy place. :)

LOL, we switched from the Poly to WL because I was worried about the construction. Based on what I'm seeing from Tikiman's FB page, I made the right call. From the folks who are getting the "cherry picker view," to the people whose patios have been locked by the resort and made inaccessible so they can move in the equipment to dismantle the quiet pool, I'd say the Poly might not be the most relaxing place if you like to spend time at the resort. I still have a 10 am ADR for 'Ohana, so I'll be sure to check out the resort and see how things look while we're there.

30 days before we start our trip. We're staying at a Marriot by BWI the night before we fly. We can park the car there for up to 14 days free-of-charge, and they have a free Shuttle that runs to the airport. I'm still debating canceling the Marriot stay. We still have to get up at the crack of dawn to leave for our flight and I'd rather be in my own bed. On the other hand, I'm using hotel points from my credit card for the stay, so it's not costing me anything. Amara seems to think we'll be doing some sightseeing while we're there. At the BWI Marriot? Not likely.
For my kids, just staying in any hotel is cool. So why not, and avoid traffic too? BONUS

Last year, we were at Poly CL, we were upgraded to LV CL upon booking...which tipped me off. I spoke with a reservation manager or some title like that she was amazing. And she basically said it will be a mess there. So after A LOT of changing (WL, BC, YC, WL, finally OKW), we decided to stay there next trip. Well, I did initially book Poly CL for this year but got cold feet, and changed to BC :) I'm super happy, mostly thanks to the peeps here. More than that, my hubs and kids want BC, and when my hubs wants a Disney resort I gotta give it to "Grumpy".

DH and I are staying at the BC for the first time this August and I'm super excited! We booked a standard view room, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about room requests for this category.

Online check in offers choices of full balcony, lower/higher floors, or near elevator. I'm not sure if any of these requests make a big difference in terms of the standard rooms. Is there anything anyone would suggest as a request, or should I request nothing and leave it up to chance?

We aren't going with any specific expectations and we'll be happy with just about anything. Thought it wouldn't hurt to ask if anyone had suggestions before I complete online check in.

Thanks! I have been loving this thread!

In 2 weeks I'll be sitting at SAB... Ahhhh. We are there for 14 days (yippee) and I still don't feel like it is enough time. @Teena I hear you like Tastycakes? Which ones? I'll see if I can sneak a box past the kids into my bag!

Chocolate ...any type of chocolate .... That is so sweet of you!!!

14 days is super!!! I hope you are planning lots of SAB time. Its so very hot and humid. With 14 days, you can do parks early mornings or evenings to avoid that heat stroke weather!

Looks good! Less than a month 'til we get to WDW (CR...then BC beginning on the 19th)!

@catho72 And I can't believe we are missing each other by ONE DAY!!!!!!!

And I'm missing Dee, NinjaMom etc...by a mere 2 or 3 days. It's a real bummer! I do think I will get to see Robyn though and of course Teena!

You are making me even MORE excited if that is even possible!!!! :D :D :D :D

Plus look what I just got in email:

If y'all could....would you keep my family in your prayers? My poor sister just got engaged at WL 2 weeks ago, and now we find out that a wee dizzy spell my father had on Sunday night has brought him to triple bypass and valve replacement surgery on Monday morning. My head is spinning. I'm having (for the first time) that uncomfortable, scary feeling that my parents are entering a place where I will need to step up and take care of them now. Sigh..

LIVE REPORT!!!!

I'm sitting at SAB while typing this. We've been here since 9:15am and it's a gorgeous day. It rained (ok, it poured) earlier this morning around 10:30 but now it's sunny and beautiful! We again had lunch from HH (cheeseburgers, pulled pork and a chicken sandwich). Yummy as always!

Dinner at Cape May was delicious! The only thing we tried that we didn't care for were the pistachio carrots. Those were different. But the pistachio cheesecake was out of the world! Delicious! Our waitress was excellent. My daughter was wearing her birthday button and our waitress brought her a cupcake and a birthday card signed by the Fab Five. So sweet!

The club level offerings are pretty much the same as last year's with the addition of grits for breakfast. The lounge is so much more spacious than it was previously. The CM who walked is to the fifth floor after getting off ME told us it's the largest CL lounge on property. Cool! Wait! There is s new potato chip they have too. The old one is still there with the dip. YUMMY!!!!!

Tonight we are going to MGM. Yay!

I prefer close to lobby which means close to elevators but lots of people prefer far away from lobby and close to Epcot. I never use balcony so that doesn't matter to me. Your view will be a roof most likely which is what I would book too since the only time I'm in the room is to sleep, shower or change clothes. I'd rather save money and book standard and spend that extra money on a super dinner at Artist Point!

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear this about your Dad. Prayers are definitely on their way to you and your family!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1 of this thread.

:woohoo:

Full balcony, definitely.

Maybe upper floor. Not sure if work will still be going on in the Beach Club rooms in August, but they are going from the top down, and that would take you away from being near the work on the 2nd/1st floors. Plus, some of the Standard View rooms that look over the front entrance parking lot have a view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks and I would think the chance of seeing them would be better on a higher floor.

:thumbsup2

Me too :( But I also will see Teena, hopefully Tarak and you!! We are leaving for Universal on the 20th.

 Sorry to hear that, but I will say that outcomes are really good for open heart. I've watched the specialty improve over the last 18 years since I've been in nursing. It's a tough recovery, I'm glad they caught the issue and they'll be fixing him right up. PM me for anything you need!
