We had a garden view room in building 25 back in 2002 and loved it. We didn't mind the walk to the food court, it's not that far and we loved being so close to the West Depot. We always had a seat and buses seemed to come fairly quickly. On our last trip in 2014, we were near the East Depot and many buses passed us by because they were full but there was only one day that we had to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus.We really liked being in building 25. The pool there is very nice. The building is close to the west depot, which is usually the first stop for the park buses. And it didn't seem that far to the food court.![]()

Hi All! Booking the room for our Jan trip and really hoping for a view of one of the little ponds with a bridge. Would that be a water view room, or still a garden view?
Hi all, are you making your requests on MDE and does that open 60 days out? First time trip to WDW later this year, so excited about POR!!I just checked again and the inline check-in system is back up. My previous request (ground floor) is still in there, but as others have mentioned some of the other selections make no sense for my booking type (royal room)
When you use Uber, is it easier to have them come to your building, or do you just meet them out by the lobby?Yep, lots of times. Goes great.
I had mixed results with this. When you use Uber, is it easier to have them come to your building, or do you just meet them out by the lobby?
Thanks, super helpful!!I had mixed results with this.
With Uber I was able to put in my exact building and had a pick up there without issue.
Later in the trip we didn't have any cash for tips so I went to Lyft and with Lyft I tried to put in my exact building and I wasn't successful, it only let me put in Port Orleans in general, it didn't ever want to take the Pin. I tried to notify the driver of the building but wasn't successful. He didn't understand and went to the lobby area so we just walked over there.
For drop off we were able to get to our building without problem.
New to Uber, what I'd the standard tip amount? Thanks!Later in the trip we didn't have any cash for tips so I went to Lyft...
Hi there,
We're slated to check into POR-Riverside October 7th for 3 nights and I got a bit stumped by something on my on-line check-in. I have booked a preferred room for my stay and I assumed this meant I'd be staying in the Alligator Bayou. But there are two options for room requests - One of them offers "mansions area" and the other is a laundry list of things from various floors, corner rooms and 2 queen beds (there's more but that's what I remember). Ack! I wasn't expecting these options.![]()
From what I've been reading on the maps, the Mansions area is a bit farther away from the restaurants- is that really bad? Maybe not? Now I'm second guessing everything... Is there something inherently cooler about the Mansions that I don't know? We're three people, mom, dad and our teenage son (13).
What should I request? We are generally happiest with quiet stays and don't mind a bit of a walk to where we're going. We generally like to be upstairs instead of ground floor. But what am I missing here? Why are mansions even an option?
I realize these are only requests but What would you choose? We've never stayed here before.
If I ask for a mansion room, am I completely undoing the 'preferred room request' that I'm paying for?![]()
Choices! What would you do? I do realize that these are only requests and I'll likely only get exactly what I'm paying for but this kind of 'agonizing' is kind of fun.
Open to your thoughts and opinions.![]()

I usually do $5 on property. I ended up liking Lyft better since their app will allow you to include a tip.New to Uber, what I'd the standard tip amount? Thanks!
How do you request buildings? It wasn't an option at early online check in? By faxing the requests? We really liked being in building 25. The pool there is very nice. The building is close to the west depot, which is usually the first stop for the park buses. And it didn't seem that far to the food court.
ETA: I checked the room map and it looks like building 16 has a lot of pool view rooms. It would be close to both the food court and the south bus depot, which is the depot closest to the food court.
You would have to add it to your requests by calling the Disney resort reservation number. But we didn't request that building. We were just lucky enough to get it.How do you request buildings? It wasn't an option at early online check in? By faxing the requests?
We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside for four days at which time we will check out. The day that we are checking out though, we plan on spending the entire day inside one of the parks. Will the Resort store our luggage for us while we enjoy the park? If so, is there a fee?
Thank you
