Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

That's what I was thinking / wondering about (fewer people on site)... and why I ultimately booked it, at least for now...

Here's a follow-up question that I remember reading about a few years back on these boards -- daily room checks... Here's perhaps not the original thread but some chatter about it. https://www.disboards.com/threads/room-checks.3812227/ On the original thread people were talking about CMs opening the door in the middle of the night and looking around w/ flashlight. That's not happening, right? I am "pretty not ok with that" (or substitute your own non-Disney friendly language version of that sentiment.) Come in during the day for housekeeping = great (which, from what I understand, they're not doing b/c of covid?). In either case, middle of the night ≠ great. I last stayed on property in '19 and if they came in at night they didn't wake me.... so... any thoughts from frequent visitors?
CMs knock on the door and then come in during the middle of the day to take the garbage. Definitely not middle of the night.

Oh wow, they took down that GIANT tree that was right there. I always assumed that thing had been there for a long time, maybe original to 1971. It had really taken over that entire space and was right up against the building (which probably was causing problems). Bummed to see it go, it was beautiful.
That is a bummer. Maybe more outdoor seating??

Do the Villas rooms have a little freezer in the mini-fridge? Do i need to buy disposal utensils/bowls/paper towels or do they provide that? Im renting points if that makes any difference.

Yes, they have a mini-fridge.

Disposal utensils/bowls/paper towels are provided in the room.

No difference if you are renting points.

I know my toddler will make a beeline for the beach. Does the gift shop sell any sand toys? Probably can’t fit those in our luggage. (Obviously we’ll keep him far from the water.)

I've read the dvc villas are getting a soft goods refurb in 2021, does anyone have any info on when that is? I have a studio Dec 11-16, I would think it would be done by then.

How early does the monorail run from TTC? Since only Poly guests can be there before they open the parking lot, do they wait until that time to start stopping at the TTC?

I want to do the rope-droppiest rope drop possible and I'm wondering what will get me to MK faster, the monorail via TTC, the bus, the boat, the monorail via GF, or just walking all the way.

And if anyone has a suggestion regarding this, what time do you suggest I be there (bus stop, TTC, etc.).

Regarding the other parks, I guess the bus is the only option. When should i be at the bus stop? I do have a car but it sounds like with Disney holding the cars back until a certain time it would be better to take Disney transportation.

Walking is the only surefire way. Park transportation all starts ~45 minutes before scheduled park opening, same time the parking lots open. By then there will be a line for buses and boats.

Wondering the same. We'd like to rope drop, but I have a travel party that we need to preserve their legs. I'm figuring we'd at least be in line before those driving to TTC since we can walk over at any time. Just not sure what time cars are let into TTC.

I asked earlier about this because I, too, want to be at the front of the pack. We are at the Poly on May 9. A recent visitor to the resort responded "Having just returned from last week and with Monorail still down at Poly, I'd just take the bus from Poly to MK. There seemed to be a lot more MK busses running from Poly with the monorail down. It was a very quick ride over to MK. We have 4 younger children and had the same concern with the walk by GF. We did the Monorail once early morning from TTC but it was backed up with regular guests. Poly bus stop at least gives you some exclusivity and less people. We also aimed for rope drop. When MK was opening at 8am, we typically were at bus stop by 6:45/6:50am and had no trouble. We'd be on Main Street by 7:10/7:15am and then we went to our rides of choice. Some attractions start running earlier but mine train wasnt really going until 7:40am, but you still are beating the rush by getting in line first/earlier."

So I think I'm either going to do bus or walk although I'm not sure if walking is the best idea with my 8 and 6 year old daughters.

I’ve been wondering about the best way to get to the MK, too. We‘ll be there in July and are going with the assumption that the monorail platform won’t be completed yet. i think using the GF walkway from the DVC side of the resort will take 25 min. If it was cooler weather we could do it, but not in the summer humidity. If the bus continues to come that early, that sounds like the best option.

Yeah, I’m Team Bus for MK rope drop, if you don’t want to walk.

While it’s fine/doable, I never really love the TTC option for rope drop as that dumps you in w/ everyone coming from the parking lots. While not common, if one of the main modes of transportation (either monorail line or the Ferry) are down, things can quickly get a little wonky there so I’d just rather keep it simple and take the Poly options.

Been here since Sunday. My biggest worry was transportation...aside from Monday when we went to Epcot (over 20 minute wait) we’ve never waited more than a few minutes for transportation. To MK we’ve always used the small boat from the dock and it’s been there every time we’ve walked up. We haven’t even walked to TTC yet and we’re leaving tomorrow. For some odd reason there are MK buses every 5 minutes (not lying) so that might be your quickest route. Buses to AK/HS have been little to no wait.
