We plan on checking in early and hanging out by the pool until our room is ready. Do they have a place to change by the pool with lockers like at CSR?
Wow! In December we transferred to POR from SOG at 9 am and had our room immediately. We got to the resort a little after 9am, and didn't get a room until almost 1pm. We were exhausted due to our flight being super early and just wanted to get to the room for a quick nap. I literally fell asleep in the lobbyI asked at the desk after a little over an hour if they could just put us wherever because we were exhausted and she told us they had nothing. Which I thought was very odd :/ Once we got to the room we just decided to let it go, and it ended up being super close to the north depot, so we felt like in the end it almost made up for it.

I know it sucks waiting when you're tired, but actually they were able to get you into a room 2 hours early. Check in is actually 3:00PM.
In our trips we usually arrive by noon. Half the time the room is ready other times it has been within 1 to 3 hours. A lot depends on the number of rooms checking in that morning and how full the resort is the night before you arrive ( & when they checkout ). This has been our experience not only at POFQ but other places we have stayed. While I totally agree, then they shouldn't let anyone in before 3pm in that case. When I made my requests it asked if I wanted an earlier room over ton requests and I said yes. I also told them when I was coming multiple times. It's not like I showed up unannounced asking for a room. I get it to some degree, but at the same time it was frustrating. My friend has stayed there at least 5 times and always arrives between 7am-8am and said she's never once had an issue and her room has always been ready before she even leaves her house, which is a little under 2hrs away. I won't not stay there again based off of this, but next time I know to take a later flight so I have more sleep haha.

When we checked in last month, May 19, we didn't get the paper invitation. I was a bit disappointed because I deliberately drove past POR, with all our bags on the way back from Tampa, to MCO so that the girls could get that special little bit when they got off the DME bus. So, it may very well be hit or miss. They still had them available last time I was there - but you can always go and pick one up later, the next time you're passing the front desk. The version imprinted on the table top has been there since the Royal Rooms first opened.

Does anyone on here know for sure (from a recent trip perhaps) what scent POR uses with the shampoo and conditioner?

We did get a wonderful surprise when we returned to our room later. A CM friend of my dd's had left a wonderful gift bag for us. That pretty much made up for no invitation!!!
Andre,
That picture you posted of the soaps.....is that an old shampoo on the right?
It's H2O's "Blushing Orange":

I think they do normally have the royal invitations, but I guess it depends on whether the CM remembers or not. If you ask though, I'm sure they'd be able to get one for you. Was your gift bag one of the Port Orleans specials by the way, or something your DD's friend had put together?
