Hey there, We are working on dining reservations and wondering if Boatwrights a good choice?
Thanks!

Yes! We always have our first night dinner there. DH loves the prime rib, I really like the steak and crawfish mac and cheese, and we're both bonkers over the cornbread and pecan pie. We'll be having dinner there in a few weeks. :)

We have eaten at Boatwrights twice and both times have been very good. The first time we ate there in Aug 2015 the French onion soup and cornbread were both fantastic. When we ate there this past June the prime rib was excellent. I can't remember what else everyone ate, but it was good. :)

Did the water wheel use to move?

It does all move. It was shut down for maintenance to the water trough system while I was there though (it is actually completely water-driven, the only electrical part is the pump that causes the water to flow down the trough).

Just back from a stay last week and happy to answer questions if I can. We had a standard room and requested (online check in) a Mansion room on the 2nd floor and got both requests. We were in room 8219 in Acadian House which was the far back extension. We were probably as far as you could get from the main building but there were steps right outside our door and only about 50 yards from the North Depot bus stop. We used that stop the entire trip and it was wonderful. As far as I could tell it was always the second stop (South was last) and I found it much less stressful than our previous trip when we always walked to South and it was very crowded and pushy. Never waited more than ten minutes for a bus and always got seats from that stop no problem. All the stops had the screens showing when busses were due but for some reason the one in North was never turned on. It was nice being so close to the busstop because we could run over there so quickly.

We always used the quiet pool and it was never crowded.

Wanted to get some resort specific merchandise and was disappointed they were sold out of Christmas ornaments. They had mugs and keychains and a few prints.

Refillable mugs still had handles but they only had red and blue. Food court selection was good but process of ordering is hectic when trying to order for the whole family. I wish you could get your meal and come back later for dessert. (when using meal plan)

Great stay in all. This was our 4th stay at POR and would stay there again.

Thanks, I will keep our reservation. Hubby saw the prime rib and he was sold.

Thanks, we will give it a shot. It does have a great menu to choose from.

It is wonderful. Though never crowded so if you want to just check on a given day for your ADR, you can always do that.

And don't skip the wings at the lounge if you like wings. They are so very yummy!
We're going over there on our FQ trip next week just for the wings (and well, Yehaa Bob, but mostly wings)

Long time Disney visitor, yet I've never eaten at Boatwrights before! Looking forward to rectifying that in the near future!!

Weird question... Will our room # be on MDE before we check in on Sat?

Room numbers are never shwon on MDE.

If you have done the full online checkin, registered a credit card, and received your magic bands, then you may receive a text or email shortly before your arrival time giving you your room number and allowing you to go straight there rather than calling at the Front Desk first. This is not guaranteed though, there are factors such as requests and temporary changes in room inventory which can affect how this works.

Thanks, that's good to know about the wings!

Well you could, but they would charge you the regular menu price for the drink. To get free refills though, you need to go to the food court.

That's a shame, one of the good things about SSR is the amount of refillable drinks machines by the pools. Oh well - will either have to have cocktails or send the husband or child to the Riverside Mill! :)

Can anyone confirm that the Riverside Mill still has Caffeine Free Diet Coke? (Not a joke question, although I wish it were.)

Also, have people had success with ordering bottled water from Amazon Prime Now? Would I use the (non-PO Box) address from Andre's website (http://www.portorleans.org/services.php#Mail)? Do I have to type anything in the "special delivery instructions" box?
