Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Hello POP'r friends!
Hoping someone on the Disboards can help.
We just got our trip planned and when we found flights for $177rt ($100 less than we paid last year ) we jumped on them. To work with our DGD school schedule, we needed to fly out in the evening so that left us with an 8:15pm departure and with the time change, it has us landing at 11:30pm. This is where my question comes in.......Knowing that we have to get our own luggage for the ME anytime after a 10pm landing and thinking by the time we get on the ME and finally to POP, it may be as late (or early) as 1am before we get to POP to check in, I am wondering how POP would handle that??? meaning, if we don't check in before midnight, will they consider us a no show? We have our reservations booked for that night but getting there at 1am, I am just hoping there is some way that I can tell them that we will be there, just late.

Thank you all for any help from anyone that may have had this experience before??

I ended up having weather delays last year and I called the actual resort (Sports) and told them my new ETA (1:30 am ETA but actually around 2am). They noted it and said it would be fine and it was. I'd just have it noted on your Reservation.

Just to add to what @bookgirl posted, you are not considered a no-show until the computer system rolls over at 6AM the next morning.

This was our experience at All Star Music last summer - we checked in at 1:30am and it wasn't a problem. We'll likely reach Pop around the same time next week. On-line check-in allows you to choose an arrival time, and one of the options is "after midnight" so I'm comfortable that we're covered.

I am wondering if I need to make any special requests since I'll be using an ECV while staying at Pop in May, we've never stayed here before. Are there elavators in the buildings at all? Do we need to request a ground floor room if that answer is no? What do I say when booking as to why I need to request ground floor, just that I need ground floor because I have an ECV?We have paid for preferred, and want to request the 50's section because it's so cute. Can we request both if that's necessary? TIA!

Yes, all the Pop Century buildings have elevators.

If you do decide to request a ground floor room, yes, you can call to request both ground floor and 50's section. That's my favorite request too (50's) and I like having a ground floor room as I find it much more convenient to come and go, ECV or no.

Just a thought but you might also want a ground floor if evacuation by stairs is not an option for your needs. If there is a fire they shut down the elevators. I've made the request on the phone as Ground/Low Floor due to inability to evacuate by stairs. (not me but a family member who while not a EVC/mobility device can not do stairs or not many without stopping or falling)

Thanks, jcarwash, good to know. Ground floor is probably the way to go, being much more convenient. Thanks for saying that, hadn't thought of that yet, lol. Yeah, 50's look real cute, do you think that's a request that's likely to be met? We'll be getting in about noon, so hopefully early enough that my choice will still be available.

Thanks, bookgirl. I'll probably request ground floor to avoid all the going thru all the elevator stuff, but I think that's a good idea for safety, as well. I mean, I could certainly get down the stairs in an emergency, but probably slow going with my bad knees. (Due for knee replacement a few weeks after we get back).

I've had good luck in the past with a request for a ground floor room in the 50's section. You should call to have this request added to your reservation notes. During check-in, if for some reason this specific request isn't met (ground floor but not 50's or 50's but not ground floor, for example), I've also had good luck asking to see if the room assignment can be changed at the desk.

I agree with all of the above and just to help a little, last year, I had requested top floor in the 50's and got first floor 50's :) I think because of the boards, so many people have been requesting top floor for a quieter location and a hopeful view of the fireworks at Epcot and now it seems that first floor may be a little easier to get. We have always requested top floor and have always gotten our request but now that we have had a first floor room, top floor will no longer be our request. We loved having a first floor room. We have stayed in 50's, 60's and 70's all in a standard room and we have loved every location. Since you have a preferred room reserved, you can see on this map where the preferred locations could be located:

The preferred locations are highlighted in yellow so those locations will get you closest to Classic Hall. They are all in the 50's, 60's or 70's which are all good locations so unless you just want the theming of Lady and the Tramp, I think you will be happy with any of the preferred rooms on the first floor.
Have a wonderful trip!

From Pop to Beaches and Cream: Easy or hard travel? We are taking a day off from parks in the middle of the trip to rest. Did the same on the last trip but scheduled Hoop Dee Doo on our rest day and the travel was such a hassle. After all the bus hopping, we still got there early and had no where to sit but in the hot sun. It wasn't relaxing at all! So, tell me-- will we have a whole travel ordeal to get to Beaches and Cream from Pop or will it be simpler? How would we get there? Bus to MK, Bus to Beach Club? Thanks!

Without a car or a taxi it's not easy. I would take a bus to DHS then walk or take the boat to Beach Club.

We did exactly this :thumbsup2 It definitely took a little time. We caught a DHS bus from our resort and caught the boat outside the entrance over to Beach Club. We did it on our arrival day so it didn't take away from our park time but if you wanted to do it on a park day, you would want to do it on your DHS day and expect to be away from the park 2.5+ hrs depending on how many boats you have to wait for getting there and coming back. You can always catch a bus over to Beach Club from DHS and back also. Either way it will take some time.

When we were there a few weeks back, I contemplated buying some to take home. Yes, they do sell them in Everything Pop. They also had a grapefruit scent. I actually ordered online with the 25% coupon.
Thanks!!! I wonder if I can use the coupon at Everything Pop?!
