Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

We plan on checking in early and hanging out by the pool until our room is ready. Do they have a place to change by the pool with lockers like at CSR?

We got to the resort a little after 9am, and didn't get a room until almost 1pm. We were exhausted due to our flight being super early and just wanted to get to the room for a quick nap. I literally fell asleep in the lobby :( I asked at the desk after a little over an hour if they could just put us wherever because we were exhausted and she told us they had nothing. Which I thought was very odd :/ Once we got to the room we just decided to let it go, and it ended up being super close to the north depot, so we felt like in the end it almost made up for it.
Wow! In December we transferred to POR from SOG at 9 am and had our room immediately.

I know it sucks waiting when you're tired, but actually they were able to get you into a room 2 hours early. Check in is actually 3:00PM.

While I totally agree, then they shouldn't let anyone in before 3pm in that case. When I made my requests it asked if I wanted an earlier room over ton requests and I said yes. I also told them when I was coming multiple times. It's not like I showed up unannounced asking for a room. I get it to some degree, but at the same time it was frustrating. My friend has stayed there at least 5 times and always arrives between 7am-8am and said she's never once had an issue and her room has always been ready before she even leaves her house, which is a little under 2hrs away. I won't not stay there again based off of this, but next time I know to take a later flight so I have more sleep haha.

In our trips we usually arrive by noon. Half the time the room is ready other times it has been within 1 to 3 hours. A lot depends on the number of rooms checking in that morning and how full the resort is the night before you arrive ( & when they checkout ). This has been our experience not only at POFQ but other places we have stayed.

When we arrive on property early (and it has been as early as 7:00 am after driving through the night), I make sure we have plans for the day that don't involve our room. We have variously hit a park, lounged by the pool, and gone to DTD. As much as I love getting a room early, it's not something I expect to be available, even if it is a request. It's Piixie dust if it happens of course, but I won't blame anyone if I don't get my room until 3:00.

Yes, that's what most people report - usually the only reason for a delay is if the resort has assigned a specific number for you (to meet special requests) and they need to wait for that room to be vacated and cleaned before they can issue it to you. But if you tell them you just want any available room anywhere, it's very rare not to be able to get it at almost any time of the day. That's how the Ready Room allocation system is meant to work anyway. I wonder if the OP's planned room still wasn't available, or there was some cleaning issue which meant it had to be taken out of inventory, so as the guests were still waiting at 1pm the CMs re-allocated them a room from the Ready pool instead?

I'm sure the day of the week you are checking in has a lot to do with a room being ready early, or at least it seems to me that we have had a better chance of getting a room early when we checked in during the week early as opposed to the weekend.

Does anyone on here know for sure (from a recent trip perhaps) what scent POR uses with the shampoo and conditioner?

They still had them available last time I was there - but you can always go and pick one up later, the next time you're passing the front desk. The version imprinted on the table top has been there since the Royal Rooms first opened.

When we checked in last month, May 19, we didn't get the paper invitation. I was a bit disappointed because I deliberately drove past POR, with all our bags on the way back from Tampa, to MCO so that the girls could get that special little bit when they got off the DME bus. So, it may very well be hit or miss.
We did get a wonderful surprise when we returned to our room later. A CM friend of my dd's had left a wonderful gift bag for us. That pretty much made up for no invitation!!!

It's H2O's "Blushing Orange":

I think they do normally have the royal invitations, but I guess it depends on whether the CM remembers or not. If you ask though, I'm sure they'd be able to get one for you. Was your gift bag one of the Port Orleans specials by the way, or something your DD's friend had put together?

Andre,
That picture you posted of the soaps.....is that an old shampoo on the right? I have a bottle like that from my first visit to CBR back in 1999!!!

By the way I LOVE the blushing orange and hope they do not plan to change before my next visit this October.

Has anyone ever had a gift basket or cake delivered to their room? How does this work?

I'm not absolutely sure. It had things in it that were directed at my dd...specific characters, that sort of thing. It was all in a terrific POR cooler! It had a lot of stuff in it, as well as a personal note from the CM friend! And thus lovely young woman left the most special 'welcome to POR' message in the phone.
It really started our stay off quite magically.....as if being in a RR wasn't enough!! My dd and her friend were like 6 y/o's when they walked in...so much squealing and crying from my 21y/o!!

So this morning, I have been trying to send in my requests by using the Got Free Fax site...typed it all up, hit send, and got a page saying that an email confirmation was being sent to me with a link that needed to be clicked before the fax would be sent. I've tried two times this morning and neither time have a received the email confirmation with the link. Checking both inbox and spam. Has this happened to anyone? I want to make sure my fax gets sent but want to make sure POR isn't receiving multiple faxes from me either. Thought this would be easy :/

I just booked a long weekend trip to POR w/ my sister & niece in August. I am beyond excited!!! Originally we planned to stay at Pop, since we enjoyed it so much during our visit last year. But…it wasn't much more to bump up to POR, so I am surprising them with an upgrade :)

This will be our first time at POR and I booked a Garden View room (cheapest available for our dates). Any tips for reserving a room within this category? I know we want to stay in the Magnolia Bend section as opposed to the Bayou, but I think some of those rooms have obstructed views due to the staircase. Has anyone requested Magnolia Bend and been put in the Bayou section instead?

Lastly - Does anyone know if they allow kids to go down the water slide WITH an adult? I know my niece will want to try the slide, but given that she doesn't swim without a vest yet, it's not safe to send her down on her own. I pretty much chose to upgrade based on the pool's features, as my niece always says her favorite part of the trip last year was swimming in the pool (yes, even over the all the princess meet & greets!).

Actually on our last trip we drove all night and got to POR at 6:30 AM. They had a room ready for us.
