Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Yes! Go to your reservation in MDE. Hit the change button.

Then see celebrations? Hit add button. Then next picture shows options. However this only shows up on new TVs and I am not sure if they got the new tv in the royal rooms? Anybody know?

Thanks, got that but also learned about the tvs in the room. Hoping there might be some fun other perks for having that on there.

Another question, trying to learn the lay of the land of the resort before getting there.

Since we are staying in one of the royal rooms. Does it make more sense to use the buses in the south depot (near the lobby), or the east depot?

Im assuming east depot is the last stop so buses will be more crowded, but wasnt sure if the south depot was the one everyone flocked to in the morning.

Check out the transportation page of the @andrewilley site all about the Port Orleans resorts. Very comprehensive info.

The incoming bus route is West > North > East > South. So early in the morning, as East is picked up earlier, there will be less people on the bus than at South. Which stop is closer to your room depends on the room location (the buildings are quite large) and you'll only know that once you get there.

We were in a River View room in building 90 (Oak Manor) last week and we mostly picked something up from the food court and aimed to get to the South Depot around 7am for early entry for MK/EP/Studios. We didn't end up standing once that I can remember. For returning, we mostly dropped off at East as we could walk back to the room quicker that way. If you are getting a bus a bit later when it's busiest (8:30am-10am) East might be better for you.

Actually. the theme park buses go West, North, East, South. So the East Depot will work best for you. If you really want great information on all things Port Orleans, I suggest that you go to PortOrleans.org (run by DIS moderator Andre Wiley). It is our go to website for all things Port Orleans

Many people go to the food court for breakfast and leave from the south depot. The park buses leave for the parks after picking up at the south depot. Make sure you take a resort map from the lobby when you find out your room number. We had a Royal room that was river view and very close to a bridge to the main lobby area. So, we never used the east depot. But you might be in a room that is close to the east depot. Location is everything. ;)

I have not looked at all this thread yet- wanted to ask a couple questions.
We have a 2 night stay December for a Xmas party at MK. We wanted to stay at FQ but no rooms on special. If we stay here in a preferred room- will we be close to a bus and food? Is the bus normally full when we board- are we first or last pick up/ drop off?

How easy is it to go to FQ to get beignets and also is the boat to Disney springs near preferred rooms?

Thanks!!

The preferred rooms are close to the food court and the south bus depot. The south depot is the last stop for the park buses before heading to the parks. Usually, the MK bus in the morning has long lines, but they are okay later in the day. We have had good luck with the POR park buses.

There are several ways to get to FQ for beignets. It is approximately a ten-minute walk to FQ on the path along the river. Or you could take the Disney Springs bus to FQ. It will stop at FQ after it makes all the POR stops. Or you can take the boat. :)

The boat and the walking path to FQ are about the same distance from the preferred rooms. The bus stop is closer to the preferred area than the boat or path. But since the preferred rooms are the closest rooms to the main building, none of those options are too far away.

I just booked the preferred. I plan to keep looking for FQ openings but this should work. We are staying 2 nights and just attending the Mickey Xmas party one evening.

We plan to go to springs a couple times and maybe FQ. If weather permits swim/ hot tub.

Checking out this morning, leaning some extra hurricane supplies we had for anyone if they want them (sweet tea, zero sugar Gatorade and some Dasani water bottles). Between 9523 and 9524.

Staying here for 2 nights with my 9 year old grandson, for the buses and food court is there an area I could request. I have never stayed here before

Unless you have 5 people, that would most likely mean a room in buildings 80 or 85. They are quite large so that's a fairly wide possible area. Personally I would request building 85 (Magnolia Terrace) and ask for a room relatively close to the bridge across Ol' Man Island.

Thank you. I am clueless about this resort. But so excited to go

Booked our 2025 trip today and I couldn't believe that Riverside was out of standard rooms already for the first week of December! Worked out for us because we're ending up at French Quarter in newly renovated standard rooms :)

I wonder if Riverside is getting ready to start a refurb after French Quarter is finished?!

Just returned from a quick stay at Riverside. We hadn't stayed there in over 20 years and really enjoyed it. However we had one issue that really bugged me and I am curious if it is a common problem. We had planned on spending some time at the pool and enjoying the hot tub.

However every time we went to the pool the hot tub was completely loaded with small young children using the hot tub as a kiddy pool. The entire hot tub area was taken over by a couple of large family groups and they were using the hot tub as their personal pool. I'm talking a dozen or more little kids wearing life vests with 1 or 2 adults in the pool with them. Our group was at the pool for over 3 hours and the hot tub was always full of children. We went to the pool three separate times and this was always the case. I did finally stop at the hot tub and asked one of the adults if we could use the hot tub and was told they were currently using it.

Didn't want to be confrontational and didn't know who to complain to so just left. Anyone else have this issue? I thought young children weren't suppose to use the hot tub. They were jumping off the side into the hot tub and racing around while the adults in the group sat at the tables drinking.
