Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I'm confused - you say you got a text saying your room was ready. So why would there be any follow-up? If the text said the room was ready I would have gone straight there if that was what I wanted to do.

And as I understand it the text does not tell you anything but the room number, so if you did not know the layout of the resort and needed directions you would still need to go to the front desk for that map. Right?
My apologies! Our text said our room WASN'T ready.

I'm wondering if it's a typo and she meant to say she got a text saying the room wasn't ready? I think they also send texts letting you know your room isn't quite ready but you can still use your magic bands to visit the parks, etc.
You are correct! I left out the "not". We got a t st saying our room was not ready and then never heard anything else.

I'm checking in tomorrow and I'll update everyone on how my check-in went as well. I did online check-in with an arrival time of 2 pm but I'm not sure if I will make it right at 2. I have streamlined check-in where I do need to go to the streamlined check-in desk first. This is my first stay at Pop and I'm really excited!

I would really like to know how it goes. We check in next Friday and now after reading this I am nervous. 2 previous stays and never had any problems before

Gotcha! Thanks!

I've honestly never gotten a text either way in spite of them having my number. Of course I actually like talking with the CM at the desk, so it doesn't bother me.

At POR, I have gotten the text saying our room was not ready yet. I hope our room will be ready early afternoon at POP. I am not expecting it to be ready at 7:30 when we arrive. Though, that would be amazing. ;)

Nov 2015, we stayed at POR and we got a text saying that our room wasn't ready. We just hung out at the pool and then planned to head to Disney springs. However, we never got "your room is now ready" text. So, it's not a bad idea to just double check with the front desk every few hours. My sister and her family got their room ready text and I was getting a little frustrated, do I went to the front desk to inquire about how much longer I could expect to wait, and they replied "your room has been ready for 2 hrs". So, not a bad idea just to double check and hr or two after you arrive. Live and learn...lol

Not receiving the text has happened to us often. So I know to check every few hours. The front desk does get sick of seeing me every few hours with me checking and it never fails that I never get the text and they tell me the room had been ready for at least an hour when I go to check yet again. This last time when they told me not to expect the room ready before 6pm cause they were tired of seeing me for the third or fourth time that day. I made sure once the room was finally ready way to late in the day I might add about how upset I was about not receiving the text when I should have gotten it and the fact it took so long to have the room made ready when they knew our situation. They did offer to comp our Dinner that night since we had such a time that day. Disney IT is not only horrible online but for their Resort services to get your text notifications.

How did it go? We will be there this week and I hope it was smooth for you!!

So I just booked POP for me, my 23 year old cousin, and her 15 year old younger brother. We will be there the end of May. My question is, is there room for a twin size air mattress in the room? I'm pretty sure everyone is going to want their own beds. We are flying Southwest, so I thought I could check it in a second bag. I have never stayed at POP before but got an amazing deal or Orbitz, so here we come!

Yes, we bring an Aerobed that my son uses- used it many times at POP. There's room in front of the beds by the table- we moved the table a bit. :)

Just stayed at POP for the 3rd time. When did the rooms go from carpeting to flooring, or am I dreaming, and they always had flooring instead of carpet?

We were there right before Christmas and there was carpet. Do you have a picture? What kind of flooring is it....tile, linoleum, etc.?

We were there the first week in December and the carpet was gone.
Here are pics of the new flooring from disney food blog. The carpeting was removed.
Link to where the pics came from. They posted this in May 2015.

Can someone provide the link to the map of the where the standard and preferred rooms are on the resort? My cousin has booked Standard room at Pop but wants to know what section she can request to be closest to the busses without paying for a preferred room.

Thank you. :)

Are you talking about the rooms you stay in? Pictures please!

The link is on page #1 of this thread. Here you go. http://i962.photobucket.com/albums/...read/PopCenturyMap2012RoomCategoriesFINAL.jpg

I would have your cousin request "close to bus stop". There are a large number of rooms that are just as close to the bus stop as preferred rooms. If your cousin only requests one section, the room assigners won't know why they want that location and could end up with a room not close to the bus stop. It would just give your cousin the best odds of getting what they want.
