8 more hours til our flight to Disney... 14 hrs and we'LL be at Pop!!!

Have a fantastic time! I just read your pre-trip report from beginning to end! I loved it. Great report. I can't wait to hear about your trip. I'll be at POP for the first time in January and I'm more excited after reading your report. Enjoy!!! :)

We just got back from our very first visit to the World and we stayed at Pop. It was just DB and myself and were at the 80s building. Loved all of the information from the Boards - most of our 5-day,6 night trip was planned based on everything on these Boards. The distance from Building 9 to Classic Hall wasn't bad at all. From what I've read, the 80s and 90s buildings were further away but it was it didn't take more than 3 minutes. 5 if we dawdled or got distracted by Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. I loved that we were able to wander about at Art of Animation. Our Pop experience was great, the Cast Members were always very helpful. I only had 2 teensy weensy gripes: the first being not seeing any Pop-related moychindice except for a postcard, we'd have loved a mug and second: the food was just okay; nothing too much to go on about. In conclusion, yay to Pop and yay for the Boards! Thanks so much!

They had Pop mugs and I think magnets and some other Items for sale with the Pop logo on it last month. Maybe they sold out.

Glad you enjoyed your stay!

A few weeks ago they had shot glasses, key chains, and a few other things. Can't remember if they had mugs. It was only one small rack, and I think it moved once while we were there, so it can be hard to find. We didn't find it the first time until a week into our stay.

In early September there was a large prominent display of Pop merchandise. It was the first thing we noticed as we walked through the gift shop. I wonder if it's selling out quickly, or maybe it's not very popular and they're scaling it back.

We're checking out in a couple of hours. I asked about the Pop mug the other night and the CM went to the back to check if they had more. She said they were sold out and would be getting more in November. She said all the Pop merchandise has been extremely popular.

Thanks for checking. That makes sense. Of course Pop merchandise is POPular! :goodvibes

Nobody better than my fellow DISers to ask...has anyone ever been (or know anything about being) the "family of the day" or the "first family" at MK? (Or any park)...I'm completely okay with hauling my family to MK etc. an hour before opening so we can actually see how things unfold at RD but is there ever REALLY a chance of being chosen ? haha
Also, from Pop, the earliest bus leaves an hour before RD? or is there anything earlier?

Buses generally start picking up resort guests at 6:30am. Last year, during the week of Christmas, MK was open at 7am. so buses started running between 6am and 6:30am.

I'm not sure how to get picked to be the family of the day though. I've heard (though I don't know if it's true or not) that a different cm gets to pick a random family each day, and they look for happy, enthusiastic people.

49 days until my first solo trip and staying at Pop Century. Can't wait! In looking at the map and the Touring plans map, if I wanted a room in the 50's section, ground floor, in building one (I have a preferred room) would I want to face East to avoid that smoking area? Thanks!

dang. Why have I never considered smoking areas? :-/ I mean, I don't smoke, but it's almost just as important to avoid than to locate!

Thanks for checking! I hope they order more this time and that there will be some left in December! I think that I really need a POP pin and water bottle or mug.::yes::

I never looked at that either, but it would appear that most of the lakeview rooms have a smoking section outside of them. For those of you who have stayed, is that a big issue when travelling to and from your room? We requested lakeview, 50s for our first trip to Pop in December.

To avoid the smoking area, the preferred rooms in the 50's section, ground floor in building 1, would be East facing rooms 1113-1124 (closest to classic hall) or South facing rooms 1125-1136 (closest to the front of POP). The rooms that face the smoking area in building 1 are West facing rooms 1101-1112.

We have had a lake view room several times and have never smelled cigerette smoke around our room from the smoking area's around the walking path along the lake. 1) You don't normally use the walking path to get to your rooms 2) they aren't used as much as the smoking area's within the era's 3) they are in more open area's unlike the area between building 1 & 3 which are more confined and 4) they are far enough away from the rooms that they don't cause any issues. The only reason that the smoking area in the 50's between buildings 1 & 3 caused us problems was because it was always so crowded with smokers (4+ people there anytime we walked by) and that is the main walkway to get to all the rooms that surround the pool area of the 50's bowling pin pool. The last two trips we were in building 2, the smoking area was always so busy and there was so much smoke, we would either hold our breath and run or take the loooong way around by using the walkway around the lake to get to our room. Hopefully someone with a room in building 1 that faces that smoking area can chime in and let us know if they had any issues.
