We were hoping to take a break at the pools each afternoon. Are there enough chairs that we'll be able to sit and relax during the afternoons, or is it just the cabanas that people save from early morning?

When we stayed at the end of June, there were plenty of chairs available at both the feature pool and the Oasis pool. If you want a cabana at the Oasis pool, those will be hard to come by. As many others have reported, people claim them early and don't leave.

If our plane lands on Aug 18 friday at 10:30 am can we make it to the poly check in and be at Japan for lunch resies at 2:50? It is our first stay at the Poly. We even, by default, have a hotel day. New to having any hotel days as we are a commando family. Suggestions for this hotel would be great.

As a pp said, you should have plenty of time to make your ADR. Have a great trip! :)

Been back for a week but I wanted to post about our stay.

We checked in on a Sat morning with a DVC cash rate that I had linked to our stay on points. Arrived about 1 and our room was not ready off to the Magic Kingdom we went and got our room text just as we were coming back. We had plenty of time to get to our room and have luggage delivered and make it to the first Luau as this was my DH's actual birthday. Our request was met first floor Tokelau perfect. Room was not that clean linens were fine, but I had to wipe everything else down and pick up some trash off the floor. I bring a lot of cleaning supplies anyway so no biggie.

We walked through the Oasis pool on the way back from the Luau and a cabana was open so we hung out there for the rest of the evening and had some drinks/swam. This was the only time we saw one empty, people were sleeping in them by 7am when we were getting our coffee. I have to agree with everyone about rude people at the pools. Don't know if rude is a word that pinpoints it but definitely a different atmosphere than usual. I have a few stories but I don't think they are worth repeating. Oasis pool at times was almost too warm to swim in and I like the water warm. The ducks using the pool as a bathroom really got to me as well I know it shouldn't but it just did. Taking the lack of shade at both pools into consideration, Volcano pool won out just because the water was deeper and cooler.

Got up the next morning to recheck in with our regular DVC reservation and we were able to stay in the same room win win.

Our magic bands stopped working a few times during the stay. My DH had to fly home and back for a meeting so we were trying to get to our FP at HS then him to the airport. Of course we couldn't get into the room after breakfast for his things and had to stop to get the bands fixed. I asked if they could bump up our first FP time and when we got to the park they had added an extra one and made the 2 FP's anytime FP I thought that was great and a nice surprise.

The day before we were to leave on the way to the pool my son who has special needs asked if we could stay another night, he had gotten overheated one day and it was a short trip anyway so my daughter was determined to make this happen for him. I told her first things first do they even have the room available. She went to desk in her coverup and said the CM's couldn't have been nicer got on the phone right away but said it was a longshot, they got us our same room for the annual pass rate, I could not believe it. Everything else fell into place with the flights and car rental, looked like we would have one more night!

We had great experiences everywhere we ate and CM's to match. Added the sushi bar in front of Kona as a new favorite.

The Polynesian really is a great resort, I hope everyone has an amazing trip!

Thanks for your review. Glad you had a great stay and enjoyed the Poly :wizard:.

We are staying for a week at the end of September, have visiited many times for breakfast at Kona but never stayed yet so very excited! We have booked lagoon view so I have checked on Touring Plans to see which rooms are available in that category and have requested First floor in Tuvalu as third floor are theme park view and second floor don't have balconies.

I am telling myself not to be too disappointed if we don't get our request as after all we are living at the Poly for a week!

Was hoping to spend afternoons at the Oasis pool, just me and hubby, but after reading previous posts might just stick to the little beach at the side of Tuvalu

You will love the Poly! If you check in and find that your requests weren't met, you can always ask if something else is available. It's not guaranteed your room/long house can be changed, but it never hurts to ask. Have a great trip :).

Hello! I have a question about checking in for a club level stay. I read they no longer greet you outside of the GCH when you arrive. Do you check in at guest services at the GCH or do you go directly to the Hawaii longhouse?

We haven't stayed CL at the Poly so I'm not positive, but I think you would check in at the GCH. You might be able to go to the Hawaii building, but someone would have to let you in if your MBs aren't activated yet. Hopefully others who have been there recently will post about their experience :flower3:.

You should have plenty of time. I usually estimate 1 1/2 hours from the airport to the resort once you land. It could take less but it hasn't been more than that for us. You probably won't be able to go to your room but you can check in and then head straight to EPCOT. You have several options to get to EPCOT. You can take the monorail to TTC and change for the EPCOT monorail or you can walk to TTC and then take the EPCOT monorail. You could easily be to Japan by 2:50. Have fun!
Thanks. New to Poly.

If your looking for shade that will be hard to come by till late afternoon unless you use the tables over by the bar and grill. When you see something open up you can scoot over. Late afternoon was much easier for sure at that time people start to come and go. You are staying at the end of September which hopefully will be slower than the week we were there, 2 chairs should be pretty easy to get.

I too noticed spots saved early morning not just the Cabanas.

Have a great trip!

Lol, we must be weird...parking lot view means monorail view, which we love!
You know, I never thought about this. Straight parking lot I wouldn't like, but seeing the monorail might not be a bad thing after all. Good to know that no matter where they assign me at the Polynesian could have a positive side. Thanks for the comment.

Which building should I request for standard view room?

I would be happy anywhere at the Poly, but we really like Samoa. I like that it's centrally located and is just steps from both pools, the GCH, Captain Cooks, and the beach :).

This is one of the (many) things I love about the Poly. I don't think there are any bad locations as anywhere (IMO) is great! Hope you have a great trip :wizard:.

Thanks! It's not even September now and I'm already thinking of my trip after the December one at Poly. I have an Annual Pass now, so if they give me a good enough discount, I may try to get the Poly during the Flower/Garden show. Cross fingers!

You're welcome :).

Just stayed CL the last week of July. It is true about no longer greeting you outside, it's not like it used to be. Per the pre-arrival e-mails, you're supposed to tell the Valet you are checking in CL and they will get someone to escort you to the Hawaii building for check in. In reality, just about anything can happen after that, from being escorted back to Hawaii, to being told to walk there yourself, to being told to check-in in the main building. Reports seem to indicate experiences are very inconsistent. For us, the valet asked if we knew where Hawaii was and when we said yes, he told us to walk there ourselves. CL CMs told us this should not have happened.

The whole process this time wasn't the end of the world but it's not like in the past when someone had an iPad welcoming us by name the second we got out of the car (although that wasn't always perfect either).

I'd recommend you keep asking anyone you see from the valet to to the GCH until you find someone that seems to know what they are doing!

Can I request a toaster for a standard room? If so, should I wait till we arrive or call and put it with my requests?

Does anyone know if there is any additional charge for the room service ohana? We have never ordered room service and want to do the Ohana dinner one night in our room but are wondering if they charge extra for a delivery fee/service charge, etc?

Also, by any chance, do they give the option of delivering lapu lapus to go alone with dinner?! Ahhh one can dream!

Aloha! Just booked a night in a lake view studio as a treat for my birthday.
Last stayed there in 2004 pixiedust:

Have a fab stay!
Have not been to WDW since my disney wedding in 2010, and this booked stay will be first time in the Poly!

The price per person is listed in the room service brochure, I think it's around $40 for an adult. But it is definitely cheaper than eating at Ohana because you can split it. We ordered for two adults and the four of us had PLENTY to eat. It's called the polynesian twilight feast or something like that, no mention of Ohana in the menu. I have plans to get it at least two nights next month, ha ha. Room service always has fees but it was still a great deal.

Does anyone know how much it costs to rent a sea raycer? Do you need reservations?

Great, thanks! I understand if we can't be in the shade, but I'd really like a chair!
