We are at the bar so not sure if the menu is different or not. I got the crab cake sandwich and it was fabulous. And the multi grain salad

Sounds great, i'm planning to go there as well this August! That's exactly what I would order as I love crab cakes. Sounds like you are having a great trip so far :-)

Wow, this is a first. Parking lot closed to all but guests today

Wow, that's unusual! Did you find out why?

PS, any word there about when Roaring Forks will open?

No I didn't ask why. The guard at the gate was being picky too. Car in front of us even had to turn around

Came back tonight and they still have the sign out that the lot is closed to all but guests. I didn't go look at the lot to see just how full it is. Maybe it's normal on the weekends?

We had the same experience at BC in 2014. I never thought to ask why.

We had our first stay at WL last August and absolutely loved it--construction and all! Now I'm trying to catch up on what's happened and changed since then. I've started reading through this thread, but there's just a TON of info! We're thinking of heading back again this August and wonder just how much is different!

When we stayed, one whole side of the main building was closed. The main elevators were closed. Roaring Forks was open, as was the pool bar. There were no campfires, no movies at night. Construction was on that one side of the main building plus the new buildings on the theme-park side of the resort.

So I'm trying to figure out what's different now--or will be different if we return this August!

Can anyone who's been recently give a brief summary maybe?

That sign was up when we were there last month. I don't know if it was a spring break thing or if they have had problems with people parking all day who don't belong there.

Right now there is still construction on the entire south wing and the main bank of elevators is still closed. The campfire and movies are back now. By the time you arrive in August they are supposed to have the south wing open, the main elevators back in service, Roaring Forks is closed right now but should be open, and hopefully the new pool will be open, too. They are building a roof over the patio outside of Roaring Forks and there is a "mystery building" next to the new pool that looks like it could be a Community Hall or maybe it will be for events or something. I've asked about it but the CM's seem to not have an answer as to what that building will be.

But I wouldn't be surprised to still see construction, mostly with the cabins and landscaping, etc. They might still have scaffolding up somewhere, too. But all in all, it should look great. :)

The south side wing of the main building (where they are converting the rooms into studio, 1, 2, and 3 bedroom DVC villas) as well as the lakeshore cabins they are building are all part of a new DVC property called Copper Creek Villas & Cabins. It is scheduled to open July 17, 2017. According to pictures they are at the point of putting landscaping around the outside of most of the cabins, so they are nearing completion now. The main elevators are part of that project so they are closed now but expected to open when the south wing opens in July.

The old "quiet pool" has been replaced with a new themed pool with zero entry. It is also expected to open by July 17.

There is a new QS+ restaurant called Geyser Point, near the main pool/at the lakefront. It is open already. It is open air. It has a QS location and rapid refill fountain drink station. It also has a bar and lounge area. Right now they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Roaring Forks is closed for refurbishment. In addition they are putting a cover over part of the patio area that used to hold tables and chairs outside of RF. It is not know what RF will be like after the refurbishment nor when it is scheduled to reopen (though by the same time as everything else would be logical).

Movies at night are now on a green space near Geyser Point. There is also a campfire "ring" near Geyser Point but I don;t know if they are actually using it for campfires yet.

So, pretty much everything should be open when you return in August. The only part up in the air will be Roaring Forks, but one would think it would open with the rest [er, that doesn't mean Disney Logic works that way...).

Thank you both so much for those quick and informative summaries!!!

One of the things we actually really liked about the construction last summer was that the resort was half empty! The construction itself never bothered us and having so few people sharing buses, at the pool, at the QS, etc. just made it seem so quiet and peaceful. I'm guessing we won't have that same feel if everything is now open when we go back. Still love the resort but now wondering just how busy those common areas get when everything's up and running!

Quick question - how fast do standard view rooms fill up at WL? We will be in WDW over MLK weekend in January. We really want to stay at WL but are waiting for the discounts to be released. I also have a dvc rental request for CCV in with Davids DVC, but several people have politely told me to not get my hopes up. I'm wondering if I should just call and make a room reservation now, of if I have time to wait until the discounts are released before I make a reservation?

We've stayed at the WL several times in January and we've never had a problem getting a discounted room when we wait for the discount to be released before booking it. But that was before half the WL turned into DVC units. I would guess that the brand new DVC units would book up fast. I really don't know know it will be for the standard view rooms.

We have a courtyard view booked for November and I called a few weeks ago to switch to a standard to save a few bucks and there were none available.

For those who have stayed at WL since the MK changed its security earlier this month - is there much of a difference, timeless, between getting through security from the bus vs. from the boat? I read on another thread that there are sometimes as many as 20 security lines open for the buses, and people breezed through, but I haven't read anything about the boats yet. But from the photos I saw, it looks like there is only 1 security line for everyone coming off the boat. Is that correct?

I've never had a problem. We just booked last minute for Memorial Day and there were rooms still available.

We will be there in two weeks! So excited! Does anyone know what the outdoor movie schedule is like? Is it every night or just a few times a week? What time does it usually start?

Also is territory lounge taking DDP since roaring forks is closed?

Thanks!

Since the Roaring Fork is closed does anyone know where you would go to refill the refillable mugs? Also is there anyplace that has a microwave for warming up bagels in the morning?
