I haven't changed anything this week
Dee - you should take a tour of the WL in August. The best way to see it is to take the bus to MK and then get on the boat to WL. You really need to see the lodge from the water. The boat is one of the best things about staying at the WL. Tour the lobby and go up to the fourth floor, which is actually the first balcony level above the lobby. There are lovely sitting areas around the lobby on that level, including a very comfy area with a sofa and fireplace, a huge balcony over the front door - looking at the parking lot, another balcony overlooking the courtyard and Bay Lake, and some displays of artifacts. In fact, there are artifacts hanging around all over the place. Then head off to the villas building and check out the Carolina Pacific room. It has memorabilia from Walt Disney's home, including one of the little railroad cars from the train he had at his California home. That room has the comfiest leather rocking chairs ever and the most whimsical firescreen in all of WDW. DH and I like to lounge around there, and we've even played a few games of Chinese checkers.
Then you can walk down the nature trail to Fort Wilderness and visit the horse stables and just basically check it all out. You can either go back to MK via boat, or hop on an internal bus if you want to see a little more of the campground. It really is an interesting way to spend time when you don't have park tickets.
And you may want to see the Wilderness Lodge before they tear the place up. They are rebuilding my favorite villas pool and adding 24 little cabins along the edge of the lake. The construction work starts oct 26th.

The main building will be unchanged, thank goodness
That's a really interesting idea, especially since so much will be changing and I have never been over to the WL. Mark has always wanted to tour there as well but he won't be with me.
Not sure what my plans will be for the couple of days I am at Disney. I suspect one day of hanging at the resort/SAB and one day maybe going into EPCOT. If I get bored, or maybe if the weather is iffy, I could make the trek over there.
Hi there!! DD starts her DCP in August, so we are taking Autotrain with her car, staying at POFQ for a week so we can be available for shopping trips and moving in etc, then flying home. DH told me to add the weekend, since it is my birthday, so we decided to try the Yacht Club for two nights. We've always stayed at the Dolphin or POFQ, so we don't know what to expect at the Yacht Club. Any suggestions?
I'll add you to the Be Our Guest we keep on Page 1.
Speaking of Page 1- my suggestion to you to help get you familiar with the resort is to check out the first page of this thread, particularly Post 1 (intro), Post 2 and 3 if you want to read about the pool, Post 13 and 14, FAQ and Other Useful Info.
There is a lot of info and many pictures to help get you excited about the stay.

:
Reading all of the posts as we (DH and myself)are heading to the Beach Club 4/10-4/16 2016, can not wait. Got a taste of the area on our 2 night stay at Yacht Club in April this year. Loved the pool and the location.

to this forum and posting on the DIS.
I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.
I also know some were commenting on bus experiences so I thought I'd share our experiences so far. It's been nice to not have had to use them much
Magic Kingdom - Sunday evening around 5:30. Bus had just left when we got to the bus stop. Another one came within 10 minutes. 15 minute ride, no other stops, bus was fairly empty.
Return trip to BC- 10:15 pm - bus arrived as soon as we got to the MK depot. Stopped at YC and then BC.
Animal Kingdom - Tuesday around 9:30am. Bus went to BB and then to AK. Total trip was a little over 20 minutes and was about half full when it arrived from the YC. We waited almost 30 minutes for it to arrive.
Return trip - 2:00 pm - bus arrived within 10 minutes, stopped at BB on the way back, YC, then BC.
Thank you so much!!! Very helpful info!
That's actually a different door than the one we used. It's about 10 rooms past the original secret door!
See! Told ya my sense of direction sucks!
Narebenma, thanks for the warm welcome!
We do split trips when we visit DW, hence my board name. It's our 35th Anniversary, but since it falls on Thanksgiving this year we'll be coming down early to celebrate. Nov 8th-12th we're booked at the Yacht Club. Debating on whether to switch over to BC since I'm worried they may be renovating Yacht by then. Haven't heard much about YC so I'm holding off so far. Husband likes to sleep in a little on vacation and was annoyed when he couldn't do so during another resort renovation. Don't want a repeat of part time grumpy. lol Second resort we'll be staying is Contemporary. This is the first time we're staying in the BC/YC area. Everyone has me excited since they seem to like it so much and it looks beautiful.
Catho72 & SRUAimn have fantastic trips. SRUA, thank you for the photos you posted. Looks lovely!
Edit: Contemporary stay is Nov 12th-16th.
Just noticed there's only one T in my Splitter name. Oh well. Could be worse, could say Spitter. haha
Got it! Thanks for the clarification.
Take it from someone who has serious screen name regret... You just have a few posts and it is not too late to create a new account with the name you want. I had no idea that I would be as active as I am on the boards and it is now too late for me to change my main identity to BeachClubDee, as it should be!
I feel like as I get closer (63 days), I'm starting to forget the basics of what I need to do. Can someone remind me at what point I would put in room requests and what number I call to do so? I'm in a garden view room and am hoping for something near the secret entrance side. What's the best way to word that? Perhaps near the quiet pool? Thanks in advance!
You can call Disney's Central Reservtions Office any time after making your reservation to place any room requests. I usually make my request right away and then follow up about 10 days before the trip to make sure my request is still on record. Phone number is on Page 1 of the thread (either Post 13 or 14) or google it.
Try "EPCOT side of resort" or "Near BC quiet pool"
Any reason(s) to pay $100 more for a standard room @ BC over YC?
I don't think so.
When is your trip?
Rooms at BC are now (almost) all refurbished and although will be construction going on at the Yacht Club starting in the fall, I like to believe that the work will not be intrusive to guests.
Plus, all rooms at YC have full balconies while only about 50% of the rooms at the Beach Club do.
So I am going in December, and I have an offer for a very cheap room in the Yacht Club. Should I be worried about construction?
I'd love to know the same thing. Going in November.
From everything we are told, the resort does everything possible to limit disruptions to guests while the room renovations are going on. We didn't hear much about noise complaints early in the recent Beach Club renovations, but we have been starting to hear more reports lately that guests can hear some of the work going on at times.
As suggested, check the reports on Page 1 of this thread for the latest information.
