Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

Question - do any rooms at the poly have a washer/dryer? Poly is the only MK resort we have yet to stay at and having a washer/dryer with the kids is a huge plus!

AFAIK, only the Bungalows have washers and dryers in-unit. The Studios do not, though there are two laundry facilities (one on the DVC side and one for non-DVC guests) available for use.

I don't know if the handful of special suites have machines in them or not, tbh. Other than those small handful, the entire hotel is just Studios (DVC or not) and the Bungalows.

Once the Island Tower opens, there will be 1BR and 2BR units, which will have in-room laundry facilities.

Thank you!! That’s helpful. I had started to look and didn’t realize it was mostly studios. That’s good to know the new tower will have one bedrooms!

More Trees, Paint, and Roofing on DVC Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Resort

With just over three months until opening, crews are adding the final details to Disney Vacation Club’s new Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows.
A construction site with equipment and materials is situated near a parking lot and palm trees. Several tents and vehicles are present, and a partially cloudy sky is visible.
The staging area in a Polynesian parking lot only expands as construction nears its end. Materials and construction equipment wait here to be used or to be removed from the property.
Construction site with heavy machinery, materials, and several workers beside a multi-story building and a smaller structure with a red roof on a cloudy day.
Over at the tower, sand-colored walls line the construction site, separating the tower from the other buildings.
Construction site with several vehicles and equipment near multistory buildings and a pile of dirt. The sky is overcast.
Palm trees lean against a dirt pile between walls. Trees began to be planted around the tower recently, and these are likely waiting installation.
Construction site with workers and machinery in front of a multi-story hotel building. The sky is cloudy, and various construction materials are scattered around the ground.
Crews have installed more balcony railings all over the building, although they are not yet complete. A tall wall between the south wing and the center of the building is now enclosed. Crew members in cherry pickers were working on the wall.
Construction site of a multi-story building with scaffolding and cranes. Workers can be seen on the site performing various tasks.
Some brown paneling is on top of the port-cochère. It’s surrounded by scaffolding as crew members finish the structure.
A multi-story building under construction with a crane elevating materials. The structure has various balconies and windows, and there is scaffolding on the right. Small trees and a path are in the foreground.
Another tall wall between the center and the north wing is enclosed. Crew members have started painting it pale yellow.
A view of a mid-rise building with multiple balconies and a construction site with a crane on the right side. The ground in front has newly planted trees and visible red construction barriers.
The trees planted in front of the north wing have been unwrapped and fluffed up. A wall around the elevator tower is now completely painted.
A modern multistory building with balconies under a cloudy sky. Palms trees and a partially completed pathway are in the foreground, with a worker visible near the trees.
A sidewalk runs along the building and around to the other side.
A large multistory building under construction is seen across a body of water with a crane and various construction equipment on site. The sky is partly cloudy.
Speaking of the other side, we could see more crew members in cherry pickers working on the walls facing the Seven Seas Lagoon.
A construction worker on a lift working on the exterior of a multi-story building, with a large opening under construction.
We learned recently that the large square openings in the building would be terrace gardens. Some plants have already been installed along the edge of this garden, with yellow blooms visible.
Multiple cranes are being used for construction work on a multi-story building by a waterfront, with a boat passing by in the foreground.
Large squares of brown paint have been added to a wall on the top floor.

The fin-shaped overhang atop the building has been completely enclosed with pale yellow paneling. Crews have added steel frames around the columns below the overhang.
A multi-story building under construction with workers, construction equipment, and scaffolding visible. The exterior appears mostly complete with windows and balconies installed.
Again, more balcony railings have been installed. The railings in the center of the building are reddish-brown with criss-crossing patterns. The railings on the top few floors are simpler — black frames around plexiglass.

We previously reported on Moana’s outrigger being installed by the pool for a splash pad.
Several construction workers, wearing safety gear, work on a site with various equipment and vehicles in front of a building with large windows and balconies.
Much of the boat is still wrapped in tarps to keep it safe during construction. It sits in the center of a paved area that will eventually be painted like the ocean. A Moana figure will also be added to the boat.
On the wall of the tower behind the boat is a new roller garage door.

An extension has been added to the brown overhang on the first floor of the tower.
Crews are digging around the splash pad, likely to install and work on pipes.
Construction site of a large building with workers operating machinery and performing various tasks. The site features heavy equipment, scaffolding, and partially completed structures in a waterfront area.
New to the area are several tall black poles. They’re around the pool and hot tub and could be lampposts.
Construction workers are building a concrete pathway near a waterfront, with a large building featuring red roofs and white walls in the background.
A few more trees have been installed near the edge of the lagoon.

Short walls outline a patio area near the lagoon that will eventually be paved.
A mid-construction multi-story building with multiple windows and balconies. Construction equipment and workers are visible on the ground and on the building, with a clear blue sky above.
There are still walls of the tower that have yet to be painted.
Construction workers and machinery are active at a building site with a partially constructed structure and several cranes and excavators in use.
Crews are working on roofing over the Wailulu Bar and Grill’s outdoor seating area. Paneling now covers most of the round roof.

Roofing and fascia also cover the long roof.
A JLG Ultra Boom lift is positioned in front of a partly constructed building, surrounded by construction materials and mud.
These columns have been enclosed in Tyvek paneling.

I posted this over on the DVC board, but thought it would be of interest here, too. New virtual tours of the Island Tower rooms have come out. It looks like they filmed these in the same model rooms from the video released earlier this year. I've enjoyed poking around and spending my time looking at the details instead of just pausing the video over and over.

I haven't found one for the penthouses yet.

Thanks so much. IMO, it's a shame that the banquette/table area in the studio wasn't instead used to create a small bed as in other DVC DLX Studios... They still wouldn't offer the space & conveniences of the 1-BR, but if they insisted on so many more studios & Longhouses, it seems a big missed selling point.

Thanks for sharing. Yeah, pretty interesting zooming in to various nooks and crannies, and their photoshopped views. :-)

Does anyone know where the following room type is located at the Poly? "Resort View, Wheelchair Accessible with Transfer Shower, 2Q + daybed" We booked exactly what we need and are delighted. Just wonder which longhouse(s) this might be in. Thanks!

Thanks for that! I looked all over Touring Plans and could not find it! WDW site says there is a daybed, but TP says there are just 2 Queens. Many thanks EP!
There is one other room on property with the roll-in shower and daybed, but it's Club Level.

That is what I found and we did not book Club Level this trip. Not certain how you got the Niue room to pop up, but many thanks. My resort info says 2Q +d'bed but TP says 2Q. I will report what is actually there when we return. Oh, I did find a video of the room on Facebook, so I don't know if this will work https://www.facebook.com/reel/200086012605591

There's only one of those on property - Niue building, room 1703.
https://touringplans.com/hotel_maps/disneys-polynesian-resort?room=1703&rooms=true

Is a transfer shower is the same as a roll-in shower? I am not sure what a transfer shower is, but it appears to be a separate booking category from roll-in shower, so I would not assume they are the same without some official confirmation.

We stayed in Niue 1703 last October. I can confirm that it has a daybed, and that it is reasonably comfortable because I slept on it for five nights! Our room was definitely described in our booking as resort view, wheelchair accessible with roll-in shower (not transfer). This shower had an open doorway with no lip so a wheelchair could roll right in. Transfer was not required unless the person wanted to use the flip down seat. I’ll attach a couple of pictures of the shower in 1703. (Please pardon our towels!)

Other wheelchair accessible features included a swinging door to the patio with a transition strip on the threshold for easier rolling, lower beds, and no sitting chair or benches at the end of the beds to leave more room for the wheelchair to move. If you need a roll-in shower this is a great room.

ETA: You can get this room to show on TP by selecting roll-in shower under accessibility options.

Pease update us about what room you get and its features. I’m very interested!

No they are different. A transfer shower allows someone to transfer onto a fold-down shower seat from a wheelchair parked outside the shower unit.
