Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Just booked to return for thanksgiving 2015 , giving us plenty of time to save up, the lure of the disney dining plan , 14 day ultimate ticket for the price of the 7 day ticket and $200 disney gift card was too much .. Vegas & New York lost out again.

How did you book that far out and more importantly how did you get that deal?

They probably booked through the UK Site which has different rules/options. The dead giveaway is the fact that they have 14 day tickets, here in the US 10 days is the max.

Completely missed the 14 day ticket. Thanks for the info.

Could have got the same offer through the disney uk website but would have had to wait till 11 months out to book flights it was easier to book as a package

Another dead giveaway is the posters location is listed as Durham, UK.

I was able to book the UK deal for this year, being that I live in Sweden and I have been going back and forth today since seeing the US free dine offer. I am thrilled and excited that we have the FQ booked because it's not being offered although had we wanted to we could have saved almost 280 dollars each if we switch to the Caribbean Beach. We have 14 day hoppers though so that's something, and I do really think I'll prefer the FQ over the CB but unless you're staying more than 10 days or going deluxe the US deal is better.

Really reading this again we should probably try to switch but I've read the CB is kind of run down, and the beds are only doubles and we are 3 ladies who will be sharing, plus we have the hoppers already, and the resort is smaller with better transportation (I've heard). At beach we could only book a standard room and at FQ I've booked a garden view, if that makes any difference :)? Still, it's a tough one!

We booked a garden view too because I don't want to see a parking lot as I walk to my room. :rotfl: I've never been there, so I don't know if I'll still pass one anyway. Guess it depends on where I'm going. But I just wanted to feel "gardeny". :)

My family and I will be staying at POFQ for the first time in August. I have so enjoyed reading this thread and cannot wait to stay here. Thank you Andre for all of the work that you do here. When thinking about making a building request, we originally planned on requesting building 7 because we wanted to have a closer walk to Riverside and use of their pools and food court. We have a garden view, and really like the views from building 6 overlooking the courtyard. We also like building 4. I realize that a request is not a guarantee, I am going to be happy anywhere I am.

Here is my question: in minutes, how much longer is the walk to Riverside in building 4 or 6 compared to building 7?

From building 4 it would take about 5-6 minutes longer, depending how fast you walk. Difference between building 6 and 7? Again depending on your walking speed, not much of a difference. Perhaps 2-3 minutes.

Eh, the parking lot view at FQ isn't bad. There really isn't a bad view at the resort. :goodvibes

I've finally got round to completing the updates to my Port Orleans building floorplan layouts that I was talking about a while back. So not only can you check the various room types & categories, plus the locations of all the Accessible rooms, but now all of the Connecting Rooms are listed too.

While special room requests can never be guaranteed of course, it is now much easier for you to check to see if a particular room request might be realistic or not.

See the Room Locations and Requests page and click on any of the buildings in the resort maps to see expanded floorplan views. You can also download combined PDF documents for each section of the resort from the Maps and Directions page.

I hope you enjoy the updated maps, and have fun planning!

Andre

Thanks Andre!

I'm baaaaack! I got a FD PIN in my email tonight so was able to switch from CSR to POFQ and in the process saved over $370, not counting the $720 6 nights of FD for DH and I. SO happy to be able to stay at POFQ again. Whew. That 2 1/2 hours on hold was well worth it. ::yes::

I just booked POFQ for September! I had originally booked AKL because I wanted to try a deluxe, but I decided that switching to POFQ would not only save me $450 to use towards other things, but also time spent traveling on the bus to the parks! Maybe I'll get to AKL one of these days, but I've stayed at POFQ before so I already know that I like it. Yay!

My family will be staying Thanksgiving week, Nov 25-30. Very excited to be back at POFQ. We stayed here Christmas week last year for 2 nights and everybody loved it. This is a surprise trip for DH 40th birthday. It has been so hard to keep it a secret, nobody to talk to about plans, hopefully I can hold it until his bday late October. :rolleyes1 For the first time ever I'm using a travel agent so I'm only dealing with emails, the experience has been great so far. At least I have the Disboards. :)
