Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

On the POFQ site it says this is the shipping address which is different from the location address:

Post Office Box 10,000
Lake Buena Vista
Florida 32830-1000

I just want to confirm this is still correct. If I ordered from Amazon and had it shipped there, is this the address I use? I ask because it seems odd to be a PO box. Seems like it should go directly to the hotel, not a post office box.

I would think it would need to go to the physical address of the resort which is:

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort French Quarter
2201 Orleans Drive
Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830

You could call the resort directly to be sure (407-934-5000). Make sure you ask for someone at the front desk. When you call the resort number, most likely you are speaking with someone who is not physically at the resort.

Edit: Found this info on the WDW website:

Receiving Mail

Guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotels can receive mail during their stay. Occasionally, some Guests choose to ship items in advance of their vacation to help save luggage space.

If you intend to receive mail during your vacation, be sure the receiving letter or package:
•Includes the mailing address of the Disney Resort Hotel
•Clearly features the word “Guest” on the front and the date of the recipient’s arrival at the hotel

Thank you. I've been searching all over for info on this. I couldn't find it on WDW's website. Does the WDW website also say how to find their "mailing address"? I guess if we had Amazon ship it, we'd have to put Guest and date as part of the name.

See www.portorleans.org/services.php#Mail, or www.portorleans.org/frenchquarter-info.php (which is the top result returned by a Google search for that info by the way).

Basically you should use the PO Box address for POSTAL items (as the post office only delivers to a central location for all WDW mail) but you should use the resort's physical ground address for courier deliveries that will get dropped off directly at the resort. If in doubt, use the physical address anyway as that will still work for both delivery methods.

Yes, the guest name and arrival date should be on the package.

This is the link for POFQ on the WDW website, the address is located on the right side of the page: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/port-orleans-resort-french-quarter/

Taking 8 of us and staying in POFQ for the 1st time...opted for POFQ due to the size and proximity to everything there. Taking 2 of our grandsons (5 and 3)..and want to be able to hit the pool, bus stops and food court with as little walking as possible due to the mid June heat..

We've bee to WDW close to 15 times, but every trip is a new experience..thats why we love it!:cool1::cool1:

POFQ experts...any words of advice? :confused3

I was there a few weeks ago, and there's a computerized panel near the machines (all the washers and dryers are numbered now). Be sure to choose which panel will operate the machine that you want, and you use a credit or debit card to select the machine and pay for it. There are several options of drying times to choose for the dryers. One note: Be sure to check the rubber gasket around the washer openings for stranded socks or small items. I didn't realize items could hide there and I washed my family's clothes and then discovered someone's thong (eww) in the gasket when our cycle was over.

Thanks for the tip about the hideaway socks. Also, choosing the correct panel is very important. I have made this mistake several times even with the coin operated system, putting all my laundry and detergent into the machine, paying and hitting Start and then watching an adjacent machine turn on and begin the cycle .... :lmao:

I ship things to our resort every year and have always used this address.

I address it as above, with the addressee as:

[My Name] Check In [Date] and then the address listed above.

If you check in late, they seem to send the packages over to POR for storage so you can either stroll over there or arrange a time for it to be sent over in the morning. I know this because we usually arrive quite late so I just plan to have any items I need for arrival night and the first day in our luggage and sort the delivery out the next day.

Thank you everyone for all the shipping help! Has anyone actually ordered from Amazon and have it sent there, or do you just send from home. With Amazon we have Prime so it can ship for free when ordered. Plus, we could order while we are there with the 2 day shipping.

I'm so excited...I talked my hubby into going to WDW next April! :thumbsup2

He's a nightowl, so we need two rooms. I really, really, REALLY want to do two rooms at POFQ again. I called to get room rates (since they are not posted yet) and it has gone up significantly since 2013. Maybe once room/ticket packages are released this summer, the price will improve. If not, we are looking at POP. I know it's nice and everything, but it's not FQ. :sad1:

My fingers are crossed that we can work it out somehow. POFQ is where we stayed last year for our boys' first trip and they loved it as much as we did. In the meantime, I will be following this fabulous thread.

Oh BTW...If anyone is questioning the wifi, my husband was taking two online classes on our last trip and had to do some Skyping on his laptop and he never once had an issue!

Spent last night at pofq! Had a great river room in building 5 next to my cousins room who are staying for 7 nights! We checked in at 8:30am and the rooms were ready by 11:15am. The resort is pretty busy with cheerleaders and high school band groups but we ate at off times and didn't really notice it. The bar at the pool was pretty busy around the 1pm hour and there was one bartender with a line of 20 people at one point. Housekeeping was great in my room except a guest before me left an iPhone charger which I turned in. Looking forward to staying on Friday again!

I strongly suspect that the 2015 rates will be higher again than the 2014 ones, as they have only gone up year on year, even during recession times.

Just got back from our first stay at POFQ and it was awesome! Everyone there is so nice and accomodating. We arrived around 11am and they were able to get us into a room right away and because our first night was room only they were able to keep us inthe same room for the rest of our package stay as well. We were in building 4 room 4245 and it was spotless. It smelled clean when we walked in. The simple elegance of the decor was welcoming, the beds were comfortable and mousekeeping did a good job. Food was good and cast members at the food court were helpful and friendly. We booked a bounce back for our fall trip at FQ because we love it so much. The proximity to buses, pool and main building were great. I think we have a new favorite Mod!:thumbsup2

We will be there in 39 days and are considering a bounceback as well...

Is it room rate discount or free dining? Can you recall the dates that it's good for?

Also..was Bldg 4 a good choice? Close to pool/buses/ food?

I was thinking of that bldg or #5...Thanks so much...

It was room only discount. We will be back 11/6-11/14. We had to arrive on either 11/6, 11/9, or 11/13. they had Garden and River view rooms available.

Building 4 was amazing! Max 5 min to anything was prefect! We took food back to our room several times and were right around the corner from the evening movie. I can't imagine it would take long to get anywhere even from the furthest buildings.

Just booked to return for thanksgiving 2015 , giving us plenty of time to save up, the lure of the disney dining plan , 14 day ultimate ticket for the price of the 7 day ticket and $200 disney gift card was too much .. Vegas & New York lost out again.

Stopped by today to make sure my room was all set for Thursday and I'm glad I did bc my co-workers room that I booked had the wrong days when I modified it last night and she hadn't had the time to look! Thankfully the leader at the front desk was able to help me out and fix her reservation! I walked into the food court to get dinner to go and there was hardly anyone in there at 6pm which I was shocked at! Everyone must still be at the parks or not checking in until the weekend!! 2 more sleeps till I'm back!
