Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

We really liked being in building 25. The pool there is very nice. The building is close to the west depot, which is usually the first stop for the park buses. And it didn't seem that far to the food court. :)
We had a garden view room in building 25 back in 2002 and loved it. We didn't mind the walk to the food court, it's not that far and we loved being so close to the West Depot. We always had a seat and buses seemed to come fairly quickly. On our last trip in 2014, we were near the East Depot and many buses passed us by because they were full but there was only one day that we had to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus.

I agree with this. We always request building 25. Close to a quiet pool, laundry and the West Depot is very convenient.

Hi All! Booking the room for our Jan trip and really hoping for a view of one of the little ponds with a bridge. Would that be a water view room, or still a garden view? So many visits there and we usually book garden and get a view of vegetation (which I love). Just looking to mix it up this time when I send requests but want to make sure I am booking the right category. :)

That's one of the Garden View options, although there a lots of other possible views in that category too (vegetation, lawns, courtyard, etc). Pool View would get you a room overlooking a swimming pool, and River View overlooking the Sassagoula River.

I just checked again and the inline check-in system is back up. My previous request (ground floor) is still in there, but as others have mentioned some of the other selections make no sense for my booking type (royal room)
Hi all, are you making your requests on MDE and does that open 60 days out? First time trip to WDW later this year, so excited about POR!!

When you use Uber, is it easier to have them come to your building, or do you just meet them out by the lobby?
I had mixed results with this.
With Uber I was able to put in my exact building and had a pick up there without issue.
Later in the trip we didn't have any cash for tips so I went to Lyft and with Lyft I tried to put in my exact building and I wasn't successful, it only let me put in Port Orleans in general, it didn't ever want to take the Pin. I tried to notify the driver of the building but wasn't successful. He didn't understand and went to the lobby area so we just walked over there.
For drop off we were able to get to our building without problem.

Hi there,

We're slated to check into POR-Riverside October 7th for 3 nights and I got a bit stumped by something on my on-line check-in. I have booked a preferred room for my stay and I assumed this meant I'd be staying in the Alligator Bayou. But there are two options for room requests - One of them offers "mansions area" and the other is a laundry list of things from various floors, corner rooms and 2 queen beds (there's more but that's what I remember). Ack! I wasn't expecting these options.

From what I've been reading on the maps, the Mansions area is a bit farther away from the restaurants- is that really bad? Maybe not? Now I'm second guessing everything... Is there something inherently cooler about the Mansions that I don't know? We're three people, mom, dad and our teenage son (13).

What should I request? We are generally happiest with quiet stays and don't mind a bit of a walk to where we're going. We generally like to be upstairs instead of ground floor. But what am I missing here? Why are mansions even an option? :flower1:

I realize these are only requests but What would you choose? We've never stayed here before.

If I ask for a mansion room, am I completely undoing the 'preferred room request' that I'm paying for? :magnify:

Choices! What would you do? I do realize that these are only requests and I'll likely only get exactly what I'm paying for but this kind of 'agonizing' is kind of fun. :teeth:

Open to your thoughts and opinions. :thanks:

The online options include a list of options that won't apply to every reservation. Since you booked a preferred room you will get a room in Alligator Bayou. Even if you checked mansions you wouldn't get it. Just ignore the things you aren't interested in. If you really want an upper floor, then check that. We also like to check corner room, because then you get an extra window and only one neighbor. Don't let the options worry you. The preferred rooms are all nice and your son will like the extra bed. :)

Preferred rooms are in Alligator Bayou. If you choose mansions area in your requests, they will not be able to accomodate you, so you'll still end up in Alligator Bayou and you'll just have wasted a request.

All rooms in the Mansions area are further than the preferred rooms (but not always by much). As for which is nicer, it really is a question of personal taste. We stayed in a preferred room last time and loved it. It felt very intimate, and exotic. But this time, we have relatives in the royal rooms so we requested a king bed room in the mansions to be close to them. I'm sure we'll have a great time too. Three days to go !!!

New to Uber, what I'd the standard tip amount? Thanks!
I usually do $5 on property. I ended up liking Lyft better since their app will allow you to include a tip.

And before someone mentions tipping isn't required for Uber, that is correct. Uber doesn't have an official stand on tipping. They'll say it's not necessary, and that is correct, it's not. Anymore than tipping Mousekeeping is necessary. It's just something we do and aren't comfortable using the service without a tip.

ETA: I checked the room map and it looks like building 16 has a lot of pool view rooms. It would be close to both the food court and the south bus depot, which is the depot closest to the food court.
How do you request buildings? It wasn't an option at early online check in? By faxing the requests?

We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside for four days at which time we will check out. The day that we are checking out though, we plan on spending the entire day inside one of the parks. Will the Resort store our luggage for us while we enjoy the park? If so, is there a fee?
Thank you

Yes they will. And there's no fee.

We're staying in AB, family of 5. Has anyone stayed there and had a Bob Duallie? We've only done AoA suites so had plenty of room to keep the stroller so didn't even think about it until now.
