Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I've had good luck in the past with a request for a ground floor room in the 50's section. You should call to have this request added to your reservation notes. During check-in, if for some reason this specific request isn't met (ground floor but not 50's or 50's but not ground floor, for example), I've also had good luck asking to see if the room assignment can be changed at the desk.

I agree with all of the above and just to help a little, last year, I had requested top floor in the 50's and got first floor 50's :) I think because of the boards, so many people have been requesting top floor for a quieter location and a hopeful view of the fireworks at Epcot and now it seems that first floor may be a little easier to get. We have always requested top floor and have always gotten our request but now that we have had a first floor room, top floor will no longer be our request. We loved having a first floor room. We have stayed in 50's, 60's and 70's all in a standard room and we have loved every location. Since you have a preferred room reserved, you can see on this map where the preferred locations could be located:

The preferred locations are highlighted in yellow so those locations will get you closest to Classic Hall. They are all in the 50's, 60's or 70's which are all good locations so unless you just want the theming of Lady and the Tramp, I think you will be happy with any of the preferred rooms on the first floor.
Have a wonderful trip!

Thanks, jcarwash and SPOERLX3, I appreciate you each sharing your thoughts/experiences! And, thanks for the Pop map, that's great to be able to see the layout and where each section, standard/preferred is actually located! I've gotta call and put this request in for ground floor, and 50's section(I think the 50's is so cute, and do like Lady and the Tramp, lol!), though the whole resort is cute! Usually DD24 doesn't like outside ground floor as she's afraid there might be critters that get in but hopefully she will appreciate the convenience more! Is there any point in requesting a particular building? Now if I call this in, do I also need to fax into the resort several days before our trip, as well?

Appreciate how helpful everyone here in the Pop thread has been, thank you! :goodvibes

I've had more ground floor rooms than I can count at Pop, All-Stars, Port Orleans, Caribbean Beach...I've never had issues with "critters." :goodvibes

Yes, you can try requesting a specific building number. I've done that in the past and it is a request they will try and accommodate. I like building 1 in the 50's and I've made that building request before.

Once you call to add your request to your reservation, no, you don't need to send a fax. That advice doesn't apply to Pop Century anymore.

Regarding critters, I've always avoided ground floor rooms for that reason. In January at Poly, we were in a ground floor room and I told our kids to be really careful with the sliding glass door - to exit and enter quickly and not leave the door open. They were careful - but the lizard was too quick! I repeatedly offered to call for help, but they enjoyed trapping the lizard and setting it free outside. As for the room itself, it was really convenient. So I don't request a higher floor anymore because the ground floor is so convenient, but I also don't request ground floor because of the lizard. Pros and cons to everything!

OK......
It's that time again.
We're going back to Pop Century in May after 50 long weeks away.:D:D:D:D
The Granddaughter is a year older and now understands what, and where, WDW is.
She's all:dogdance: about the trip.
Has anything worth noting changed since last May?

It's just as fun as ever! Enjoy! :goodvibes

I'm at the 6 day countdown!! I got the email today about bypassing the regular check in line and going straight to our room! I can't wait to see how well this works.

From Pop to Beaches and Cream: Easy or hard travel? We are taking a day off from parks in the middle of the trip to rest. Did the same on the last trip but scheduled Hoop Dee Doo on our rest day and the travel was such a hassle. After all the bus hopping, we still got there early and had no where to sit but in the hot sun. It wasn't relaxing at all! So, tell me-- will we have a whole travel ordeal to get to Beaches and Cream from Pop or will it be simpler? How would we get there? Bus to MK, Bus to Beach Club? Thanks!

How did you get to hoop dee doo that it was a hassle? We go to Trails end every trip and have always found it easy and relaxing. Bus from Pop to MK and boat to FW.

For Beaches and Cream I would bus to DHS and boat to Beach/Yacht. Another easy, relaxing voyage :)

We arrive in 3 days! Was happy to receive the straight-to-room message a few days ago - hope it works because we're arriving late. If I have a moment to update while we're there, I will. Excited to try Pop. We usually stay deluxe but love values for budget trips and arrival nights. So far, we've stayed at Sports, Music and AOA. Music is currently my favorite value, but wondering whether Pop will replace it!

I didn't know you could do a boat to get to FW! We did a bus to MK, a bus to FW, then a bus from the front of FW to get to the part where HDD was. I thought I'd read up on the best way to get there, but I guess I was wrong! Thanks for the tip on taking the boat from DHS. We'll be doing that for sure!

We have done the bus thing, too, and enjoyed it, but it is definitely longer than the boat.

We love the boat. You get off and walk just a little bit and you are right there :) We hang out on the beach and playground...absolutely love Fort Wilderness!!

So, bus to MK, hop the boat to FW. It's a 15 or so minute ride...and it's beautiful.

I will be doing it again this Friday ;)

Omg, Omg Omg!!! My Dh has once again shown why he is the sweetest man on the planet and has surprised me with a quick, no kids trip. We are going to be enjoying our first ever stay at the Pop the second weekend in May. We are going to have a standard room. I'm just in shock, don't really know where to start. What requests about room location should we make? Walking doesn't bother us, but noise does...so maybe top floor? We've never stayed at the Pop, and I know I want to make time to walk over and see AoA, any other suggestions on what we should see or do around the resort?
Omg, I'm so excited!!!

Lucky you!!! I can't wait to make a trip to Disney World with no kids!!! I already told DH that our first trip without kids will either be during the F&W Festival or when the resorts are decorated for Christmas. Actually, any time but summer would be great. :-)

As far as room requests -- for a quiet location, I'd request top floor, lake view. We had a top floor, lake view room in building 4 of the 60's section. It was nice and quiet and had a lovely view. And now it has the extra bonus of being close to the bridge so it's an easy walk over to AoA if you want to eat there (we had this room location before AoA was open so the bridge lead to nowhere). As far as walking around AoA, I highly recommend it! It's especially pretty at night. I'd suggest taking a bus back to AoA when leaving a park one evening; grab a drink at Landscape of Flavors or at the pool bar and walk around the property. If you time it right, you could catch the fireworks from Epcot or DHS as you walk across the bridge on your way back to Pop.

We are staying at POP for the first time in September. We are used to staying at moderates and the resort is always a big part of our vacation experience and we usually spend the afternoon there for swimming and exploring. We have visited POP several times and it does look fun! For those that spend a little more time at the resort and don't just use it to sleep in did POP do it for you? I am nervous.

We always take a couple of afternoons off to play/explore at the resort. The main pool at POP is great! They have CM's that keep the kids playing all kinds of games all day. During our last trip, our DGS didn't want to leave POP to go back to the parks! We have stayed at moderates before but once we started taking our grandkids, it is only POP for us now. The kids LOVE it and there are tons of things to explore all over the resort and just across the lake you can explore AofA! You will not be disappointed!

This could possibly be a dumb question but can you call and request a room in the 50's section without having to pay for a preferred room?
