This was our only Poly complaint last year - the pool was full of pre-teens pushing their way around and not paying any attention to their surroundings. Almost made us reconsider the Poly this year since we use the pool a lot, but we're hoping the 2nd pool being open helps since we love everything else about it.

I have to agree about the pool issues. We were at the Poly last week. There were tables/chairs and cabanas "saved" for hours with just pool towels and caps. There was a young tween spitting on the pool deck. Ducks were swimming in the pool and a father kept throwing water at them, until his young son told him to stop because it was his turn to scare the ducks! I was also surprised that parents allow their 7/8 year olds at the pool unsupervised. (It wasn't all bad, we did chat with some nice folks, too:)) This was all at the Oasis pool.

I don't usually use the pools that much but am looking forward to trying both during my first stay next May. Hoping to avoid any situations like mentioned. But honestly I am noticing in ALL areas of life people are starting to act with no manners and like they were raised in a barn. Seriously, spitting on the pool deck!!!!!!

When arriving to check-in early, has anyone had luck with getting an estimated time that their room might be ready? We'll be checking in around 7am and while I don't expect our room will be available that early, it would be nice to have a rough idea of when it will be to make planning our day's activities (no parks) easier.

The CMs are instructed to not give out any kind of estimate.

Nope. We checked in at 7:30am once and NEVER got a room ready text. We had to go back to the desk at nearly midnight after a day of park touring to find out our room number.

However, in May we arrived at 3:30pm at BWV and room wasn't ready. The desk CM told us if we didn't get a text in 20 minutes with our room, to come back to the desk and see him. We got our text exactly 20 minutes later.

Hi all! We are a little over a month away from our first family Disney trip (and my 2nd ever...first time was...um...25 years ago) and so excited to stay at the Poly!

Can anyone tell me about how long it takes to get to Epcot from the Poly? I've seen conflicting reports online. We'll have our car (driving from Atlanta) and 2 young kids (6 and 3.5) Are there any parks that we would be better off driving to than taking the bus/monorail/boat?

Thanks! Can't wait!

Looks Like I will be there as well at the same time. We are doing a week at universal first. We usually just do two weeks in Disney but my kids are tall enough now for universal. Next year we will be back to two weeks at Disney again. Plan to book BB before we leave.

LOL, this is us next year. Two weeks at Disney every year - next year both kids will be tall enough to do all at Universal, so a week there, and week at Disney, they back to Disney alone the following!

Hey guys. Still AGES til our Poly vacation.
We have been away to Canada though, and loved it.
Although, we NEARLY cancelled WDW after the ASDer struggled so much, but then, we thought, WDW is much more set up for people like him to have a good time too, so, back to the DIS and super planning....

We head to the Poly next week. It's our first stay there and we are very excited to say the least. My question is with all the stuff months ago about the alligator and such, is the beach still available to watch the MK fireworks from? Also about what time does the water parade come thru? Thanks.

For Epcot, simply walk to TTC and hop on the monorail. That will definitely be the most efficient way. It's about a 15 minute ride.

Yes, you can still watch Wishes and the EWP from the beach, but CMs will be there to clear everyone out as soon as they are over. The EWP passes by the Poly at 9:00. Enjoy! One of my favorite memories from our last trip!!!

Have a great trip and enjoy the Poly! :wizard:.

I agree with BridgeBuilder that walking to the TTC and hopping on the monorail would probably be the easiest/most efficient :).

The time will go fast and you will be arriving at the Poly before you know it! Enjoy all the planning :).
