Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Great question! I really, really hope so. Those comforters Disney picks for their resorts are Gd awful...

I believe they have changed over to the white and they made runners out of the comforters that used to be in the rooms.

Does anyone know if POFQ has mattress toppers for guests to use if requested? We loved our stay last September and have booked there again for this year's trip.

Unfortunately though, we find the beds very hard and uncomfortable. I'd hate to move resorts just because the beds are hard, but our first stay was at CSR and the beds were wonderful.

I was there in Feb and the beds had the white bedding with the runners from the old comforters

Just curious about the beds/bedding. I've stayed at CSR, CBR, AoA, WL, and Kidani Village between Jan and now and they all now have the white sheet cover with a decorative cloth at the end of the bed…does POFQ have this now as well??

Yes, they now have bright-white bed covers with a runner at the end. Not as pretty, but less liable for Disney being sued over an infection caught from lack of regularly washable top covers.

Does anyone know if you can use your RFID mug at POR if you are staying at POFQ? The food court looks like it has more choices.

Yes, you can use your refillable mug at both POR and POFQ - and all of the other Disney resorts too in fact (but not at the parks).

I stopped by yesterday to make sure everything was set for my cousins' reservation at POFQ and my mug from Kidani Village worked at POFQ! You just can't use it at the parks or water parks.

Okay, I am going to say that I will miss the purple bedspreads because It felt royal to me.... HOWEVER, I do always love the feel of the all white bedding. Also, after a recent stay at a hotel that had all white bedding.... I think I'll take the all white bedding, as it helped us very quickly spot a bed bug!! EEEKKK! Yes, I know Disney does it's best to prevent these, but there is still always the chance.

17 days until our first POFQ stay!! Eeeeeeek. :cool1:

Fun! :cool1: We leave in 58 days. After 3 years.... that is not soon enough!

I agree, I wish they had simply made lighter-weight covers in the same patterns (or at least colours) as before. That would have given the best of both worlds - more regularly washable and more hygienic, but also still retaining the room's theming.

Better still, I would have preferred lightweight duvets rather than tucked in sheets/blankets.

Don't blame you for being excited. You're going to love it!! Enjoy the last part (slowest part, lol) of your countdown!

I agree. It added to the atmosphere and theming. All they had to do was bring the patterns into line with the end result they want to achieve. Duvets would have been great! It must be a hygiene issue. That, or they just never thought of it.

Just changed resort to PORFQ for June trip. Now the questions can begin...
I'll start slow...

1) tell me about the boat route to DTD. What is the order of stops?

People will get on the boat at Riverside first, then stop and pick people from French Quarter up, then head directly to DTD. The boat used to drop people off at the Marketplace section of DTD, but because of construction, I think the boat now stops near the centre of DTD. The ride takes about 15 minutes. :goodvibes

Ok then... On to question #2

I already know I want building #4 because I want close to the bus stop. Are there 2 or 3 floors in each building? Tell me why I want ground floor or top floor? Can you hear neighbors walking above you? Are there elevators in each building?

Oh dear, and I said I was going to start slow.

3 floors and centrally located elevators in each building. Personally I prefer ground floor wherever I go. I did not hear a peep above me, or beside me. Check out portorleans.org if you haven't done so yet. :goodvibes
